Thanks for your feedback
So yeah there is a chance in the near futur that I look at it to update it
No promise for a precise date however
I'm using the same performance as you and I don't have thoses messages
Do you have the mood buff when you mapped the genes ?
Can you try with a minimal modlist ?

I'm moving to a new home right now
I did see your message but I will not have time to look into it in the near future
Have a good day

I didn't know that you cannot extract skin and haircolor though vanilla gene extractor
I might add an option to ignore skin and hair color for gene mapping but not before this weekend
<canGenerateInGeneSet>false</canGenerateInGeneSet>
tag and so will not spawn unless set to true, afaik
"Don't allow pawns in the gene extractor if they only have a melanin gene."
so baseliner will never get the "my gens are mapped" mood buff.
As you might have guest English is not my native language
I will change that this evening !
I uhhh just found out that genomist isn't a commonly accepted word. The correct word is actually genomicist or geneticist. But I'll lave that for you to decide.
For example if you mapped and inject a gene that increase regeneration rate, or prevent diseases I would argue that you have improved the health of your colonist
You would think that mapping the genome would improve the 'Health' of your pawns. This idea isn't completely out of the blue when you consider that modern geneticists want to use the genetic maps of people to prevent and treat (genetic) diseases / conditions and improve the health of human individuals by understanding the exact requirements and circumstances of each individual.
In that sense, if you have their entire genome mapped out, a tending and immunity bonus increase actually makes sense as you'd know 'exactly' what their genes would favorably respond too for an optimal result.
I do not plan to had more content for this mod in the near future
I see it more as a very late game thing you do that is essentially a time sink for your researchers when the tech tree is basically finished and they have nothing to do anymore. At some point you have all the deep resources you need from the ground penetrating scanner and all research is done, your poor researchers don't really have anything to do anymore. Some gene tailoring or gene researching would be perfect, there's hundreds of genes and being able to target a few specific ones would be great even if it costs a shit tonne of pawn labor time. You have the spare researchers at that point.
My point is that if you have a good idea that make genes obtention easier I might implement it at the best of my ability even if this is in a separate mod but this has to be more engaging that just research
I initially thought the meme concept of 'Genomist' would fall under transhumanist but now that I think about it; Transhumanism is all about transcending into a machine. In contrast maybe a meme around genetic superiority would be cool. Creating the ultimate biological ubermensch seems like a pretty legit rimworld meme lol. So rather than 'From the Moment I Understood the Weakness of My Genetics, I set out to perfect my code' or something lol
This mod do not plan to do that
But some other mods allow you to create random genepacks like this one :

One thing I'd still like to see in biotech is the ability to 'research' genes. Rather than being forced to extract them from pawns or buy them from traders, it'd be nice if you could have your pawn genetically engineer the genes themselves that are available in the game sort of like research projects. This way you could target the specific genes you'd want. Of course these would be very long-term research projects and require a tonne of pawn labor but it would be a cool idea I think.
