@kalanyr, this appears to be working just fine with 1.16 and Khans of the Steppe. No CTDs for me and it's in a modlist of 150+ mods.
Element 2 Apr @ 11:54am
you are correct actually, it seems to be a mod interaction crashing this.

Tried with only this mod and it works fine.
Element 2 Apr @ 11:44am
Yeah the built-in designer before you start a new game.
kalanyr  [author] 2 Apr @ 11:42am
You're talking about the built in Ruler Designer right ? Not Spouse Designer or the Ruler Designer with the Toggle ?

I don't understand why this would cause a crash by itself with but it's not impossible, Paradox sometimes changes stuff without proper documentation *sigh*.
Element 2 Apr @ 11:37am
Turning this mod off does not crash
Element 2 Apr @ 11:37am
Just tested, this mod causes the game to crash upon loading the custom char designer.
kalanyr  [author] 2 Apr @ 11:35am
Would not think so but haven't checked.
Element 2 Apr @ 11:30am
Does this need an update?
kalanyr  [author] 16 Oct, 2024 @ 1:41am
I'll upload both the final 1.12 version (that I missed uploading to steam) to GitHub and the version for 1.13.0 shortly thereafter , so expect two uploads to there. The 1.13.0 version should be compatible with 1.13.1 but I'm uploading it now for people who want to stick to 1.13.0
kalanyr  [author] 10 Oct, 2024 @ 1:49am
No, for some deranged reason Paradox setup the function to read gene strength to read it before Trait before modifiers. I have a mod to deal with that in progress but it ended up becoming an Immortality ( + related management stuff ( curing diseases / maimed / setting visual age / etc ) mod as well so it's not done yet.
FeetEnjoyer 9 Oct, 2024 @ 11:39pm
Is it possible add a gene trait to rescue my bald ? My character only 30 but it already bald
shay 1 Oct, 2024 @ 5:56am
@kalanyr Thank you for the update and your effort to keep these mods alive. I admit I've mostly waited for this update, I see old people in the mirror, no need for that in CK3 😉
kalanyr  [author] 1 Oct, 2024 @ 12:17am
Huh, an update that isn't going to drive me insane neat. This should get updated today, just need to test it to make sure it's all good.

As with most of my updates for 1.13 so far this is going to be super not backwards compatible. I'll update the missing final version for 1.12 when I upload this to Github, you should be fine with the current GitHub release for 1.12 , you'll just be missing the stand alone Beauty Aging Trait.
papiermacher 30 Sep, 2024 @ 1:58pm
Thank you for making this mod! I really enjoy it and look forward to the fix for 1.13.!
kalanyr  [author] 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:51am
*hmmmm* I don't know why this would break with 1.13 but duly noted.

