The movement animations (like animated gimbal for example) would be basically impossible with AE in mind because there's currently no way to get a grid's position or orientation using animation engine API only

So these are retractable landing thrusters? In that aspect then they make sense to me. Any plans for larger or different versions?

@humanoid.mp4 Functionally in the context of aerodynamics, this makes sense. Since if SE had aerostatic friction, the fixed parts on the underside and nose of a ship (even the mains on the stern if its the belly taking the heat) the heat created by the friction would damage or destroy the exposed parts and in the case of engines possibly cause a chain reaction in the fuel system that would destroy a ship.

So this adds a solution to that, shield the thrusters. Also as you mentioned earlier these thrusters are intended for landing and breaking, so it makes even more sense to shield them. Because lets face it, how is a ship going to stop if it's main method of deceleration is slagged?

Thank you for adding a touch of realism to the game. This would be a great addition to go along with the friction mod, provided it still works.

I'm surprised game has no 'hiding' devices sans doors and pistons. At minimum deployable solar panels would have fit righ in (admitedly trivial to do now with hinges) and landing gears would have won immensely from being somewhat extendable (wheels do).

reminds me of the lift thrusters on the Jupiter 2 from lost in space, This is awesome and looks great. Looking forward to any future versions.

It's supposed to be a block for landing/takeoff, not for regular flight (otherwise there's almost no reason to turn the block off in the first place) Also it's only 0.8 efficient compared to vanilla thruster which is not that bad in terms of designing your builds. I will not change that because I don't want to.

If you really want to make changes, you can do it yourself and re-upload the mod, I'm ok with that (as long as you put a link to original mod in the description and me as one of the authors)

I'm with Zzzosi on this. Performance changes on an aesthetic block are an instant "no."

The animation does otherwise look quite nice.

Why'd you add the stupid ass thrust/durability/fuel changes instead of just making them a simple, cohesive and even alternative to vanilla/dlc thrusters? There's no trade-off for other aesthetics, yet you've forced 3 performance trade-offs for this?

Currently there's only large grid version. I might add a SG one eventually too. Also the block is pretty powerful in both vacuum and atmo, so definitely no "atmo" version
