this looks awsome.

I installed this with low expectations but it actually makes a pretty good difference. Way better than just empty space in my opinion.

Woah!
Ƨuǵurᶖ»ℓ♡ѵè 7 Sep, 2023 @ 3:51pm
very well Thank you. I will be sure to do that. I usually backup my saves and world files in like 2 or 3 different places every so often or whenever I go to change stuff.
cutieryan  [author] 7 Sep, 2023 @ 3:44pm
It should be safe to install & uninstall at anytime. Just remember to backup your save file before trying new mods.
Ƨuǵurᶖ»ℓ♡ѵè 6 Sep, 2023 @ 3:09pm
will this mod still operate well even if inserted into an already active save file? I know many mods can be of course added to active games with few exceptions. there are some mods that are one way trips or that require a new game. but it isn't always obvious with every mod so I was wonder if you could or not with this.
las tres bakas 2 Sep, 2023 @ 10:58am
i like this mod, the galaxies movie in the background which seems unintentional based on what people are saying but honestly i dont think its a bad thing. the universe does feel much nicer now, and i think you did a good job on it.
cutieryan  [author] 15 Aug, 2023 @ 12:47pm
@Darian Stephens
Before I released my mod, I had tried my best to make the background properly move with the stars, but sadly it doesn't work like a planet's parallax and I don't know how to solve that.

And I also agree that it would be awesome for the stars to be shaped like galaxies, but the part of star generation that defines the universe's shape (perlin noise) is hard-coded into the game, and may be beyond what a modder could do without the source code.
Darian Stephens 15 Aug, 2023 @ 7:24am
Huh. Having tried the mod now, it seems the galaxies are still in the background, so they don't move with the stars.
I wonder if there's anything you can do about that? I believe the ideal would be if the background had no parallax vs the stars, so they appear to actually be placed on the galaxies.
Currently, I can't tell where they're meant to be positioned on it if I'm panning the view around, with the only consistency being if I explore without moving the menu at all.

On a related note, no idea if it's even possible with the game's modding, but it would be really cool to see stars generate in actual galaxy shapes, so you can have varying-sized shaped clusters of stars with mostly-empty space between them.

@Darian Stephens
It's simply changes the navigation UI's background.
Thank you for pointing out the description, I'll try making it easier to understand.
Darian Stephens 11 Aug, 2023 @ 4:13pm
So, what exactly IS this mod?
Does it just change the overall background image in the navigation console to one big image consisting of these galaxies, or is there more to it? The description is pretty vague.
cutieryan  [author] 27 Jul, 2023 @ 11:57pm
@Redoran
I am fully aware of that it's incompatible with the original Dark Space mod. Fortunately, somebody had made an alternate version that leaves the cockpit UI intact. I had tested that version with my mod and they're fully compatible.

You can find the alternate Dark Space mod here. I hope it helps!

Note that this has a conflict with the Dark Space mod. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=971634619

So if you want darker stars as a background on your ship you'll have to give up these galaxies and vice versa.
Nosnek199 5 Jul, 2023 @ 9:06pm
oh. lol. the browser loaded a bunch more comments after I posted my previous comment. i'll test the mod again and see if it works. sorry for the confusion!
Nosnek199 5 Jul, 2023 @ 9:04pm
The way frackin universe UI is messed up, is that the galaxy map does seem out of resolution. it is sort of hard for me to describe, but it is like the galaxy UI is moved north-west. and the space that is was in is like a border box. I'll get a screenshot and post it as an imgur link next time I comment.
The frackin universe wiki does say that any mod that edits the cockpit files is incompatible with it, so you might want to follow the other user's advice and use a patch.

I can confirm it's working for me too. Thanks alot for fixing it! :SVSNepgear:
Terra B Welch 29 Jun, 2023 @ 9:40am
Take my golden unicorn! :D
Terra B Welch 29 Jun, 2023 @ 9:34am
Checked the mod on my end too after the update!
It works like a charm! Thank you so very much for the fixes!
Sumenora 29 Jun, 2023 @ 8:08am
@cutieyan Confirmed it is now working again and i can readd this to my list of best mods once more <3
cutieryan  [author] 28 Jun, 2023 @ 5:53pm
@Prodigy
Thank you for your help!

