Oh, bahaha, I somehow didn't see that, whoopsies!
RustyDios  [author] 14 Mar @ 5:27am
Hmm, still working perfectly fine for me?
Did you make sure to also have the required mod enabled?
e. 13 Mar @ 4:17pm
Just causes a game crash if you try to select the prism, lmao
penguin 20 May, 2024 @ 2:30pm
hey, uhh, aimed prisms from this mod aren't working for me
I built a ship with internal ion beams and instead of aiming the prisms to get the lasers outside like I told it to it just tries to aim the very first set of prisms toward the enemy from the inside of the ship leading to the beams just shooting the ship it's a part of
RustyDios  [author] 5 May, 2024 @ 2:58pm
I doubt it will have anything useful in it.
Sorry it crashed for you.
sup3r87 5 May, 2024 @ 2:54pm
Hi, I tried to place the beam on a built-in and instantly crashed for some reason :(. Do you want me to send the log file?
Silverwolfss 13 Feb, 2024 @ 1:19am
GOOD NEWS it seems that your fix worked i made a emitter and prism and it didn't fire so good work
Silverwolfss 9 Feb, 2024 @ 12:59am
good to hear i will try it out later today and see if everything is fixed
RustyDios  [author] 9 Feb, 2024 @ 12:52am
So.. I think I fixed 99% of the previous issues and added 99 more.. lol
Please see updated description :)
Silverwolfss 8 Feb, 2024 @ 7:40pm
yeah the emitter is fine because it just fires the beam but the prisms are what the problem is and while your idea to reduce editor spam works with all the mods now like the star wars mod or extended tech tree the editor is already super clogged
RustyDios  [author] 8 Feb, 2024 @ 7:29pm
Yeah :(
Although one of my main idea's for this mod was to -reduce- editor spam.
The Adjustable Prisms mod I based this on does already does the job of adding several coloured prisms well enough. ... I guess at least this one has the Multi-Emitter too
Silverwolfss 8 Feb, 2024 @ 7:21pm
while putting the emitters on hold fire till battle works it gets tiring having to constantly change it back and forth if need be just make the separate prisms with all the mods everyone are using (looking at you star wars divided) the editor is already clogged
RustyDios  [author] 8 Feb, 2024 @ 6:44pm
in my current bugfixing I managed to completely reverse the situation... lol ... not firing on anything but continuous .. which is obviously better but still effed up
RustyDios  [author] 8 Feb, 2024 @ 6:41pm
yeah, that works but I don't know why
another option is to put the emitters on HOLDFIRE, then to anything else (Targetted, Auto, Continuous) for actual combat ... I'm trying to fix this tonight and I have a feeling it's to do with the chain-link not being able to handle multiple toggled parts ... in short the mod may end up needing to include all 8 prisms as separate parts (clogging up the editor window which is something I wanted to avoid)

As least the emitter itself seems to be working
Silverwolfss 8 Feb, 2024 @ 6:27pm
so update i had a idea and it worked to anyone using this mod and having the same problem as i am ( emitter constantly firing with prism) a work around is put down what ever color emitter you want lets say BLUE then use the vanilla red prism from base game then after that prism put the BLUE prism after the red and it wont constantly fire.

