1. Find the mod in your workshop folder and copy the files to a new folder in your local Documents\Paradox Interactive\Age of Wonders 4\Mods folder.
2. In that folder make a zip file of all the files. So you have like Mods\unitmakeover\makeover.zip
3. Open Package Manager and make a new mod. Click content-> packages-> check the dependency and click ok. If it doesn't show up you messed up the zip step.
4. Start Resource Editor (from Package Manager!) and click content-> resouce packs-> add.. then navigate to the copied mod folder and add the Packs/um_categories.rpk as a dependency
For making the outfits just take a look at the other mods or um_basegame_modularity.rpk
Add an arms, torso, legs, and headitem component for each outfit even if they're empty (to overwrite the base outfit)
Basically just copy over the mesh items from other outfits you like.
I have some ideas for stuff I want to try making.
It's possible to fix specific outfit genders (make soothers/skirmishers always female) but it's kind of annoying, and nobody complained about that, so I'm probably going to leave it as it is.
After update some models (especially lizardmen) are broken.
but some options only have 3 or 4 choices, could you add more to those options? such as adding the base shield unit models to the Shock Infantry / Heavy Calvary / Skirmisher Units to pad them out for the other factions?
if this is possible it may be cool to mix the outfits across several unit types.
such as have all (Archers / Mounted Archers / Scouts / Skirmishers) share models.
and have all (Infantry / Shock Infantry / Heavy Calvary / Polearms) share models.
and have all (Battlemage / Support) share models, as well as share with both the above.
there's probably a better way to do this, this way is kind of tedious
the faces and bears on the gender slider need to be fixed
If it wouldn't be unwelcome, I have one suggestion to make. In the modification sliders for individual units, they're labeled in accordance to presumed type. Archer, charge infantry, etc. But for some cultures, these labels are meaningless. For example, "charge infantry" actually changes Mystic's Tier 3 battlemage.
Would it perhaps look a little cleaner to just call them "unit 1, unit 2," etc from left to right?
For everyone, who is kinda hasitant to try, cause it might mess with something - chill. The mod adds a separate slider to toggle the customisation on and off, and it is off by default.
