(currently being v0.39.723.54, in Big Mode; Actually, it *might* be because of Big Mode... possibly)
The curses are great, enjoying the fact that they have beneficial uses as well. Thanks for adding so much new and quality stuff in the last update.
as for jester hat, it's a duel purpose item to buff up cursed weapons (originally meant for 2e+ weapons but json limitations changed the direction a bit) and to negate haste decay. the main reason why it has 7 uses and uses it self each turn was originally just to balance out haste stacking. for some reason, i found it was usable directly, so i recently added a gold cost if someone used it directly, allowing a player to bank 7 haste at the start of combat, if they are willing to sink a lot of gold
i'll be honest a lot of forge slots were kinda here and there since i rarely even bother with forges myself, at least in their current state. i'll tweak them some more over time
in any case, glad you like the mod, if you can, i hope you can show it off to anyone else that enjoys bph, along with mods in general
Jester Hat (might have gotten the name wrong here) -- not sure how to use it or what is meant from the description. Might be me. Haven't found one recently so might already have been fixed.
Finally, the curses: well played! You're one of the first to really delve into new and interesting curses and their interactions. Definitely appreciate this part of the item set a lot. I had some trouble understanding Piranha, as its description was glitched out a bit. Maybe it's been fixed by now.
TL;DR keep it up, this is some real consistent, quality, fleshed-out, fully-functional and bug-tested stuff. I'm stoked for any future updates and would love to hear from you about what's coming up next. The balance between the base game experience and the expansion of (and variations upon) base game mechanics just hits that sweet spot for me.
If you need me to post my findings / comments anywhere else instead, let me know!
Skateboard: genius. Love everything about it.
Sharp Icicle: really cool item concept (sorry hehe), thought it was a 2-slot item at first and thought "must-have", then found out it's 3-slot and that means that balance-wise it occupies the same place in effectiveness as the old +1 energy Windmill Relic. Too good at 2x1, not quite strong enough at 3x1.
This brings me to an idea I had. Why not a "melting icicle" where every combat, it becomes smaller and less powerful, but also takes up less space.
Mana Coat (or whatever it's called): 3 forge slots is a lot, compare it to the old Knight Armor which got nerfed quite a bit and is still super good. Potentially you're looking at +3 energy AND bonus armor from manastones.
Bulwark also seems a bit powerful considering it can take multiple forge types *AND* has multiple slots. Not complaining though... but it would be more appropriately a Legendary item.
So after some more time with this mod I can definitely say: very polished, great "vanilla+" look and feel.
Specific notes on items:
Coat of Arms: genius concept; same with Idols. I like this multi-directional approach to items buffing other items.
Torch: an item already exists in Farlands Dwelling with the same name predating this one. Functionality of this and other similar wand style items in this pack is verrry interesting. Hallowed Wand sticks out positively since it's fantastic for "double-tapping" enemies that have active Dodge status stacks and also because damage boosts apply twice.
Bandage Wrapped Mace: perfectly balanced IMO. I compare it to the vanilla Heavy Mace and Vampiric Axe and it definitely has its own niche. You nailed the balance by limiting it to 0 forge slots. Makes it worth bringing along for situational use.
Dark Lady Body Pillow: just... 10/10 for idea and execution. Things get pretty crazy pretty fast with this one though.
