No Same Species Predation

Sounds reasonable, thank you! I've been using the mod and no more double peregrine falcon dinner bell ringing. Territorial fighting would be interesting but sounds like it would be a bit of a heavy mod, still something i'd never thought about. I get what you mean by not finding anyone with the same problem, my guess is it could be that people aren't often using mods that frequently spawn multiple non-manhunters of the same predator on one map at a time? My bird mods seem to usually spawn a group of 3+ of a predator bird at a time, opposed to the one cougar, one lynx, one bear that I get otherwise.

Vindication! It's not just me! I swear I couldn't find anyone else with this problem...

This mod stops animals from ever hunting their own species for food. I could not be bothered to make it more nuanced than that. I believe they will still eat conspecific corpses if they stumble across them.

They could also still conceivably attack each other for non-hunting reasons, if a mod added territorial fighting or such but I'm not personally aware of any animals that do that.

Does this stop them from *ever* attacking their own species or just avoiding it unless there are no other options? I have the "foxes aren't suicidal" mod because the prey they would go for was unreasonable, but my main issue now has been peregrine falcons from BIRD UP! , minks, ferrets and owls from other mods will all hunt eachother frequently for no particular reason. It's very common for me to find two peregrine falcons dead side-by-side, which on occasion is a bit funny but it still feels like taking advantage of an unintended mechanic to me.

That's a good idea and maybe I'll get round to it -- I literally threw this thing together in an afternoon so who knows.

Is it possible to whitelist/blacklist certain animals to ignore from the effects of this mod?

I suspect it's a combination of effects. This seemed like the simplest solution -- and maybe useful to someone else out there with a similar problem.

you recommend to check for some other animal mods of yours, thoes that may modify behavior perhaps.
sometimes the least expected tweak mods make it

i also got all animals expanded, regrowth and many others, they still rarely eat each other unless its animalpocalypse by the player

Sometimes some modded animals will go for the conspecifics they spawned with before they go for other available prey (because their fellow lions/whatever are closer, I assume).

But yeah no one seems to have this problem except me. It happens all the freaking time on my maps. I feel like I'm going crazy.

this happens so rarely to me, and often when i deny them to eat anything
Alexander The Great 6 Jul, 2023 @ 3:55am
dont they do it when they run out of animals to hunt?

So it is fine for humans to cannibalize each other but not for animals?
