@r47926
You can point people there
Can anybody point to a mod doing something similar?
It causes the stack on a quick slot item to show an absurdly large number (like 9999999999999), or an item that would be scrapped into a large number of matts.
In light of the recent occurrences, there's a real need to discuss the Workshop Subscription mechanics as well as Steam's related TOS in a central thread devoted to the topic. This thread is much too limited in its reach for that purpose.
I'm sure JA3 isn't the only frequently patched game where players experienced mods being pulled out from under their feet. It's likely they're equally eager to voice their opinion on the subject.
I've read reports regarding mods that add/change items/inventory slots and those were gone after disabling the mod (also vanilla items that were stacked higher or in incombatible slots). But the savegame could still be continued normally.
In this case, I don't expect any problems after disabling the mod in a savegame, because AFAIK all this mod does is display things in the UI that are already calculated in the game (but not visible). Also, Audaki stated in her description "Everything is safe to add and remove at any time.", which she didn't state in every mod she made.
However, keep in mind that I'm not the creator of the mod and the mod is not maintained, so there's neither a guarantee it won't break anything nor is there support if it does.
I might delete off-topic comments on this page in the future.
Just a heads up to players running modded playthroughs that Haemimont has announced their plans [community.jaggedalliance.com]to release four new patches in the coming weeks, one per month (JA3 v1.2 - 1.5).
I predict we’re going to see a lot of fluctuations in the JA3 Workshop soon, so it’s probably a good idea to back up your mod collection while there’s still time.
Steam really needs to review their uploads policy to prevent modders from suddenly deleting their mods w/o any explanation or prior notice.
I’m thinking something along the lines of either mandating a cooldown period before final deletion, or simply delegating all rights of the mod to Steam once they’re uploaded to the workshop.
Heck, if the policy works for other sites, why not here on Steam?
Otherwise, I would of course try to notify people ahead of time that they're supposed to switch to the new version.
But thank you for posting this version.
@elderiii There's no difference in format for Steam/Nexus, but I'm not sure you're looking at the correct files. It's easiest to just download the files from Nexus if you want a local backup. I've collected the links to the Nexus mirrors of files I re-uploaded in my post in the thread about Audaki in the Steam forums.

I'm not sure about Nexus, because a backup is actually still available there and I don't plan to actively maintain the mod anyway.
Files are still available on Nexus even after being deleted, as long as you know mod id and file id.

I will post the corresponding Nexus URLs in the Steam discussion thread as well, to make them easier to find and being index by google.
Do you plan to upload it on the Nexus as well?
It would be nice to have a copy of this mod just in case it gets deleted again.
I haven't tested them yet, because I've only installed this mod so far, still have to finish my first playthrough (without mods).
If there are any other mods by Audaki you'd like me to re-upload, feel free to post and I'll see if I can add them.
TBH though, Audaki has done a terrific job with this mod and probably spent an insane amount of her free time to provide something, well, for free and she doesn't owe us anything. I'm sure quitting modding after spending so much time with it is not an easy decision, so deleting everything in order to burn your bridges is something I can totally relate to.
She did post her statement and permission only a few hours afterwards and the mods were easy enough to recover... Let's just hope someone will volunteer to put in the hours in the future and maintain this mod in case an update breaks anything.
@BaddAzzYellaBro, you're welcome. :)
I was in the middle of evaluating and reconfiguring my mods for a new playthrough when the UI Enhancements suddenly disappeared from my JA3 Mod Manager.
This isn’t a small, niche mod either. It combines seven previously separate mods, and is fairly popular with JA3 players. I’m really thankful it didn’t happen to me mid-game, as I imagine it did for many players.
It's OK to quit modding if, for whatever reason, you're no longer interested in providing and maintaining them. But to suddenly delete the mod w/o any explanation or prior warning is a bit of a dick move imo.
Lesson learned, though. To ensure this won’t happen to me again, I’m going to quit the Workshop subscription service and manually download, install and backup my JA3 mod collection from now on.
Finally, a big thanks goes out to r47926 for doing the subscribers a solid and putting the mod back online.