*squint* looks like I uploaded the wrong mod version at some point that's why you can't find the stand alone trait. Will fix that when I update this for 1.13.
Альфа 1918 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:39am
Btw it doesn't work as of 1.13
Альфа 1918 25 Sep, 2024 @ 3:16am
@kalanyr where is the standalone age_beauty gene activator mod?
kalanyr  [author] 13 Apr, 2024 @ 7:22am
@Paty Kerry
No. 25 was chosen because 25 is the age that corresponds to no modifiers to the portrait from age and timeless_appearance removes almost all modifiers from age (there's a couple that aren't caught, I assume because Paradox added them later (eyebrow colour and neck height))
Paty Kerry 13 Apr, 2024 @ 7:03am
Question about the timeless appearance. If I change the age in ksd_birthday to 40, will it retains the appearance of age 40 instead of 25?
kalanyr  [author] 11 Apr, 2024 @ 9:21am
Next thing I'm going to do is try and make Pattern Baldness play nicer with immortality / slow aging but that's probably going to be at least partially a stand alone mod, so other's can incorporate it into their stuff.
kalanyr  [author] 11 Apr, 2024 @ 9:20am
@Альфа 1918
Okay, I have now added a stand alone Slow Aging congenital trait.
kalanyr  [author] 30 Mar, 2024 @ 2:57pm
Not yet, I'll definitely finish updating all my stuff for 1.12 before I start adding new features.
Альфа 1918 30 Mar, 2024 @ 7:07am
Did you end up making it?
Альфа 1918 24 Mar, 2024 @ 1:11am
Please do.
kalanyr  [author] 24 Mar, 2024 @ 12:54am
Yeah, I can make a stand alone version of easy wearing.
Альфа 1918 23 Mar, 2024 @ 7:36pm
I already use easy wearing, it's the reason why I downloaded this mod, but it gets upgraded generations in
shay 23 Mar, 2024 @ 3:29pm
@Альфа 1918 I think Easy Wearing is not upgradable, don't use Fey Blooded or Timeless Appearance, but Easy Wearing.
Альфа 1918 23 Mar, 2024 @ 7:33am
Can you make the trait not upgradable? I really don't want my characters to look ageless, only age well. I wish Paradox implemented this with the "graceful aging" dynasty perk oh my fucking god why don't they think of these things
CleanBandito 18 Mar, 2024 @ 4:44pm
Does anyone have a list for these trait ID's? I'm trying to remove them via the console commands but I cant seem to find them.
vibroluxan 13 Mar, 2024 @ 3:00pm
@shay thanks for turning me on to Divine Intervention, that looks like a mod I will really like. And I was able to add the desired trait using it. I also unsubscribed/resubscribed, so both things may have helped. Thank you!
shay 13 Mar, 2024 @ 9:56am
@vibroluxan still works for me, I have custom char interactions written a while ago which apply these genes without problem. Also, I suggest using Divine Intervention Menu: much easier to apply particular traits that way. If this doesn't work, perhaps uninstall and install the mod again?
vibroluxan 13 Mar, 2024 @ 8:45am
I tried adding it using "add_trait" with the trait IDs provided in an earlier post such as "add_trait ksd_ageless" and it is saying "invalid trait name". Is this working with the current update? Or am I doing it wrong when trying to add it to my character using the console? I forgot to look for it in the character editor before starting my game. It seems like I've used the console commands successfully in the past.
kalanyr  [author] 16 Nov, 2023 @ 4:33am
In that case you just need to set genetic to no, for the traits that have it to yes, it's already set up so they don't spawn naturally and are only available through the Ruler Designer (and descendants thereof)
Paty Kerry 16 Nov, 2023 @ 1:17am
I love your mod but I only want to apply it to certain characters. Thank you very much for your helpful explanation.
kalanyr  [author] 16 Nov, 2023 @ 1:04am
They don't effect appearance at all (only genetic, the random spawn chance and random birth chance and ruler designer visible effect appearance ), I guess good sort of does because if a trait is set to genetic and good then it can change the rate of appearance but as long as its not set to genetic it doesn't matter.
Paty Kerry 16 Nov, 2023 @ 12:59am
I see. So if I don't want the traits to appear anywhere other than debug, just set those three parameters to 'no' right?
kalanyr  [author] 16 Nov, 2023 @ 12:40am
Good traits are regarded as positive by the engine (if you have bad congenital traits you can't take the Strengthen Bloodline decision for example even if you meet the other requirements ) , I don't think it matters for anything except congenital traits , because it's also what determines whether or not the trait is regarded as positive/good or bad/negative for the purposes of the Blood legacy and I can't think of anywhere else except for that decision and legacy where it matters.

Physical indicates a trait is of the body ( I think everything inherited except the "descended from a prophet" kind of traits are physical (because those are actually social products of what people think your descent is rather than physical characteristics) as is a bunch of stuff you'd expect ) rather than of the mind ( personality traits aren't body for example)
Paty Kerry 16 Nov, 2023 @ 12:33am
In your traits, if I set genetics to 'no' it will not be inherited. But what about good and physical? The wiki doesn't explain about it.
shay 23 Aug, 2023 @ 5:42am
Atm, most mods are working fine for me with Wards & Wardens, although I don't see any new content though, besides exchanging hostages which is mostly useless, because people have no hostages to exchange 😉
kalanyr  [author] 23 Aug, 2023 @ 4:23am
This shouldn't require any update for 1.10 but I'll need to do the testing for Spouse Designer before I touch update the version for this at the same time.
shay 1 Jul, 2023 @ 9:10am
@kalanyr Oh, okay, I'll double check so both parents have Fey Blooded. I assumed Fey Blooded is replaced by Ageless trait at 25, but if not that makes sense. Thanks.
kalanyr  [author] 26 Jun, 2023 @ 7:40pm
Do both parents have Fey Blooded which is the actual Congenital Trait. Timeless Appearance is responsible for setting the Aging gene to Ageless but is not directly inheritable ( rather characters with Fey Blooded gain it when they turn 25 )
shay 26 Jun, 2023 @ 7:22pm
I have one additional problem, Fey Blood is not inherited when a child is born outside marriage, particularly when it gets mother's dynasty, both mother and father have timeless appearance, but the child inherits only Glamour, not Fey Blood. Checked in multiple configurations, with hundreds of children, same thing.
FunGaming44 15 Jun, 2023 @ 4:02am
Strange in most cases they can, will have to keep an eye on it
kalanyr  [author] 14 Jun, 2023 @ 8:36pm
@FunGaming44
I have double checked this and none of the other debug interactions explicitly block the AI. Are you sure that the AI doesn't start blocked by default in the absence of any enabling modifiers ?
FunGaming44 14 Jun, 2023 @ 7:59am
Thanks
kalanyr  [author] 14 Jun, 2023 @ 7:08am
@FunGaming44
I'll fix that tomorrow I guess , there's a bunch of typos I didn't catch in the effect.
FunGaming44 14 Jun, 2023 @ 4:59am
1 problem with the interaction you added, the AI can also do it if you have debug active. You need to add that the Ai can't use it
shay 13 Jun, 2023 @ 10:06pm
Thank you very much!
kalanyr  [author] 13 Jun, 2023 @ 9:18pm
@shay
Added now.
