"Could not resolve cross-reference: No RimWorld.SkillDef named Growing found to give to Verse.RecipeDef ReadBookRecipe_Growing"
You could reproduce it by creating a bill to read a shooting book with a pawn with some skill in that. Then create an awful shooting book close to the reading spot, and a legendary one further away.
Right clicking on the reading spot with the pawn gives "Cannot read Reading spot: Can't read: This skillbook is not sufficient."
See example https://imgur.com/a/0NpLZIh
Destroying the awful book makes it possible to prioritize reading.

If Read was not bunched in basic but an independant work type we could set a priority super low so the pawn just read when there is nothing else to do (much like what i do for my fishermen).
I will try to ask to the author of many jobs to add compatibility to separate read from basic but if you could do it right from your mod it'd be great ;)
-X times a day (for X colonist)
and/or
-adding a max level for the skill of the book (e.g. have the reading shooting book only apply to pawns that have 0-12 shooting) the same way crafting bills you can make it so only a specific skill bracket is allowed to do the bill.

I experienced a similar issue when it updated to allow selecting the work type.
Log file: relevant spam is more than halfway trough.

I was using the mod before the update and assigned the read book work to my colonists (with work tab)
After removing it, loading the save once, and readding it, it works, although the work type only showed up after i moved work tab below this mod.
Log or modlist? Or I cannot help you whatever.
I've added a right-click prompt on reading spot so you can check if it's working properly, hope it can help.
The issue with positioning the spot was caused by the chair/stool problem pointed out by Kaissar. It hadn't occured to me to try a different kind of seat. I'm glad to say, it works with chairs.
Again, thank you for this mod! It's great to be able to get something more out of books.
Also: Could you set a default for the XML settings, so that the task shows up somewhere when the mod is first used? At the moment one is forced into an immediate restart just to add the task to the work tab. And: The reading spot only recognizes seats south of a table for me. I can't place it in any other direction even though a seat is present. Any idea what could cause this?
