It would be pretty sweet if you could possibly update it in the future like you're doing with the Krait and Neva
Just kidding. Nice tight subcompact design. I like it.
Maybe for a tier 1 sub it's a bit loaded, but you can always increase the price, making it one option when players save money but they haven't reached tier 2 settlements (dynamic europa pain)
If you just want to start with it increase the starting salary on the server options or leave the price be for singleplayer.
400 HP is too much when upgrades give out +120% in some cases (tier I has less but still). Some creatures can't manage to damage it at all, or even enter the submarine in the entire campaign if you have gun placement as good as this. Even with harder mods since you can repair faster than they damage the hull.
You want to give it more HP? to feel a tanky submarine? the only right way to do this is make it look more rough, military, armored, bulky, make it different than the others and give it drawbacks for it. It's funny looking a piece glass being as strong as a metal hull. And doing it because "it's an attack sub" it's not it, you place the double hull even on scout subs.
Still, everyone can edit the submarine however they want, that's the benefit of this game's workshop so the author can do whatever they want with 'em.
Some play to simply relax, there is no shame in simply playing the game on whatever to "just have fun", whatever a person enjoys.
But making something unbalanced and then saying that "it's more realistic", then I just question your approach, since if want one thing to be "easier because it's more realistic", then you should look at other aspects as well, from both sides. If one thing is "unrealistic and harder" then what about aspects of the game that are "unrealistic but easier".
Play however you want, seriously, as long as you're not harming anyone - do whatever you like. But it's little silly to say X is "hard and unrealistic and so it should be changed", while many other things are also unrealistic but make it way easier, it's a little bit unfair, don't you think?
You mentioned "realism", while it's possible to fully repair a completely and utterly destroyed submarine with just a few seconds of pointing weld-tool at it. A giant sea monstrosities can ram against it, soak it up in acid. A nuclear explosion can occur and blow up every wall, but you can survive it just fine, and not only that, and you can repair it all right up, on the spot, under 6000 meters underwater.
Not every video game can or should have "realism" in it, especially since then many, many things would be simply impossible. And if toss out the window "possible and not possible" all together, then shouldn't argue over one thing or another being unrealistic.
Of course in the end, you'll do what you decide on and I can't stop you. Freankly, if it is what makes you happy, hey do what makes you happy, it's not like you're harming anyone here. Make the most OP sub there is if it's what you want - go for it. I'm simply pointing out a bit illogical approach to the matter.
Double-strength walls honestly should be on EVERY submarine. I understand that this is a game, thus there should be some differences between what is "realistic" and what isn't, but in real life most large submarines have hulls with multiple layers. I always thought it was silly that in the future, humanity knew how to colonize Europa, but somehow forgot how to make well-designed submarines. I understand your point about game balance though.
As for the firepower, I agree with Monolith. It does have lots of firepower, but the major guns (the flak cannons) are only for the captain to use. Plus, chaingun and flak cannons aren't all that strong compared to other weapons.
I do think Sarril's suggestion of removing a feature could help...maybe removing the stealth mode would be a good step toward being more balanced.
as it does have a good sub design but....
i do have to point out for a Tier 1 sub it has nearly the same firepower as the typhon 2 with 2 heavy hardpoints and 2 regular hardpoints and double walls, either way nice job but i'd consider making it a tier 3 or adding a specific disadvantage / removing some features
Also don't understand making them more lit than Eiffel Tower, but guess you like it that way.
PS: Thanks @BRSaura for your comment here, since I seemed to have had the same problem (with the water not fully draining in a room or two) and I didn't knew what was causing it.
Also didn't knew it was necessary to manually adjust neutral ballast. Now I can do some improvements that I didn't knew what or how to do.
For the rest, your ships in general are amazing, very light in perfomance, creative deco and one of the few that makes Tier-ll subs, specially small/compact ones. I rarely have to touch anything else from them.
