@plaYer2K Hi again, simply to know if the mod is dead, if not is it possible to have it in DX11? I cant believe the spotlights ingame still have less lighting power than the helmet spotlights, big issue that Keen doesnt seem to keen on fixing.

I have some problems with it, the light source is independent from the spotlight model, so if i fly away with the ship, the emitted light still pops up at the old location.

Well the thing about that light distance is that, based on my tasts from months ago of course, the light illumination had a quadratic fade effect. So to double the actual light cone, you had to multiply the range with 4.

But i will look into it again soonTM.

I really love these lights. They are the best I've found for dark worlds. However, I do find them still falling a bit short on distance at times. Do you think they could get extended to 75 or 100, even if it is a new block?

Thanks but apparently me and some other modders have different understandings of "balance".
Like for me a thruster can not have 12x the force per block while just increasing the power consumption by 3x. That gives 4x more thrust per watt and thus is unbalanced in my honest opinion. Not to mention the increase of thrust per surface.

But like i said, that is my consideration and others release stuff i wouldnt want to play with when it wouldnt be just for the style of these blocks.

And you mod is awesome, maybe you should tell other modders how you changed the power demand because you're the only one who made it thus far in the entire community.

it work fine, you have to play with range and fade but it works fine, never was broken except when all lights were broken.

I hope to update my game soonTM so that i can see whats wrong but as i am back on 3G which is throttled after the first 250MB, i cant guarantee anything.

This mod is no longer working on our dedicated server after the most recent update. Sigh. I know the API changed. Is it something you can fix?

@Norich the bug with the Spotlights is a vanilla bug atm. They are not turning on for me and the YouTubers I watch, too. I think it is not related to the mod and the vanilla mod broke the mod and not the mod the vanilla :D (bes english evar. sry German :P)

added theese into my world and they didnt turn on they had enouh power, so i removed the mod thinking it just wasnt working and now not even vanilla spotlights work. interior lights work fine but the mod seems to have broken the vanilla spotlights even after beng removed! not sure if this is a one of case or something common with your mod but needs fixing as my darkness world is now without it's mining ships! we need fuel !

Yes that is an issue with how the games light effects work sadly.
I tried fiddling with the shader files though could not identify what causes the issues.

So if we want powerful spotlights, we have to cope with those pesty issues :U

This works great, but I find when I move up close to objects the light stops working. It as if the cone of light is originating from a few metres in front of the spotlight. I have noticed this behaviour with the normal spotlight, although less pronounced.

Is this an underlying problem with the game perhaps?

Well yeah lets cross fingers the devs dont release many other patches breaking some mods :3

But as long as we get more functionality, it is actually fine if that happens from time to time. It would however be really useful if they could tell us!

It is actually quite easy. It is a gif renamed as jpg. Though you should watch the size of your gif. Mine is 534 kB big already, so quite big.

For that size i was actually aiming for 200 kB and less but failed due to the length and frame difference.

So my advice would be to watch the size of your file.
I for example got 6kB/s down at home and thus loading that image takes about 100 seconds and this about 1 1/2 minutes. For just one, imagine the workshop full with them of that size.
That said, i am by far not satisfied with the outcome. Though the small introduction works pretty well so far from what i can tell.

I really don't get it. The file I edited is just the same as yours except for the comments... And my 'version' works. Yours doesn't. I used the compare tool for notepad++ and it says the files are the same... Maybe it's the comments? That would be fun :D I try that...

Hm you are indeed right, the block does not show up ingame anymore and i dont know why.

All you need to do is to enable the mod in the world settings. Then the "Power Spotlight" should be enabled in your G-menu.
It may take some time to distringuish the new block from the others though.

Alright i published a version that should update the crashes. Thanks to BeJay again for pointing toward those lines.

Luckily i could get an updated CubeBlock.sbc from a friend and could verify it.

I think I already got the solution:
The Log says there is a type-cast exception (LightingBlock -> ReflectorBlock)
So I compared vanilla and modded CubeBlocks.sbc and found the following critical differences:

1: Change
<Definition xsi:type="MyObjectBuilder_LightingBlockDefinition">
to
<Definition xsi:type="MyObjectBuilder_ReflectorBlockDefinition">
for both the large and the small version of the spotlight.

2: Append
<LightGlare>GlareLsLight</LightGlare>
<ReflectorTexture>Textures\Lights\reflector_large.dds</ReflectorTexture>
right after </RequiredPowerInput> of the large version.

3: Append
<LightGlare>GlareSsLight</LightGlare>
<ReflectorTexture>Textures\Lights\reflector_small.dds</ReflectorTexture>
right after </RequiredPowerInput> of the small version.

Though I'm not sure whether the LightGlare tag is necessary or not.

Well it is very sad the recent patch broke this mod.
I will need several days fixing that as my connection is astonishing 6kB/s fast and downloading SE takes at least one whole day, usually 2 though. And that only when there is no hotfix in the meantime D:
