I finished a game on hard difficulty with a Giant King ruler and no reclaimers trait. The binding fragments income amounts seemed fair considering you have to invest production for the buildings and the buildings are only available later in the game.

Updated for the new patch! Let me know how the balance feels as I haven't played a full game yet.

Version 5.0, Ogre Update
- Artifact Refinery II: Adept Crafters now grants +10 Binding Essence and +5 Binding Fragments income (from +10 Binding Essence Income).
- Artifact Refinery III: Master Artisans now grants +15 Binding Essence and +10 Binding Fragments income (from +15 Binding Essence Income).

Thank you so much for this man! The buy stuff from rulers -> dismantle -> make your own makes crafting your own stuff very intensive. Now that weapons are class-locked it becomes much more of a necessity. Appreciate you making this.

Thank you so much! I uninstalled and then went back and subscribe both of your Mods and it worked. The files must've corrupted when I was installing. They work great now!

@Infinite Realm, I disabled my other DLCs and the mod still worked fine for me, as suspected. Might be something with your local installation or another mod is causing the crash. Try verifying the integrity of your files through Steam properties for the game > Installed Files. Try unsubbing and resubbing to this mod as well, and make sure the mod is enabled in your playset.

So I was testing it. It didnt crash this time which is good but
this mod is not showing up in my structure. Also Merchant shop and Artifact Refinery. In age of wonders install mods.
There is a red exclamation mark next to your mods and it says ''installation interrupted. Log in to continue. I went in to play and yeah can't see the structure. I'm gonna test another Ruler see if it works there.

I have photos can share but no image link option here :(

I only have Primal Fury and eldritch Realm.

I'm testing all the mods that I have one by one. This one crashed for some reason on 20th November or am I do it wrong?

Would appreciate it. I think this building is a must have in the original game. Definitely need and want this :)

I was just thinking last night how annoying I have to keep fighting infestations every single turn just to get more items to trade for binding essence. You finally made a structure which knida works like the imperium wizard tower which increases overtime. This is quite nice. Thank you

Tiger Update
Changed it so that the AI should never build the Artifact Refinery buildings. This should hopefully stop the case where the AI was somehow building the Artifact Refinery as a special province improvement. Thanks @JerreyRough for the report.

@JerreyRough, thanks for the report! Yes I've noticed that too, very weird. I think it's a bug with the game code since the mod files are setup specifically for a city structure and not a province improvement.

I can try a fix where I prevent the AI from building the Artifact Refinery entirely. I don't think the AI uses the item forge anyways and if they did, the impact would be minimal since the AI gets bonus resources.

I noticed something really funky and weird: An AI was upgrading their farm province imrpovement to the Artifact Refinery I: Novice Crafters! Here's a screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/TMALdIX

I'm not sure if it's worth trying to fix, being a very rare and odd bug with minimal impact. But still, just wanted to let you know of this funky thing haha.

@Everbane, thanks for the report! Artifact Refinery does not affect the item forge button. I presume the issue is coming from another mod.

having an issue with this mod installed. the item forge button is available before the actual forge building is built. whenever i open the forge before the building is constructed i get a crash to desktop.

Artifact Refinery works fine with the Eldritch Realms DLC. Note that the devs removed the binding essence income from the strategic map UI. You'll still be able to see your binding essence and income from within the disenchant UI.

There's an odd thing. I copied this over to the mods folder for editing. Do all my edits. It shows up in my mod list in the game. But the artifact refinery is not an option to build once in the game. Thought it was my edit, but if I do it with just your folder it's the same thing.

Is there something else I need to do once I copied it from the Steam mod folder? I changed the folder name from the long string of numbers to match the name of your .acp file.

Is this something I can easily edit from your rpk file?

@jpinard, yes the AI does build the Artifact Refinery structures. Even though the AI builds them, I don't think the AI uses the binding essence at all. I don't think the AI uses the Item Forge.

@CenturionsofRome, at this time I'm not inclined to add more variants of the mod as it's more mods to maintain. It should be easy to modify so I'm fine if you want to make the changes and reupload my mod.

Another alternative is to use the old version of the mod which has a building which grants 10 binding essence income, but you can build it in every city rather than just your throne city so you can scale quickly. @SDgamer thank you! I was fortunate to receive early access from the devs so I was able to get my mods ready for patch day. No update is needed for Artifact Refinery, I tested it and it worked fine. I may review it again to be sure.

I have found 27 different mods add to the save file with the current golem update. I did not test for this prior to golem update but it was not necessary since save file sizes were much smaller

prior to golem update save file size only grew out of control if the save file itself was corrupted

@joel.west, perhaps you can file a bug report on the official forums. Sounds like you have data to suggest that the save file size increased after the Golem patch. Might be a wider scale issue and not limited to just the mods you identified.

@joel.west thanks for the report. I have no idea why my mod would be causing the save file to be bigger. It's a lightweight mod. I don't think there's much I can do as the mod only contains the minimum of what is needed. I double checked the mod dependencies and I only pull in 1 required dependency for city buildings.

I noticed today that after the golem game update my game save file is 4x bigger than it should be with 76 added mods compared to the 24 basic mods I 'must have' to play the game

your mod did not add all of that but to a two player small map save file it adds 240 kb. that may not sound like much but prior to the golem update this is bigger than the 220 kb size of the entire save file for a two player small map game

please post if you can figure out how to fix this. until then I am forced to turn off this mod (along with other save file space hogs)

@Big's thanks for the feedback! At this time I don't have any plans to upload a lite version of the mod.

I've heard feedback from other players mentioning that it feels fine with +30. I can see +30 being too much in some cases though. I'm fine if someone wants to re-upload a lite version of my mod, it should be pretty simple to adjust. Another option is to artificially cap ourselves and just not build the 3rd building, though I agree it won't be quite the same.

Hey man, liked the idea of the mod, but a think that +30 its too much. Can you create a "Lite" version, or is there a way o decreasing it to +15 (+5 +5 +5) instead of the +30 (+5 +10 +15 ), manually ? Thanks in advance.

I have not yet built the refineries but I can verify that the item forge (from golem game update) allows items to be built (crafted) with this mod 'Artifact Refinery' enabled

@Azure I don't have a strong inclination to upload the old mod behavior at this time. However, if you have an in-progress save with the Artifact Refinery already built in non-throne cities then those buildings will stay built. And of course, you can still build the next level Artifact Refineries in your throne city too. I've tested it myself so it should be ok. Sorry for any inconvenience!

ok so after EXTENDED HEAVY testing i can confirm that this mod is working perfectly fine and including all other mods
also quick heads up for everyone here: the game has currentl a bug where when you use "reanimate city ruins" with the soul currency it crashes upon completion

@DotuLord that must be frustrating. I don't believe my mod is causing the crashes. You can verify by disabling my mod. My mod changes are pretty safe and the recent updates shouldn't break old versions of this mod.

I know there have been issues with movement speed, tome, and level cap mods. Those mods could be worth investigating.

Fixed a bug where you couldn't see or queue Artifact Refinery buildings when you have a town hall upgrade in progress.
