It probably just means that your custom model doesn't have that bone, so the new camera from this addon can't attach itself to it. It's not gonna mess with your model, just the addon won't work as intended for anyone using that specific model.

hmm, is the "Your custom model does NOT have "ValveBiped.forward" bone! Bad custom survivor model." from this of your mod? What does it means to my custom survivor model?

Since I tried this and the view are really off the survivor

why doesn't this work for multiplayer!!!!!! ;(((((

That said - if you manage to find a solution, I'd love to ask for an option to disable the automatic switching from firstperson to thirdpersonshoulder upon unscoping just for ease when recording demos. I didn't fully watch the one I just did a few minutes ago but I reckon it recorded even me hitting my alt key (bound to thirdpersonshoulder).

Though it's sorta weird that fp > tps only happens if you're shoving or scoping out. Switching to any weapon will keep firstperson unchanged.
Pluvillion 20 Apr @ 8:52am
Ah, it doesn't work with demos. It's just the regular thirdpersonshoulder.

That's a shame - I wanted to see it in action without necessarily hindering my aiming (sniping with this mod is a bit difficult if not scoping). Great mod nonetheless!

so kinda like cl_first_person_uses_world_model but better

what map is that?

@ingeenergaming2013
That requires modding the model and is out of the scope of this script mod. There's already headless models on the workshop just one search away.

ey could you do like, what tf2 did with this, what i mean its like the character in use, delete their head yeah,
Pluvillion 17 Feb @ 2:52am
Just a few days ago I mentioned how we're slowly uncovering how L4D1 did legs... now we're slowly getting there. Whoo. Hopefully it's still accurate.

@Oni
It was an unfixed holdover from the earliest original setup of convars from the original author since they couldn't detect when a cutscene plays and change convars for the camera dynamically.
I didn't deem it as important to fix originally when this mod was unlisted.
@idk gaming
The vanilla models don't have much problems on this mod.
If your custom survivor model has a protruding head that could be why. Maybe I'll look into adding custom chat settings to use to adjust the camera position.

For some reason this broke(?) the cameras for intros and the camera for finales in campaigns. It just just forces you to see your characters pov during it

head gets infront of my screen

i see
Shadowysn  [author] 12 Feb @ 8:41am
@Solar
That was the earlier goofy camera-on-top-of-your-head version of the mod that's only been active on the day before yesterday. I noticed and didn't like it either so I already updated it away.
Solar 12 Feb @ 8:38am
the crosshair not being accurate meaning that if you shoot while aiming at something the actual crosshair is really high up
Shadowysn  [author] 12 Feb @ 8:35am
@XENORT
Nope, all the console commands that make up this mod are stopped from being changed by the server.
@Solar
I had an earlier change yesterday with a goofy camera-on-top-of-your-head in an effort to prevent clipping, but that was reverted and the shots should be at least moderately accurate to the crosshair again, though it's not perfect accuracy.

It seems I can implement the scoping firstperson without a hitch. Expect it to be in the next update.
@ASAPbacksack
I have one of my own that I didn't really upload and it doesn't rely on any script library.
You know what, I'll implement it into this mod.
Priia 12 Feb @ 8:19am
is the a shotgun sound fix that doesn't crash the game?
:buzzed:
Solar 12 Feb @ 6:55am
are you able to put a feature where once zoomed in with a scope the mod disables? because if you zoom in with a scoped weapon you still see your weapon and your vision gets obstructed
Solar 12 Feb @ 6:39am
the crosshair is not very accurate, its kinda misleading
XENORT 12 Feb @ 5:26am
Is it possible to convert this to Sourcemod and make it work for every client in the server?
VAKANCY 11 Feb @ 10:17pm
Thanks Shadow! Wonderful mod.

Appreciate it
Shadowysn  [author] 30 Mar, 2024 @ 8:39pm
The mod tries to search for a ValveBiped.forward named bone index on the model itself through VScript and uses it if it exists. If not, it kind of fails.
Sayachii 3 Feb, 2024 @ 11:20am
Do you recall which head bone this script needs to work? It's a 50/50 on custom model compatibility though the view itself is fantastic otherwise.
