I'm updating all my mods for AoR right now. After that I will come back to all requests I got in the meantime. My speed with the updates vaies though - so I can't give you an estimate of when doing that grid version right now.
But I'll upload them as soon as possible for you. :)
In gerenal you can say the higher the number, the more smooth/plain the terrains do look.
I would descide between classic, v3 (real update to v2), v4 and v6 (v5 has some terrains that were critized and v6 is more or less an update to v5, so use v5 in case ant these exact terrais only) or grim&gritty - in case you don't want to try a themed pack like winter or halloween. Forclassic and v2 there are also 'FE' updates that were created trying to keep their style but have some influences from later packs.
All my packs have 20+ screens of the same locations, so by opening them seperately in your brower enables you to get a good comparision.
So in this case, when susbcribing to a pussywood mod after my mod, my trees will be 'overwritten' by the pussywood mod.
In all these cases AoE may overwrite a file that should be changed by a mod with the default. Normally the mods should be reapplied automatically, but sometimes this is broken, and the mod simply doesn't refresh.
But what makes me wonder are the trees - normally they don't change back to default for AoEs broken mod system - you have to delete them manually. And I don't remember any patch that edited them... But after a reinstallation of the mod, they too should be back.
It would be more easy to upload the default trees (for the mojority of subscribers) - I'll di so when I finished my rock and mountain replacements I'm uploading right now.
Only solution you have now:
Go to 'T:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Age2HD\Data' or where you installed Steam/AoE.
There is a button when right-clicking AoE in your steam library in properties, that can lead you there. Now delete the slp folder.
After that, in the same dialog (right click / properties / local files) click verify integrity of game cache. This needs some time, Steam will check your game files and restore missing ones.
That's all.
For the future - take a look at my mod manager, just open my profile it's linked there.
HiddenPath just didn't implement anything to uninstall mods.
You are supposed to use steams verification of game cache functionality.
But while most mod content is done by adding files, the verification just works for original game files (like intended). So additional content (in this case non-terrain graphics) have to be deleted manually. To do so, delete the AoE\data\slp folder before verifying.
Alternativly take a look at my mod manager. You need a clean AoE installation to start with and have to be aware of a few things (read the manual), but it allows you to install/uninstall and switch between mods with just a few clicks (beside several other features).
