The only problem is that this should be represented by the Ethics attraction from neighbours, probably... As Unity represents internal development.
But gameplay-wise, I think AI-player balance would benefit a lot from Unity spread.
I did not, regarding unity. I'm not sure to see how or why it should spread like technologies. Actually I'm not totally sure of what is unity in a role-play manner, isn't that an internal "meter" of your empire capacity to be... unite?
@Doviena Not sure what you mean! This mod doesn't change what is considered a neighbor. I'm just using the vanilla feature to know of which you are being neighbor or not.
Have you considered doing the same with Unity production?
Add description about it.
I think I'll also add an option in the menu to remove the spread altogether, in case of temporary issues like the one below.
From what I've seen the mod is still working with the current version yup, and the menu is still accessible ingame. Dynamic mod menu is still working indeed (it is required for this to work, and I think you must load it before Tech Diffusion, that was maybe your issue @2M4L?).
@Osium I'll take a closer look but I didn't see any issue so far, what you're describing is also weird. You can share a save if you want (well, if you are still playing with the mod 2 months later..)
@Melon_Sour That's a nice idea thanks, I'll work on it!
@Dr. Nolegs Hmm I see it makes sense indeed... Not sure what I can do there though, the mod ignores fallen and crisis empires but custom ones like this that starts with many techs...
This origin has always seemed OP to me already, maybe we can consider this behavior is okay.
The possibility to disable the spread for players may help here if it's not wanted.
However, there is an issue in the early game where players can neglect research and still become powerful due to the tech bonuses.
Is it possible to add a setting where players don't get the bonuses?
I'm currently the run away tech leader. Every other Empire on the map is inferior in tech to me, even pathetic, and I'm still getting close to 1k per field due to diffusion (year is like 2290). Seems like I shouldn't be getting tech diffusion back to me?
It just means in your case you are ahead of the empires from which you can gain bonuses.
You could be behind some other empires too, but you cannot gain something from those for now (non neighbor, no treaties with them or they have rivaled you etc).
Also, if you are not familiar with the console: always save before running a command!
I'll make sure this little issue through an update won't happen again.
Anyway it should not matter much. If someone want to change the settings on a game created before the update, you can through the console.
Open the console and enter "effect set_global_flag [flag]", replace [flag] with either "technology_diffusion_fast_spread" or "technology_diffusion_slow_spread". Be sure to remove all the quotes.
Just before that, remove the flag already set (if you had the menu at least once) with: effect remove_global_flag [name] (if there is no flag at all the default speed will be used).

What is your language? Maybe I can add it to the mod!
AND, it would ignore rivalries, meaning it would be the only way to gain a bit of diffusion from rivals (while in peace).
I will play for a while with the numbers for balance but I think this will be fun! And if someone has other ideas please do not hesitate to share them :)
@Samot I just released the fix it should work now. I am a bit late.. But I added another one with it!
Gestalts, especially exterminators or devouring swarms (those that have -1000 relations with everyone..) were indeed quite "nerfed" regarding tech diffusion with a last minute change I made before.
Now they'll too profit from their neighbors even with closed borders and -3000 relations. Rivaling them will still block any diffusion though.
You can't tell me what to do!
Maybe it was possible...
So from now on technology diffusion will no longer be present between vassals and overlords.
Indeed the vanilla treaty takes priority, so an overlord can choose to block the diffusion with its vassals or even reverse this natural process!
Nothing changes between vassals and other empires.
Could you give me your save so I can take a look?
Im produce 2k each (6 in total).
This mod doesn't impact fleet power and doesn't take into account FEs whatsoever!
As for your second message, does this vassal is "overwhelming" in technology to you? Do you have diplomatic treaties with them? And how many research point are you producing?
@-=EDF=- Kouta Seto
Wow chill man, this is just a game!
That's perfect.
