Valve knows about put more unusual effects in weapons, its enough have like 3-4 of them in the game, PCs with low resources and gaming performance would appreciate it.

The flame sprites used are the exact same flames that are used in several existing unusual effects and are the same as the flamethrower's flames. I know there have been several complaints about how the flames look, but they already exist several times over in this game. I can see why people would prefer a different sprite, and I wouldn't have a problem updating this effect with a new, more fitting sprite, if this had any chance of being accepted.

I don't like the particles, its all too strong I thought promo look like the effect is just photoshopped in. With other weapon unusuals even with isotope or energy orb their is this atmospheric lighter effect surrounding the other stronger particles. I do not make particles but this looks not so great to me.

since valve actually put effort (of browsing workshop warpaints for like an hour) with the summer warpaints, who knows? maybe we have a chance with weapon unusuals?

I really don't mind making a V2 for this with a custom sprite, etc. I love the concept for this and really want people to be able to enjoy it more. I also really enjoy creating weapon effects, mostly to see the end result - the tedious bits aren't as exciting lol. If I get any sort of confirmation directly from Valve that they plan to include weapon effects at any point in the future, you can bet that I will be making many more of these, in addition to making this one better. If I get confirmation that they will not ever be adding these into the game, I will be making a public mod for all of my weapon effects thus far for everyone to enjoy. As of now, I don't have any plans to put more into these until I know for sure - as all of them have taken at least a month of full dedication every single day, which has been incredibly taxing. I'd love to focus on them exclusively if possible, I just want it to be a viable endeavor. Thanks for the feedback! :)

With how tiny the pool of weapon effects is currently, I *really* don't think color variants are a good idea. The pool size is exactly the reason why many of the weapon effects on the workshop you see are purple, yellow, etc. — they cover bases/colors that the current ones don't. The weapon effect pool is (ideally) a heavily curated one, and imo the other variants would bloat it.

Besides that though? Tis nice I guess, having a teamcolored weapon effect would be neat. It could really benefit from a custom flame sprite though. Imo the flamethrower fire sprite wasn't really meant to be scaled down so far, so it ends up looking pretty noisy on some weapons (most apparent on demo's melees).

ik making weapon effects is an absolute nightmare, so great work regardless. But if you're insane enough to do a v2, a custom flame sprite would def improve it a ton

I absolutely love this. The swords look really nice, though I feel the guns could be a little more polished so they're not just clipping and maybe add some kinda fade at the end?

It looks really nice but needs I think it needs more polishing around the top of the barrel, maybe a sort of wrap around for the flame to the top of the barrel.

I wanted to consider this effect as a sort of accent to the weapon, and not fully engulf it in flames for the sake of intensity. I know it doesn't really show in the gifs, but the alpha is low enough to see objects, etc. through it completely as to not be a total obstruction of view from first person. There have yet to be any community-made unusual weapon effects added into the game at this point, so it's difficult to know what is the best way to create these in order to satisfy everyone. Please know that I spend a ridiculous amount of time testing these in multiple settings, maps, etc. in order to make them as good as I can. Ultimately, I always aim to please as many people as possible with my effects, and I'm sorry if I've missed the mark for some of you with this one. Thank you for all the feedback and comments thus far! :)

As for the look of the flames, the flame texture is the same as any of the other existing flame textures in the game for effects and the flamethrower, with the animation slowed down a bit, as to not be too visually distracting. I know the clipping might seem strange, but after I experimented with multiple render distances, flame sizes, and placement for the flames, this was what ended up being the most balanced. I can either have the flames go over the weapon, which was way too intense, or have them hidden behind the weapon, which doesn't look good either - so having it be in the middle and clipping through the barrel was the obvious choice. The flame textures can be intense, which is why they are smaller and more form-fitted to the weapon itself, so the most intense/brightest part is minimal.

Just want to post my thoughts and intentions for this effect to respond to the comments about it:
I understand that not everyone likes to have multiple color variants for unusual effects - I am the same way with hat/taunt effects. I had comments on Bloodlust from people wanting team-colored weapon effects, and I thought flames would be a great way to include them. I figured since I was going that route, I might as well experiment with color variants that match killstreak sheens, which was the only reason I included this many color variants. I felt like this would also increase trading and customization potentials, and as I have mentioned previously, I don't mind if Valve wants to omit any of the color variants if they think there's too many. I'm thankful for the feedback y'all have given in regards to the colors - I will try to reduce the amount variants in the future if this is not a welcome addition.

Very great concept but really bad execution, the way it looks as if it is clipping from and the way it's very little doesn't look good. What i would suggest you do, is to curve the flames so the barrels actually look on fire and to also tone the fire down, as it is very bright.

Also you are correct that the Panic Attack does not have a hollowed-out barrel. It's just a flat texture.

Seeing new weapon unusual effects would be a great thing, but it's more likely to me, at least, that no new ones were accepted due to the ongoing bug with unusual weapon effects that got Energy Orb removed from the unusual effect pool. Look into this github link for the relevant issue at hand - https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/3926 . I think your effect looks neat but it would definitely blind some poor unfortunate player.

Eh. Too many color options. Should have a different effect theme so its more in-line with the toned down existing unusuals for weapons. Look at hot, it's effectively a toned down version of flames and this just gets rid of the subtlety

very cool concept, love seeing more unusual weapon effect ideas, I think they would be very beneficial to us war paint creators and effect creators alike. everyone who works on these, thank you and hopefully valve will go for it some day.

@zogster - I don't expect them to code these effects in to pair with killstreak sheens or effects, but I do anticipate that most people who unbox unusual war paints will apply killstreak sheens onto whatever weapon they redeemed, generally speaking. I figured that making an effect with flames would be a good opportunity to add these color variants so that people have the option to apply whatever sheen or killstreak effect that they want to it, which would compliment this effect and the killstreak effect/sheen. I did worry that this was overkill, but I also felt like all of the colors work with flames and would be a fun bonus that they also happen to work with the majority of killstreak kit colors, since it's a weapon effect. I'm curious to see how others feel about this though - I'm definitely not apposed to making less variants for weapon effects in the future. Thanks for the input!

its an okay effect but the problem is with its sheer abundance of variants since i'd doubt you can code in it to work with its complimentary killstreak sheen and eye-glows.
