Poorly balanced. Character is extremely overpowered. If you wanna play this in easy mode, this is the mod for you. Doesn't really add any particularly interesting decisions.

Fantastic mod, not only does it play really well and have fun combos but its not so outlandishly different stylistically to the point where I think I'm playing modded content. seriously fantastic job with this.

well,i found a bug today.(i am not sure whether it is my problem,but it is amazing) somehow the giant Kakka(the boss of 3rd floor) become invincible( i can't use my card to select it ,that's amazing!)(i just can't see his blood bar). by the way, your mod is very perfect!

Holy banner magic Flagbearer! That's a lot of flagbearers!

Just wanted to drop in and say thank you so much for 10k subscribers to The Flagbearer! I said it way back at 1k and I'll say it again, it really means a lot that I could make an experience that you (hopefully) resonated with! Very nice mod it is! Are you inspired by Jeanne d'Arc when you design her?

I tried to load this mod in simplified Chinese. If I load your mod alone (or with mods that does not meddle too much with characters, relics, cards, etc.), everything will be fine. If I load it with those excluded mods, I am stuck at the very beginning of the game. I am sure it is not a translation problem, because I can load other untranslated mods and they work. The console prompts error about not finding the upgrade description of "Tear Reality". I tried to fix it by editing the localization in jar, and it did not work, presumably due to my editing with a wrong editor, and the container is destroyed. Maybe you can try to fix this?

I like this mod, and I can make a simplified Chinese translation for you. However, I do not know how to make one. Is it suffice if I make a CHS copy of localization jsons enough? Do contact me if there's anything I can do.

yeah I get that, fair enough... just a side note: there are dynamic text options which make it much easier, only requiring a few special characters in the resource file

@JamesTripleQ While I think having a dynamic text for "cards" in that instance would be really nice, I think the implementation of it is too intricate for the payoff. Cards generally only have variable numbers (damage, block, magic). The only cards which I know to have dynamic descriptions are to add the inclusion of calculated damage (like Blizzard) which is easier because it's stapled on the end of the card description.

I believe it'd be too complicated of an implementation to make the middle of the card description variable so I guess we're "drawing 2 card".

Mind if I request a super tiny feature? Could you add dynamic text for words like "card"? Cause I was playing with spicy shops and got a modifier where it increases the magic number of cards so I had "draw 2 card" on Rapier I think... it's super minor and doesn't impact gameplay at all so I understand if you don't want to add this.

ah nice... pretty smart idea actually (I tried making a boss swap relic once and it requires a very sketchy method yeah)

while I don't think it would work well with the vanilla starter relics (immagine an ironclad boss relic that's identical to its starter) it works well here give how it adds a few extra functionality rather than "number bigger now".

@JamesTripleQ Initially the entire text for the plant/recall was strapped onto Mystical Banner. But I realised later that would make relic swapping very difficult.

What is supposed to be the upgraded relic is "Ethereal Banner" as it would do the entire text of plant/recall twice. I recognise there are differences in how this plays (For example a relic swap can still choose Ethereal Banner) but it also allowed me to dodge the super sketchy code for boss upgrades (which I also had trouble implementing *sad*)

This may be fixed eventually, ethereal banner would have the "gain might" text in addition to it's current text and upgrade the starter relic.

Very well-designed character. More intuitive and rounded then Watcher, with crazy AOE and scaling built into the stance and modifiers cards. Pulse build carried me through ASC 20 with ease.

★It's interesting design to change flag state, you can gain moderate benefit from plant state, but you need remove it due to descending benefit.
★The chara is well balanced, it's not too strong or too weak.
★there's lots well draw art, even heart-defeated image
☆although there're many cards, but it seems the builds is limited, there're few builds that are very different ( like poison and knife building )

@toast, the starter relic adds an additional might when planting. Plant by default provides 1 might. I personally don't boss swap a lot in StS but I know others do. The scaling on boss swap is instead, 1, 0, -2 over the 3 turns planted instead of 2, 1 , -1. I felt this was a fair trade off.

There are two cards which reference Aura: Might directly, Reinforce Banner and Aura: Accel. Indirectly, other scaling cards are supposed to help mitigate negatives on the last turn before auto-recalling. Playing a card with recall is ofc also always available =D.

Enjoyable character. Planting your flag is a lot less powerful than Watcher's Stances, but that's arguably a good thing. Went for a "stance dance" build with offbrand flurry of blows for my first game, killed the heart. Getting 2 energy relics and Blessing for +6/+6 in my starting hand arguably carried that pretty heavily though.

Rewind Time seems really strong as a pseudo-draw engine, considering you can generate energy fairly easily with plant and unplant (not to mention getting multiple copies and just using your favorite combo every turn). Pulse seems pretty difficult to build around, though. You definitely want it more to trigger other abilities rather than for its direct damage.

Haven't tried it yet, but how does this character fare with a boss swap? I didn't see any other cards with Aura Might, which makes me think the starting relic is all you get in that regard, which makes Plant synergies a bit rougher if you're not getting any stats out of it.

Enjoying this character so much. The synergy that is possible definitely begs you to come back for more. The Character feels authentic as if this is actual game content. I will be spending more time playing The Flagbearer more often. I hope some adds this to the Downfall mod that is offered to those who buy the game as free DLC. Regardless,a must play and own for those who enjoy this game. :reheart: :zagwow:

It's a very minor nitpick, but I wish the character had a 2nd sprite for when their flag in planted. It would help differentiate between the two stances.

Aside from that, awesome class. I love it.

nikolay, try playing with many aura cards (powers that only work if flag is planted)
apply weak, vulnerable, -3 damage, 3 pulses dealing 7 damage each, +3 str/dex, multihit cards, double block card, and its actually quite strong
and banner bonus starts at +2 and decays down to -1, after that flag returns to hand

Maybe I am must play more. But at this time I am see this character as very weak. Planted flag bonuses just ridiculously small. +1/+1 this turn, -1/-1 next turn, 3 damage. Cards like +1/+1 at flag revoke (i.e once in 2-3 turn). Any midboss with 150-200 hp and 2x16-20 strike break it with easy. It is more profitable remove flag-related cards and play with banner magic branch only.

I just got one of the most busted combos in the game:
Girya - +3 strength
Akabeko - first attack deals +8 damage
Bag of marbles - apply vulnerable to all enemies
Necronomicon - first attack with 2+ cost is played twice
combined with seraphim feathers or pillars of light(I had 2 & 1)
it dealt insane damage on first turn[(4+3+8)*1.5*6+(4+3)*1.5*6] = 198(actual damage is different due to rounding) split randomly between enemies

I've been reading the comments but wasn't sure the best way to respond. My strong YT desire to respond to all of them was superseded by being unable to find a reply button.

But, really, thank you for playing the mod! I'm glad you have been enjoying your time!

I really tried to put my heart into designing this character (cards, art, and all). It's a lot of effects, synergies, and gameplay patterns that I like playing in other card games. So I hope you continue to enjoy your time planting and waving around the flag.

Solid mod.

It knows what it wants to be and achieves this seamlessly. Looks nice, flows well, familiar mechanics with a few new twists.

Really the only thing missing is some special sauce, you know, like burst catalyst or corruption as the cherry on top of the exhaust package. You can get some juicy pillars of light or try to go infinite like watcher, but the oomph is not quite there yet (possibly by design, which is fine).

Otherwise you could save some text space here n there. Entirely optional and subjective though. It's just sort of a hobby of mine.
