I reduced the flare for DX12... I'll take a look at tweaking it some more. Unfortunately the game doesn't suppress flares that pass through solid walls... and the more you tweak down the flare effect the less bright it also appears for the main exhaust thruster.

Anyway, I'll take a look again.

Is it possible that you create a 2nd version with extremy reduced flare or give me a permission to maybe change that myself?

are these mods to the existing thrusters (and perhaps modded thrusters like sages industrial thruster)? or is it a separate set of blocks?

I logged in and took a look. The thruster flare still looks great even with the reduced flare size. It doesn't bleed nearly as much anymore, only sticks through slightly but not enough to be distracting from the interior. Hopefully at somepoint they figure out an optimized method for blocking the emitter from behind objects but the changes help a lot in the meantime.

I've updated the mod to significantly reduce the flare sizes. It looks pretty good still and shouldnt bleed into surrounding areas as much

I did some more testing.. it seems the currently implementation of DX12 causes surrounding voxels to not block the emitter light... probably to improve performance since calculating emitter spread would be intensive.

You can see from the screenshot I've given that interior green light bleeds through surrounding voxel to paint my space engineer.. even though technically it should have no green glow.

Anyway, does it looks acceptable now with the toned down flares??

Wow your screenshot bleeds a lot more than me... can you take a bigger picture showing the actual thruster and the flame emitter itself? What happens when you zoom out.. or change the camera angle? Does it stop happening.

I'll post some pictures of how it looks for me when i get home.

Thanks again for looking into this. Unfortuantely for me I still see the bleed effect happening. I am also running a GTX780 but on windows 7.

I don't know exactly what might cause this within the code as I haven't messed with any SE modding but I'm almost convinced it could be something on my end. I'll keep thinking on it.

I had a look at the thruster in DX11... oddly enough for me.. there is no light bleed through surrounding walls. I'm running a Nvidia GTX780 on Windows 10.

When I spin the camera around the thruster, I also see the thruster effects turn off and on depending on the angle and distance.

All this makes me pretty convinced it's a sub-optimal implementation of the emitter in a voxel construct. a.k.a. a limitation of the coding.

I'll tone down the flare by 33% and see how that goes.

@Storm, Thanks a lot, I appreciate the help. I can understand loosing steam for the current space engineers. Without proper AI space seems pretty desolate and boring but I'm hoping that's all still to come in the future. In regards to the glow issue I hope you don't have to spend a horrendous amount of time to fix it =/

To be honest I haven't been playing SE for a while... been waiting for the devs to fix the netcode and lack of AI enemy issues.

it's a long weekend here... I'll pop in and tweak down the glow setting... my GPU is DX11 enabled so I imagine I'll see it.

Anyone using Dx11 see the glow of the thrusters from the inside of their ship?

I've tried reinstalling and changing all of my graphics settings but dx9 seems the be the only one that will stop the over glowing. Any ideas?

Staring into high intensity thruster light for too long will damage your eyes! Best to avoid it.

Love your mod, but the lens flares are a little much. They look sweet but after a couple hours they give me a headache. Good work though!

oui des propulserus c'est ce que je voulais dire ( ces mots me gavent, pourquoi ne pas appeler des reacteurs des moteurs tout simplement...). Il n'y a qu'un seul type de propulseur dans le mod, l'image de droite ne correspond pas.

I don't think anyone can figure out how to do the sound modding right now... Keen haven't provided any guides and there seems to be no logical way to configure it.

As for the small hyper thruster, once I get back from my trip I will be uploading that as a mod update.

You should definitely do a small ship version! I'd love to see one. Definitely 5x power of small ship large thruster and 5x times components makes sense. Would love to see this
