Treads were too small and visually washed out to distinguish several of them. And have no idea how to derive cat & dog answer.

Agree with others – figuring out which tread pattern matched which description was the only part that tripped me up. Had to come here for the solution

Looks like the footprints are bugged.

For those struggling, the code is starting 1 to 4 on top . 5 to 8 on bottom:

5 1 2 6 7 4 3 8

I've done everything but the footprint tracker, I just don't understand how the names match the treads

I cannot tell what each footprint description is for...
Walkthrough/Hints should tell us which foot print is considered what based on the grid it is on, rather than telling us the easiest part of the puzzle (which is just matching time).

Also, read the result for the Sound Transducer puzzle and I still can't actually figure out how to get that result.
