Could nickname it the Hurricane Torpedo Launcher. Fits with the storm naming convention. Tsunami might be a good name too.

@andersenman I hope it hasn't been too annoying :) I chose the name to match vanilla's naming convention, but I understand that not everyone will find that convenient!

The torpedo definitely needs a nickname. Having to keep calling it "the torpedo" got old really quickly writing the quick guide on adding V+ homing.

In general, the rockets in the game must be either guided or very cheap, otherwise there is no point in them in comparison with projectiles.

I too would like to ask about a potential vanilla+ version of these weapons. Homing capability would be perfect for these torpedoes, and I feel like converting the hailstorm rockets to flak detonation would fit with the theme of the weapon as an anti-small-ship weapon.

I've cracked open the vanilla+ files to try and understand how to make mods using it myself but couldn't figure out what was actually necessary to make mods with it.

I generally dont like to ask modders about adding anything as yall have lives outside this game too. I do however wonder if you would ever consider adding compatibility wit the Vanilla+ Framework?

I've yet to give these a try but look like they'd be perfect for what I plan on doing.
Basically trying to make space versions of some World War 2 ships, but with no official Torpedo Launchers being available in game I didn't wanna have to use the large rocket launchers due to their close range yet rapid firepower.

Even if these things are slower firing, just the idea of them having longer range and high damage potential feels very appropriate.

Несколько не правильный баланс, торпеды более тяжелые по сравнению с ракетами. но у вас скорость наоборот в пользу торпед, как то не логично.

@TrippyCactus That would certainly make the weapon stronger. As it is, the low fire rate is one of the weapon's weaknesses, and I don't think it would be balanced if I upped the fire rate by 44.9% while reducing the damage by only 16.7%. To achieve 12 RPM I would have to reduce the damage to 2070 per shot, which is too little to destroy a light armour block in a single shot. I don't think that would feel very good for a "torpedo".

Feel free to adjust the values for your own play using something like ModAdjusterV2, though.

I think the time in between individual torpedo shots should be shortened to 1 second, i think its 3.5 or 4 seconds between shots based on the video which seems like a little to long. If you were to lower the damage to 2500 and shorten the time in between shots and reload rate to 16 seconds you could get a fire rate close to 12 rounds per minute and it would give this system and the rocket launcher a closer dynamic to the one between the railgun and artillery. This is probably one of the best looking models I've seen for a weapon mod though keep up the good work

WeaponCore alredy does that, this just increases ranges (also it's for vanilla weapons, not modded ones)

I've never used Weaponcore in a survival game, but I've heard a lot about it. I'm glad to be able to provide weapons which work well with vanilla and with modular encounters.

Good job, not supporting Weaponcore...

I'm not going to lie, i'm sick of Weaponcore, they don't support vanilla modifications to the guns/additions to the modlist... they only support Weaponcore Mods.

And if vanilla turrets are used, their automatically disabled now, due to weaponcore doesn't care.
Which breaks certain npc ships spawning in

I will always support guns that don't support weaponcore or don't use it... and custom 3D Model designs for new weapons.

I believe you can adjust things like that with ModAdjuster. As-is, this turret has been balanced to fit into vanilla combat.

1400m range for a torpedo is imho too low, when you want such turrets for your space-base defense and ships usually fly around at 5-8 km away..

I think Consty has a Homeworld Pack, which might include some torpedoes for you to use. However, I would love to release a torpedo launcher in my own style at some point.

I love the design and thought that went into balancing this for vanilla combat.

A thought that's crossed my mind: Is there potential for a non-turreted block version of something like these? Such a thing would help fulfill a longtime dream of recreating Homeworld-esque missile cruisers/torpedo frigates.

@Elindis, it seems that the Vanilla+ framework ups the vanilla rocket turret to 5.000 meters, so it significantly outclasses your torpedo and rocket launchers =(

Gatling IMHO should have a very high DPS, but have a harsh penalty against heavy armor and large grid in general. Then rockets should get a price reduction, damage increase or velocity increase.

Yeah, if it were up to me, I'd rebalance all the vanilla weapons. Longer range and faster bullets should come with less DPS, not more. Artillery turrets are so much better than rockets or gatling turrets, outside of niche scenarios.

Frankly, this would be great in vanilla. The missile turret as it stands is a bit poorly balanced. This sort of extreme variant would be fantastic.

@Jivall From what I understand, Vanilla+ doesn't change the vanilla turret behaviours in any way, so it should work. I haven't tested it, though.
