There is a version without a good thumbnail under the same name I believe
Potatogoat  [author] 25 Jan @ 10:31am

Doesn't seem to pop up for some reason.

Ok
Metalburger 14 Aug, 2023 @ 4:58am
Oh, no, I don't make videos at all. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Also, MetalBurger, I noticed that your YouTube channel has quite a few subscribers yet no content, given there is almost no info online about posting thumbnails, I think a lot of people would appreciate it if you posted a tutorial vid on that.

Thanks for the info, I will attempt the thumbnail again shortly, yesterday I re-uploaded the Corsair under the same name if you want to try it out. I also have used the incorrect method for many of my builds so I will need to re-upload those too.

Here, check out this discussion, there's a neat tutorial by ALVAROPING1 (TM Discord's most active mod):

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/585420/discussions/0/3552805589770968599/

Basically, you don't edit the .png, you just trick Steam to accept a separate file as the thumbnail. At first it's gonna seem very complicated, and many builders give up after the first try, but it becomes pretty easy once you get the hang of it. And if you have Discord, you can ask for help there, people will gladly lend you a hand. As of right now we don't have a simpler way to do it, unfortunately.

About your builds, I'm afraid they're gone... Their .png files is what the game reads as blueprints, and when you edit them, they become corrupted and are beyond saving. Do you have previous backup versions of them? It's a shame if they're lost forever

2.:Then download steamcmd which is a command line version of the steam client made by valve from here: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD#Downloading_SteamCMD and extract it into a folder. Go to that folder with cmd and run it (just type steamcmd while on the same folder), this will update it and start it. After that type login username password steamGuardCode (if you don't use steam guard 2FA you can skip that), this might log you out of the normal steam client. After that just type workshop_build_item "C:\\path\\to\\file.vdf" which will update the workshop item according to the .vdf file. Finally you can quit the program by typing quit

Create the thumbnail you want and a txt file, then rename that txt file to have a .vdf extension and open it with notepad. On that file write this (workshop id is the id of the blueprint you want to update, it's the number at the end of the workshop link after "?id="):
{
"workshopitem"
"appid" "585420"
"publishedfileid" "workshopid"
"previewfile" "C:\\path\\to\\thumbnail.png"
}

Hi, i can send you a description how you should do this. Metalburger has uloaded his thumbnails the same way. After that you only can see this thumbnail on steam but your blueprint always should be untouched or it will be corrupted. You also can find this description on Discord from Alvaroping1.

Metal-burger, I know you make pretty good thumbnails, could you post a guide on uploading thumbnails?
Potatogoat  [author] 11 Aug, 2023 @ 5:40pm
Im probably editing the thumbnail wrong, as there is nothing online that shows me how to edit it in trailmakers.
Potatogoat  [author] 11 Aug, 2023 @ 5:36pm
How would i fix it?
Potatogoat  [author] 11 Aug, 2023 @ 5:36pm
Oh, I edited the .png in Gimp, thx for the heads up.
Metalburger 11 Aug, 2023 @ 3:12pm
Hey, your build isn't showing ingame. May I ask how you made the custom thumbnail? Because if you just edited the .png file, the blueprint got corrupted
Gabriel, Judge of Hell 11 Aug, 2023 @ 11:43am
For any weird reason i cant build or even see it in the workshop tab in the the game. is any thing i might be able to do to fix it?
