We are giving this a try in a Zomboid roleplay server I help run. We're having some issues. For some players it simply doesn't work and gives an error no matter what we do, and for others it will dramatically level up people just hanging out near the player shooting the gun. Of note we are using Guns of 93 so maybe There's a conflict there? I also have a suspicion that it doesn't work with controllers/steam deck.

Maybe try opening your save with debug mode, press F11, type "Aim" in the input box on the right, find UVLearnToAim.lua or something similar, double click on it and then click reload file. I am not sure if this will fix it but maybe worth giving a try if nothing else helps.

It was working fine at first, but I disabled it to play another file. After enabling it again it didn't work. This is probably caused by the game itself not the mod, but does anyone know how to fix it? Thx!

WE FOUND OUT THE ISSUE


When one person shoots at a thing, and another does so, any shooting the first person does transfers to the partner.


I kinda like this! It's like you're learning, but I think it should be "If you have higher aiming, you cannot. If you have the higher aiming you give the other person a learning buff, like you're teaching them."

That makes a lot of sense but since I don't have a controller myself I sadly don't think I can do it. Though feel free to fix it if you can.

Is it possible to make this compatible with controllers? With a mouse you can just click the mannequin's tile and everything works, but with a controller joystick you can only aim in a direction and it never seems to register.

I don't think so, because the system only counts for the mannequins that are in the same floor as you.

Will do. We were at the museum mod location, shooting towards its lowet floor garage entrance. Perhaps there are mannequins in it?

Works with any firearm mod because this mod uses its own algorithm regardless of any mods, it works with any trajectory mod as well because of the same reason.

The idea being shooting this still object over and over again would provide experience. And it would give hope and accomplishmeng from the lodged bullets that has been shot to this mannequin. It is consistent, and it did not have any fragility. This has revolutionized the project zomboid experience providing services. I salute you UV. You gave us the liberty to shoot at mannequins instead of fragile zombies and humans. Glory.

This mod really innovates the idea of "shooting mannequins" Because of the thought process behind consistently shooting "shootable like human objects". It would require knowledge about consistency and fragility. Almost everyone would propose the idea being "just shoot the zombies" but, it would halt after some time. Why? Because it is not consistent. They do not think about the fragility of those beings, some even shoot their friends over and over again just to get the proper amount of experience, but still, it does not provide a consistent source of said experience, because of the fragility of the mentality. The founder of this addon who is labeled as Ultraviolet, gets the idea of "shooting mannequins" after these complications.

Hmm. I stole a random mannequin from a clothing store but nothing appears when I shoot at it. Do I just pickup and place? That's all I need to do?

Well it's been quite a long time since I've last checked the mannequins in the game. I think it should include every mannequin but don't take my word for it.

I think this mod is very unstable in MP.

-When there's no mannequin on sight your character will say miss randomly.
-My friend starts shooting nowhere but for whatever reason also hits the mannequin and (again) I also got the EXP.

Got a problem in multiplayer, when my friend starts shooting at the mannequin my shooting skill is also increased alongside with other players.

hey, trying this out with the bb gun from brita's weapon pack, and it doesnt seem to be working against the scarecrow mannequin, any help? it's not giving aim skill or making special effects / noises etc.
