That's amazing, I had the VE rockman but they would always have a meltdown due to "lack of food variety" bro you eat rocks, I am sorry I cannot get you different flavor of rock.

Hello everyone, there will not be fast update for 1.5, because I want to rebalance and rewrite some parts of this mod. I'm going to replace time related need with consuming calculated need. This mean when pawn ingest something variety needs will be recalculated, therefore, if for some reason pawn don't have need in food(modded genes or modded implants), it won't be affected with this mod.

I've got a question - do the hediffs from this mod satisfy Transhumanist desire for body modifictiona? That might be the case in my game but I'm not sure if this mod is doing it.

Issue ive found it when using healer mech serum it will target both deficiencies and being full of something count when using a healer mech serum, if that could be fixed it would be amazing

Question: does hunger rate affect this mod's needs? I mean, if a custom xenotype has hunger rate 50% - will said xenotype lose protein/vitamin/carbohydrates needs at half the normal rate, like it loses the hunger need?

I second the request to add an option to disable food variety for certain xenotypes. "Alpha Genes" and "Vampires, Demons and the Undead" add xenotypes with genes that reduce their food consumption to zero (Lapis and Dracul), but their food variety bar still decreases so I have to manually shove meals down their throats every now and then to stop them from whining and throwing tantrums.
Also yes, the debug log is really flooded with info from this mod. Could you please add an option to disable it?

Also requesting the mod writes less into the debug log as it makes debugging difficult if running a lot of mods since the log becomes so cluttered.

would it be possible to add an option to remove food variety for specific hediffs and/or xenotypes? Thinking of species like rom vampires who only feed on blood, or hussars who should genetically not care about what food they eat

Awesome mod. Always provided my pawns with variety of food and things like berries as well as meat for RP reasons, that this mod actually implements the exact mechanics for. Really good and forces away that nothing but rice playstyle.

I love this mod! I've always tried to roleplay this mechanic in my colonies every time I play. I am curious about the possibility to parse out certain vegetables to give vitamins as well (I have VPE and it just seems weird that bell peppers, garlic, onions and the like fill carbohydrates instead of vitamins). Either way, I love the mod regardless!

Also - anyway to toggle or remove the logging in the debug every time someone eats a meal? Its annoying when I'm trying to debug something else.

Bug: settings "Allow stacking foods with different ingredients" and "Disable food variety cooking" seem to not be saved and both default to True, leading to pawns merging stacks of meals with different ingredients first thing after game start.

Small Bug.

Healer Mech Serum seems to 'cure' things like Full of Carbohydrates etc. Guessing it does the same for 'Full of X' nutrient.

@Хокаге - dependency hediffs is what I'm looking for (among other things). I run completly drug-free colony, so I usually keep prisoners with dependencies cold turkey until they have no hediffs left.

I’ve opened two proposals ( one [github.com], two [github.com]), terribly sorry that the descriptions are in Russian—didn’t expect anyone but the author to read them, and it was already too late to switch to English. Would you kindly use DeepL [www.deepl.com]? Just feed it one paragraph at a time and you’ll be good (very important). Or skip the descriptions altogether—they aren’t that important, just detailing my train of thought; the actual numbers is where it’s at.

That’s pretty much what I had in mind, just shuffled the stats around where it made sense for particular modded items. The key thing was to try to fix plants providing only carbs by default, so most plants are now 50/50% vitamins and carbs, some have it a bit higher, some smaller, and some even provide proteins like our lord and savior the soybean—vegetarian colonists will love this.

Vitamines - eh, fine then I guess. Just confusing seeing both spellings in game and in the code.

Don’t waste your time, I’m about to open a PR, pretty much finished with a big list of mods, but I’d be happy to hear your thoughts on balancing.

AFAIK, “vitamines” is an archaic form, so it’s technically correct, but we just don’t talk this way. Not that big of a deal.

I've started working on a patch for Vanilla Plants Expanded and its addon 'More Plants'.

I've noticed in game and in the defs that Vitamins is spelt 'Vitamines'. I'm assuming thats a spelling mistake?

Happy to merge the patches after testing to github.

@irilis A lot of mods add hediffs, even vanilla, if pawn have a dependency, add hediffs, is it works different from my mod's hediffs?

One negative side effect from this mod - now *every* pawn has hediffs (full of ... / lack of ...). I can't pick out sick pawns at a glance in a list (from Numbers mod).

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature but if fine meals that are not made with EXACTLY the same ingredients they will not stack, leading to bloated storage full of 1 stack meals. same problem applies with other kinds of meals.

@J @Lord Shaw I'm currently working on improvements for meals cooking, right now it's really annoying to provide food variety with different ingredients. Unfortunately, I don't have time for making patches with other mods right now.
About carbohydrates and vitamins in plants, in vanilla only agave and berries provide vitamins, others plants are crops and provide carbohydrates.

Ya, I tested this yesterday, vegetables that are modded in provide incorrect nutrients, e.g., greens that should mainly provide vitamins just provide a lot of carbs instead. We’ll need to do a lot of patching—I’ll have some free time either this weekend, or next week, will go through the list that @daz_ian posted below and open pull requests on GitHub. Either way, if you’re planning to do local patches in the meantime, please share them.

Nice job, I've waited a mod like this for a long time!
But I found that vegetables don't provide vitamins, it's really strange. Maybe you should devide plants into vegetables and grains. I will try to make my own patch first.

I've thought about adding settings for food in mod settings, but it require complex interface and for now i'm not good at it, maybe in the future.