For everyone else who wants to know what the problem was, turns out the problem was that the two images had incorrect names twice in the row.
Prodigy 28 Jun, 2023 @ 5:50pm
With the recent update, I can confirm that it works now! I just had to verify integrity to reset the load order, and it works just fine!
Loududdy 28 Jun, 2023 @ 8:31am
@cutieryan I think it's just the mod itself, I started a new universe with just this mod and it did not show up.:SBpenguin:
Loududdy 28 Jun, 2023 @ 8:24am
I think this broke, it worked for a bit but it isn't there.
ThePhirst 27 Jun, 2023 @ 8:03pm
something in the mods not working unfortunately yeah.
Cpt. Victor 27 Jun, 2023 @ 6:03pm
mod doesnt work
tigerfestival1988 27 Jun, 2023 @ 12:56am
Same here.
hypr 26 Jun, 2023 @ 4:34pm
yea I am missing the galaxies as well.
cutieryan  [author] 24 Jun, 2023 @ 10:34pm
@Sumenora
That's really strange. Maybe backup your save and try my mod with a fresh universe?
Sumenora 24 Jun, 2023 @ 7:22pm
i removed all mods and only used this and i still didnt see the background change....something is wrong here.
Sumenora 24 Jun, 2023 @ 7:02pm
@cutieryan hmmm...im gonna have to do a few checks on if their is any conflicts
cutieryan  [author] 24 Jun, 2023 @ 6:15pm
@Sumenora
Really? I have been using my mod from the Workshop for a while and I haven't had any problems like that. I don't know what could be causing this issue for you.
Sumenora 24 Jun, 2023 @ 3:59pm
@cutieryan basically it just set to the default background after you turned it into the patch.
cutieryan  [author] 24 Jun, 2023 @ 3:11pm
I think I might know what the problem is. Do any of you use Dark Space by Gay Moth Aunt.
It's the only other mod that I know of that changes the Navigation UI's background.

Thankfully, someone made an alternate version of Dark Space that I use that has no cockpit UI changes like in the original, which you can find here . This version is compatible with the Cutieverse.
nightscale15 24 Jun, 2023 @ 12:16pm
I just checked my game and it isn't working for me either. I know i was on the edge of a galaxy the last time I played, so it definitely is the mod
cutieryan  [author] 24 Jun, 2023 @ 11:52am
@Terra B Welch
@Sumenora

Because there's a chance that you may end up between the five galaxies after installing, I had added mini-galaxies for people to follow in case this happened; You may need to travel far until you see one. The mini-galaxies are colour-coded so they can guide you to the nearest galaxy.

If the problem is that you see default background, (dark blue cloud,) then I might need to double-check. But I'll change the priority just in case.
Terra B Welch 24 Jun, 2023 @ 1:01am
same as Sumenora here, while it no longer breaks FU planets in the UI, the skin doesn't show up at all for me.

I'm trying to figure out what mod in my pack could be conflicting but if it's just a priority thing maybe it's not that hard of a fix?
Sumenora 24 Jun, 2023 @ 12:44am
your earlier update seemed to have made it not work for me...can you make the mod higher priority in your metafile?...
cutieryan  [author] 23 Jun, 2023 @ 7:46am
@Prodigy
You're welcome! Thank you for your help! :D
Prodigy 23 Jun, 2023 @ 5:47am

The FU compatibility issue has been fixed! :D
Morpho_matter 21 Jun, 2023 @ 3:02pm
IT'S PERFECT.
tigerfestival1988 20 Jun, 2023 @ 6:39pm
I hope someone will make an FU patch. I'd love to give this mod a go.
hypr 19 Jun, 2023 @ 5:54pm
I'll keep an eye on this.
Ultimate Primal 19 Jun, 2023 @ 2:42pm
hmmmm, now this, seems interesting to me.
Terra B Welch 18 Jun, 2023 @ 8:25pm
well if you ever manage to fix FU compatibility let me know!
Erumeldir 18 Jun, 2023 @ 6:30pm
. . . Yeah, this is what I've been needing for a while. Thank you. :gtfoheart:
AnomNom 17 Jun, 2023 @ 1:11pm
Look into this [starbounder.org], patch files are a basic necessity when modding Starbound.
Prodigy 17 Jun, 2023 @ 11:46am
I can tell you more on Discord.
cutieryan  [author] 17 Jun, 2023 @ 11:29am
@Prodigy
Really? Thank you for letting me know that it's possible!
How do I make a patch anyways?
