This mod still works even if the launcher says otherwise. Just tested it and I start with a Hive World, 200% habitability and extra tech to make more hive worlds.

I love this mod but maybe an update is in-order

Hi, the game had patches 3.9.1 and 3.9.2 (there are changes and new modding options), maybe it's worth updating your mod?

since the release of First Contact, it would be neat if you could now implement something like a primal zerg origin like folks were mentioning below, with a few guaranteed pre-ftl's and you get to assimilate from the start?
Daraster 14 Sep, 2023 @ 4:19am
@burlaczech Did you? Zerus is primal zerg homeworld.
They weren't a hive there, primal zergs work more like packs.

Hivemind and such came with their meddling and the Overmind.
Burlaczech 8 Sep, 2023 @ 8:41am
@anonymous-77 did you even play the game? Zerus is the homeworld of the zerg (literally half of the campaign is about it), Char was the homeworld of the Overmind.
Oswald 7 Sep, 2023 @ 10:14am
Pretty sure the old lore said something like that.
Anonymous-77 2 Sep, 2023 @ 7:16am
But hey, I'm not Blizzard, so take it with a grain of salt ^-^
Anonymous-77 2 Sep, 2023 @ 7:16am
Zerus holds the primal zerg, and that was the only real zerg spot for a long time.

That is, until they started to head offworld, and they began to change. As they do.

The modern "Hive" zerg arose on Char and began to infest everything from there using the Overmind.

So, Char is really the origin point of the Hive zerg, and could be considered the homeworld.

@Dreskel char is not a homeworld. it is the location of the zergs primary hive cluster in the korprulu sector (terran space) zerus is the origin world for all zerg. Char was before the zerg arrived in the sector a system under the control of the terran Kel-Morian Combine
Dreskel 9 Aug, 2023 @ 12:31am
@tolaburke Char is the homeworld of the HIVE zerg, Zerus is the homeworld of pre-hive char. So the creator is indeed correct.
Lord Rith 7 Aug, 2023 @ 3:01pm
I actually played a game very similar to this just recently. I'm a bit sad this doesn't really add anything like Zerg Units or Tech, Even regenerating health etc.
But I do like the idea, especially if you decided to expand on it further.
Stormpants 3 Aug, 2023 @ 8:49am
I am the Overmind, the eternal will of the Swarm, and you have been created to serve me!
tolaburke 6 Jul, 2023 @ 7:24pm
"That way the Homeworld Char"

Char? Zerus.

There's probably more that can be done. Armies, buildings, infestation. The Zerg, it seems to me, have elements of a Progenitor Hive.

for I am the overmind

This mod alone made me want to follow you as a mod creator. Any chance of making a protoss origin? No problem if not, just an idea. Either way, keep up the amazing work!

WILDCARD  [author] 18 Jun, 2023 @ 1:08pm
@Sammy That's an interesting idea. I am also toying around with the idea that all leaders should be immune to being killed, since the Overmind says to the Cerebrates "if ever your flesh should fail, that flesh shall be made anew."
@Techies!!! I'm working on an even more OP origin where the Zerg can colonize Barren, Molten, and Frozen worlds. That way the Homeworld Char can be a Molten world.
Astralith 18 Jun, 2023 @ 8:58am
Literally one of the most busted origins, but I love it so much. Non-stop expansion and destruction.
Sammy 18 Jun, 2023 @ 4:36am
Honestly, it should have the Overmind as a planetary feature and if it's destroyed it will splinter all your empire until a new one is grown.
Ovid 14 Jun, 2023 @ 4:16pm
Hey Wildcard, just a random thought, but how'd you theoretically put togethor an origin based on the Mecha Swarm/Project Simulant? Basically, robot versions of the Zerg?
Ovid 14 Jun, 2023 @ 4:12pm
Okay, I like this. I normally hate playing no-diplomacy types like Devouring Swarm, but its so thematic for the Zerg. And since it's an origin, players can't combo it with other powerful starts.

Now, I need to go find that Zerg shipset mod...

 Very good mod. I wonder whether there would further updates, such as some unique events.
WILDCARD  [author] 13 Jun, 2023 @ 6:46am
@Azhrei Definitely strong, not balanced at all for MP. At the same time, the Zerg trait just gives the same bonuses that machine empires get, which in my opinion says a lot about how strong machines are.
@Malikto Should be possible, but only if you are not using it since at most one empire will start with this origin.
@Noxara I will look into it, but no promises.
Odin 12 Jun, 2023 @ 6:12pm
It blatantly is incredibly strong @Azhrei lol!

But that doesn't make it unfun! Turn the difficulty up and see if you can survive!
Azhrei_ 12 Jun, 2023 @ 3:58pm
Is it just me or does this seem incredibly strong?
Malikto 12 Jun, 2023 @ 3:57am
Will the AI use this?
Naraxa 10 Jun, 2023 @ 7:28pm
Is it possible to have the overmind as our ruler portrait for this origin? I think that'd be sick
