Could it be related to clothing? Another mod with the same functionality creates characters in a nude state with varying bust shape. Additionally, I'm not sure if the mod hasn't been updated for too long. Both your and another person's mods can easily cause the game to crash when creating characters.

They've probably changed the genes for that since last time I updated then, I'm working on updating mods now so I'll get to this eventually.

The options for bust shape are all the same, no matter which one is chosen, there is no change

I don't think there's a good way to do an EPE compatch just due to the way it does things but maybe a stand alone version for it is, I think I'd have to contact the EPE maintainers for that because unlike vanilla I don't have a good understanding of what is and isn't supposed to be use directly.

This should work with toggle nudity by default, if it's not I assume it's because the last update broke one or the other and I haven't updated for 1.15 yet (or you have a mod conflict )

I do have a mod I'm working on to make baldness behave better but I'm fairly constrained by the game engine.

Do you think you can add a trait or even decision that, somehow blocks the check or overrides the affects of the check that adds baldness at each age stage? I mean even if you can't, the most minimal ability to change baldness would be nicer than nothing.

The way baldness works is not great, the gene type isn't actually checked only the unmodified strength and all that controls is the age the phases of baldness apply.

Most of the visible effects of baldness actually come from the hair style , which is why some hairstyles don't show baldness at all and most only show one stage + normal and IIRC there's only 1 or 2 that show normal + stage 1 + stage 2.

I dunno that there's a good way to display it and convey that information but if you've got ideas I'm happy to listen.

Not aware of a type 5 aging do you mean Beauty aging ? If they've added a type 5 that's a normal aging gene I'll reenable that.

Beauty and Ageless aren't intended to be used directly and Ageless in particularly really fucks up <25s who have it as their dominant gene. You can use steam://openurl/https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2986314586 to get access to those 2 genes in a way that behaves properly.

Safe Genes Unlocked for 1.13 now uploaded to GitHub, this should be compatible with 1.13.1.* too. You don't need to care about this if you're just using the Steam mod but this update should help people who are sticking to 1.13.0.* games.

@uLi @kalanyr Not sure compatibility matters much currently considering that EPE should be incompatible with the whole current version of the game. Their team won't be able to get an update out for 1.13+ for several weeks at the minimum due to being preoccupied.

Probably still incompatible. Unless EPE changes how it does genes it would require a fair bit of tinkering from me to deal with . The EPE Devs might have an easier time because they'd understand the gene dependency stack that causes the crash better than I do.

I would ask the PoD people to make the comppatch in this case ( you can tell them to send me a friend request with a msg that it's about this + PoD if that helps) because they have a much better idea which PoD genes are safe to directly edit than I do.

Hi any chance could make patch for Prince of Darkness mod? It mostly works but did notice it messes up some wings and some of the monster forms found in barbershop.

Yeah, I see what's happening now, EPE first overwrites the core morph genes but then also extends the core morph genes (which it expects to be the overwritten ones) later . There's no good way for another mod that wants to alter the base genes to play nice with that.

I'll have to try trimming my modifications file down to only the gene blocks that are changed and see if that happens to get rid of the conflict. Even if it works it'll make maintenance harder for me so that sucks,

Confirming CTD in Ruler Designer if you have this and EPE installed -- clicking on head/neck gives insta-CTD. This mod also makes everyone a dwarf (i.e., everyone who comes to your court) if you are using Unpredictable Character Stories (which distributes height genes to all NPCs).

Found the issue, I accidentally synced two lines instead of one, which means that as well as making the formatting match I also made the Muscles / Body Shape stuff invisible. Should be fixed now.

Can you provide a screenshot of what you mean please ? There shouldn't have been any changes to the visible genes, changes were purely for consistency & readability.

It was possible to select a body for a character, but after the latest update, this option was removed.

Yeah, probably what is happening. I don't remember what was in the crash logs when I looked at the time when I reported that - but that sounds about right. ^^

Thank you for the detailed report. I'll check into it but I think you're correct that EPE likely either makes this redundant or would need an EPE specific version for anything it leaves hidden (since the point of this mod is to only unlock the stuff that's actually supposed to be genetic and leave the utility stuff hidden ). I wonder if there's anything I can do to avoid the Crash to Desktop though (I'd guess the problem is their GUI but my genes are getting loaded )

I did test this with no mods other than; EPE, Spouse Designer 1.11, Safe Genes (This Submod ^^).

Steps to reproduce the crash:

Load Order:

Spouse Designer 1.11
Safe Genes
EPE

Modded Game Rules:

Edit after start: Enabled
Edit characters: Any
(EPE): Inbred options: off

Go to 1066, (not sure if that matters; but just giving steps of what I did! ^^)
Go to start as a custom ruler,
Click on East Anglia and click Edit Family,
Click Create Your Own Ruler,
Click "Change Appearance,"
Click Customize Further,
Click "Head and Neck"
Crash

--

P.S I reinstalled EPE before testing; just to make sure on the right version of EPE. ^^

I believe I may have found an incompatibility between this submod and EPE.

So, EPE just updated to include a new decal thing in the Neck & Head section of the ruler designer, and so; when you specifically have this submod on and then head into Neck & Head, you get a CTD. Which does make sense; conflicting in the same areas and all ^^-

-but I just wanted to report this so that you know that it seems to not be working together now ^^, or at least from what I've seen from the testing that I tried. ^^

Also, not sure if you even need to make a fix for this - since doesn't EPE add the same things when it is on? Think so but not 100^ sure.. - but if they do; might just want to add a thing in description to say it's not compatible with EPE or something.. I don't know. ^^

I might also have a bad load order - not sure. ^^

Hey I used this mod recently with more bookmarks+ mod as ruler designer in that mod is locked.
So while using this mod when I click on nose or head to edit in ruler designer it crashes

Interesting, the load function probably doesn't refresh that field because it's not intended to be visible, not sure if I can do anything about that ( most of the load stuff isn't exposed for modding)

Odd, I don't remember that behaviour I'll have to look into it.

(Though it's worth remembering if you exit the Ruler Designer every time you reenter it , it's a new character , it's not really a customizer for the current character it instead creates a new character based on the current one and then when you're done designing carries over the titles the selected character had )

There's no "minimum" for gene_age, there's only a couple of different types of standard aging (which both make you look older as you get older) and gene strength (each character has 2 "genes" for each category and the strength is mostly how they get blended as well as inheritance stuff ).

If you set a character to 120 and compare any of the normal aging genes to Beauty aging you'll see a big difference because Beauty aging will look much much younger, but the other options will only effect the visual cues they use to indicate age (iirc they have different changes to the cheeks for example )

but in the ruler designer when I set the characters gene_age to the minimum, and adjust the age, I don't seem to notice a difference with when the gene_age is higher.

Is that just a skill issue then and I gotta get my eyes checked? That would make sense if it were the case
