1749 is in reference to a pre-release build of Halo 1, called 1749. That build had a unique camera setup for the main menu, using static camera placements for each menu (new campaign, load campaign, main menu, etc), instead of one long fly around the ring for all of it like they went with for the final game. The video in the mod, is me using a script to go to every camera point 1749 had. It's just a little extra.

You need to go into video settings and change all the backgrounds to the one you want.

I subscribed, but I'm still getting the default MCC menu background (with background video turned on). Same with the Halo 2 one too. What gives and how do I fix it?

no music since i just intended the videos to be used in combination with mcc's menu music, since it changes to the specific game when you're on that specific game's menu / come back to the menu from a matchmade game on that game.

hit subscribe on this page, then when it's downloaded, go into mcc, go to options and career > settings > video > configure backgrounds, pick which section you want to change, for example Halo CE, and scroll to the bottom of the list, that's where the modded videos hang out.

Some mods back in the day did actually use a DLL hack to reimplement the Halo 3 main menu to load lots of modded maps all at once, but that has since been made obsolete with steam workshop. Sadly it was also the only game where that code still existed, main menu code gets stripped out of MCC in every other game.

Thanks for the reply, very appreciative! I wish there was someway to not only add as menu backgrounds, but also re implement them into the actual campaign experience. That's too bad about Halo 3 though, since that's the one I'd want the most. But honestly I'm open to any of these just as long as they feasibly can be done or be a close facsimile. Even though the quality of your mods here on the workshop are extraordinary, I'm really not hung up if they aren't on the same bar. I'm really just desperate to have some of these back lol

TLDR: Most games are out of the question, either because of feasibility of recording, or quality concerns, but there are some like 3 and 4 that I would consider doing.

As for credits, H1 has the same issue of being low quality, also not in 16:9 aspect ratio so MCC would stretch it, or I'd have to render it out as a 4:3 video in 16:9 aspect with pillarboxing. 2 has the same benefit of Vista including them in higher quality than OG. Halo 3's I could actually run in the tools and capture that, but it'd be without the bungie credits since Halo 3 MCC broke the way the credits get rendered, so you'd not see Mount Killimanjaro in the background. Reach already has half the credits included but the rest of it is mostly just a static shot of the Pillar of Autumn heading to Installation 04, be a bit boring. H4 I could run, but actually with the credits if I can find a source bink.

For Halo 3's pack, someone pointed me to a recreation of the loading screen done on Github by Xephorium, so I added that one at least. As for CE, 2, Reach, ODST, and 4... there's no real good way to get true high quality versions of the original loading screens. At least with 2 there's the loading screen in Vista. I personally don't like the way AI upscale works, and it'd be especially bad with already compressed YT videos of the loading screens, so that's also out of the question for me.

These are by far the best and highest quality menu replacements on the workshop, I'm completely fooled thinking these are being real time rendered. Would you ever consider maybe adding back the original loading screens and end credits as well? I'm sure that would be quite a bit more challenging as it wouldn't be as simple as just replacing .bk2 files, but that would be amazing! Thanks for uploading these.

@Posh: Under the subscribe button is the collection of every menu i have done, every game is included, including Wars 2 because Wars 2 has cool menu binks. They should auto populate in the list, and frankly mine are higher quality than most you will find on the workshop, with lower file size to boot.

@Red: They do auto install, but you need to manually configure what menu video you want where in the settings. Go to Options and Career > Settings > Video > Configure backgrounds, pick a section, then scroll to below the built in videos, that's where modded videos live.

I've downloaded several other main menu themes and they don't appear when I start the game. I thought you could just hit subscribe now and it would auto-install it for you? Gonna try this one, but if I'm missing something, can someone please tell me so I can be sure? I know you used to have to manually install these, but they've changed some things.

This looks loads better now, it looks exactly like on the OG xbox, the ring has correct lighting, shadows and specular effects and the general image is much cleaner - Many thanks for your work. Please could you also do Halo 2 / 3 as the existing mods don't auto appear in the main menu.

Now updated: CE Classic has been re-recorded using the modern day tagset, CE 1749, a 1749 Build inspired flythrough has also been included, due to the space saved by re-recording the old video.

Could you re-record the classic video by any chance? It looks like it was recorded with a really outdated tagset, the ring is missing its reflections.
