@Kinasin Yes the mod works with 1.0.

Played a full run recently, didn't crashed either, so I'll need more details if anything malfunctioned.

This hasn't been working for me for a long time now.
Previously I did crash in some weird places, now it crashes on world generation. But I do use other mods. Which details should I provide so it can be improved?

Loved this mod when it worked for me.

I'm not sure if I missed it, but I don't suppose there's a way to show the [roll vs diff] results on the combat log as well? I could only get that on the floating tooltip but once that's gone, it's gone.

The mod crashed my save on my desktop pc. I just tested it on my notebook and it's working with the same savefile (although I kept playing so I'm now at a different location). I'll have to check again on my desktop once I get home. I don't have any other mod installed. Might be some random bug. If it fails again, I'll upload the file. Thanks!

Started a new save on latest version and could save and continue without crash… If it happens without other mods please compress and send me your save folder through this site [file.io]. Your save folder is located here [wiki.cavesofqud.com]

I loaded an old, pre tutorial beta save a week ago without crashing. Haven't tested with a new save from current version so will check it out. If you see an error message or have other mods let me know

Thanks @hyraxsyriacus, mod was born out of many spams feature requests I made to the devs' bug tracker. Me being way too impatient I figured I'd just do it myself haha. Maybe I'm planning to do some others too who knows 👀

Cross OS compatibility is a tough one. I don't know what's needed for it to work to be honest and can't test it. I suspect it has to do with Harmony Patching since options do appear in the menu for you. Is there any error in the Player.log file?

This is a great mod! One of those "this is so great, why the heck isn't it in the base game" mods! However, I have observed a problem... running the mod on my windows machine, everything works as advertised. However, it does not appear to work at all on my OSX install (no other mods loaded). The mod appears to load properly, the mod settings are there, but none of the combat tooltips actually appear in game. Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot?

@honda Will push an update in a minute which should fix it (just tested by voluntarily dreamcrungling myself and tooltips now appear before/during/after the dream without crash). When you see the update here unsubscribe then resubscribe with Steam open and game closed to make sure you redownload it. Let me know if it still crashes in your save

I'm getting crashes on my very big save. The most I can say is that I believe it happened after getting hit by a dreamcrungle and waking up peacefully. Additionally, this was preceded by the improved tooltips just not showing up at (i.e. combined damage, penetration count, and damage type colors stopped displaying).

@everyone Crashing bug should be fixed. Existing saves that crashed on start or on move should work.

It was caused by the XP tooltips feature, which checks for a Player at the end of an action. Turns out initializing this Player to nothing at the start of the game… crashes the game now.

I'm also having these issues with this mod. It seems to crash frequently but not always. It requires a turn to pass on a prarsang map to trigger the issue - you can do anything that doesn't cost an action or even wander the world map without a crash.

I've found that trying a bunch of times can eventually result in an instance without a crash, then the game seems to work fine for a while, like a few hours at least.

I get a crash every time I try to take a step, remove Improved Combat Tooltips, works fine. Granted I have a few other mods running

This seems to be erroring when you load a game. The map loads fine but when you try to move your character, the game crashes. The player.log file doesn't show much as far as a specific line that errors but it's my only mod, and the game works fine works when it's disabled.

@everyone Mod updated. New features: display [x vs y] rolls
- Rolls on penetration, against AV [x vs AV]
- Rolls on miss, against DV [x vs DV]
- Rolls on block, against AV [x vs AV]
- Now fully supports ranged damage penetrations (and rolls)
All toggleable and combineable, for player and others. Install the beta and enjoy it with the new UI!

Oh that'd be dope, I'll keep an eye out. I've started dabbling with modding the game but I'm all thumbs when it comes to C#. I love this game, but I find the combat log is one of the weakest points, your mod has already improved combat readability quite a bit.

Understood. I like this, thanks for the suggestion! I'll dig into the code to see how I can find the info for successfull hits and pen fail rolls. The fact it's already displayed in the message log for misses will make things easier.

Will probably display the info next to pens on hit, replacing it on misses and failed pens, something like that: "x3 - [21 vs 8]"

No, what i meant is, on misses you get like "you missed X with Y [8 vs 20]", right? But on a hit, the game only shows the total roll at the end of the line [21], and if you fall to penetrate it won't even give out a roll, just "you failed to penetrate the armor".

What I'm asking is, if it's possible to show the [roll vs diff] regardless of whether you miss, hit or pen. Maybe the lowest roll if attacks are batched. Otherwise it's kind of frustrating to get "you failed to pen" and it's like "okay, but was it a fluke, or will I eventually get through if I keep at it?"

If I understood correctly, you want to show a tooltip for each penetrations? (so disabling combining attack damage)

I'm not sure what you mean by it "only shows the actual roll on misses" since misses don't display a tooltip

Would it be possible, aside from batching up attacks, to show a breakdown of the attack and penetration rolls for all attacks? Right now the tooltip only shows the actual roll on misses.

Nope don't worry, any information is already given by the base game in the message log. Feel free to create a character that attacks many times per turn, like a Multiple Arms Tinker that mods flaming on his swords and compare. It's safe to enable/disable mid-game.

Haha had the exact same reaction when the thought of doing this mod crossed my mind. Combat feels so much more exciting now! Hopefully will mesh very well with the new sounds and animations devs are adding for Qud 1.0