(ps if someone already figured this out and just never said anything please don't call me a idiot for not thinking about it till now)
Silverwolfss 8 Feb, 2024 @ 12:51pm
thats fine i just wanted to give you the heads up i cna always use another prism color mod till you have time to fix it don't rush
RustyDios  [author] 8 Feb, 2024 @ 5:07am
Thanks for providing some information that will help me to trackdown the issue :)
Unfortunately real life is keeping me busy at the moment I haven't had much chance for any modding :(
Silverwolfss 7 Feb, 2024 @ 9:03pm
so getting back to you about that constant firing problem im having so i built a ship with every weapon i have in the game and i found out what the problem is if i build just the beam emitter it won't fire constantly BUT if i add the prism to it the emitter will start to fire constantly so it's something to do with the prism
Silverwolfss 4 Jan, 2024 @ 11:51pm
yes i can turn them off and they stop but if it is on fire on target and their is no target they still fire
RustyDios  [author] 4 Jan, 2024 @ 11:06pm
Huh, weird. Can you manually turn them on/off ?
Silverwolfss 4 Jan, 2024 @ 9:48pm
no literially right after they finish being built and the crew brings power to the emitter it fires and only stops when it's out of power
RustyDios  [author] 4 Jan, 2024 @ 9:28pm
Hmm, are they being set to continuous fire or something?
Thanks for the report I'll try to find some time to investigate
Silverwolfss 4 Jan, 2024 @ 11:33am
so for some reason when ever i build the beam emitters it will start firing at nothing and only stop after it's out of power
RustyDios  [author] 14 Sep, 2023 @ 9:35am
@yoh_si
That sounds like you don't have the required mod enabled ...
yoh_sl 14 Sep, 2023 @ 2:43am
Yeah, this mod doesn't work for me anymore. It used to and I really enjoyed it, but ever since the manual ship construction patch, this mod just crashes the game the instant you click on the part. This is also the same with the Adjustable Shields mod.
I get this error: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: The given key 'color_type' was not present in the dictionary. I was hoping a future patch would fix this error, but apparently not.
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 1:13pm
Nevermind, they work the same, what i did had no effect, :isaac:
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 12:05pm
Okay after some testing, i was able to get the ion beam without the prism to fire when targeting a ship. no idea if it was already like that, imma try with the prism itself now
RustyDios  [author] 12 Sep, 2023 @ 11:40am
Yeah this mod already does use the same targeting methods.
The Painted Prisms mod (the one that adds 7 individual parts) works the same because each part has it's own individual *IonBeamChainToggle* ... this mod however has several components of called (for example) *IonBeamChainToggleRed, IonBeamChainToggleBlue, etc, etc* ... it needs setting up like this to work all as one part with toggleable-colour-beams ...

But that makes the chaining and targeting go slightly awry ..
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 11:05am
I don't know a lot about coding to be fair, but I do wonder if telling the code to get the targeting from the base game would work better, again, i dunno what im talking about just guesses, I'll play a bit with it, the other mod that adds the 8 or 7 different prisms does work, so i wonder if there's something there that can help, if i end up finding anything I'll let you know!
RustyDios  [author] 12 Sep, 2023 @ 10:45am
Yeah.. you and me both baffled :)
Like it should behave like vanilla.. but it doesn't.. there isn't much different between these and vanilla other than "hotswapping" the coloured component parts.

Which leaves us with that chain-component being the only part that I can't figure out//make it non-hacky-link to all possible components.

I mean what we have "works" .. but it's far from ideal.. but imo still better than 16 entirely new parts

If I could figure out how to use the UIColourWheel toggle and set the vertex colour things.. this would be even better tbh.. but that thing is past me, everytime I try to make it work -crash ...
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 10:07am
yeah, it will fire at the specified parts, but you have to cancel aiming afterwards or it wont shut off. Im baffled, by the code it should act just like vanilla, but it doesn't
RustyDios  [author] 12 Sep, 2023 @ 9:53am
So I think I got it working.. there's some issues though... it's just because of how this weapon type is set up. Please read the mod description Known Issues section.
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 9:04am
Thank you so much for looking into it! <3
RustyDios  [author] 12 Sep, 2023 @ 9:00am
Yeah. That line is 100% the cause. :( I'll try to fix it.. might take a while and alot of trial and error

Until then, um simple on/off and direct fire mode is all these can do...
RustyDios  [author] 12 Sep, 2023 @ 6:26am
I think it's down to this line;
ChainFireToggleComponent = IonBeamChainToggle

As the new colour part components are not named that ...
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 6:25am
I wonder if its something with the Targeter ID or something like that
RustyDios  [author] 12 Sep, 2023 @ 6:19am
Okay.. yeah. Confirmed this one.. super wierd.. let me do some investigations...
Seems to be specific to the Prisms/chains
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 5:52am
I did, it works if you take control of the ship, if you use T to target something it doesn't shoot it
RustyDios  [author] 12 Sep, 2023 @ 1:52am
Try turning the initial beam emitter on/off ? (which recalculates the chain pathing through all linked prisms)

As you can see from the screenshots they certainly do fire and do target things (the cross-over point in the last shot for example)
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 12:03am
actually seems like either the beam or the prism will not shoot
Pankeko 12 Sep, 2023 @ 12:01am
Seems like when you target something it will not shoot at it with the prisms on
