@Illu its an old script from almost 10 years ago that I just fixed some errors and put into a mod version with CBA setting. If recoil is less than vanilla, I am guessing its because certain weapons didnt exist when the script was written. I also noticed some surfaces (like a fence etc) it will not deploy on, I think same thing, these objects didnt exist when it was written. When I have time I will see if I can upgrade it.....but for now, I have other things to do

Could you give us the option to turn off the BIG symbol on the lower left corner when we use the weapon resting stance?

it is client side since it only doesn't something on your end and there is no seperate animation for it

Yes my friend, I know how to change keybinds, but as I said...

– I run a public server and most people don't know how to do it (main reason for ME reaching out);
– By default, having a bind that completly "breaks" normal functions of the game is not ideal... As a mod, yours is the one which should't be conflicting at first...

My considerations, only. Do as you please, of course

@RicGonzalez well the default is only default. You can change the keybinding yourself.
its under the usual spot for CBA keybinds.
1. in game, hit 'escape' key
2. choose "configure" from menu
3. choose "controls"
4. choose "configure addons" (at bottom)
5. choose a dropdown menu with "VST Weapon Resting"

My friend, your default keybind for the mod is conflicting with vanilla "Toggle Walk", making it unable to work (the walk)...

If it could be changed in the base file, I'd be much appreciated, as your mod is being used in my public server, and some players don't know how to customize their keybinds....

@bendy, sorry, there seems to be no keys folder? I tried to repair the mod already but when I go to look for the keys folder, there is none. :steamsad: can you confirm that the keys folder is there please? cheers! :)

I have uploaded the Key to the server and loaded it as a client side mod, however, can't join server because it is saying that the key doesn't match. Im sure that the bikey is the same so Im not sure what is wrong? please help

@0nc0l maybe you should check the graphic I have in the pics. Did testing to see that this stabilizes it more than vanilla resting, and slightly less than vanilla deploy

But I'd completely forgotten about it, and seeing it in the workshop reminded me of it.

Reminds me of this tweak/mod in Arma 2 that allowed you to stabilize your weapon almost everywhere; small trees, branches, poles, etc. Like in reality.
Good work to bring something similar back! I'll try it out today.

@Kiwik I actually had to use a workaround with CBA settings because it seems like some weird bug with vanilla deploy's keybind. If the vanilla keybind is 'x' then for some reason it also works for 'control+x'. This doesnt seem to be the case for other Arma keybinds, just deploy. So if you wanted VTS Weapon Resting to be 'control+x' and vanilla deploy to be 'x', it would always just go to vanilla deploy and override VTS Weapon Resting. So I found a workaround passing CBA settings to a variable that over-rides the vanilla bug. Drawback is once you change the keybind, you have to press the new keybind once to set the new variables, and then once again to start working. You shouldnt need to restart mission

@Kiwik [GR} just so you know, I didnt write the mod from the ground up, I found it in a Bohemia forum from 10 years ago (see link in decription), so I just cleaned the code and added CBA settings for keybind (10 years ago steam workshop didnt exist and this mod required modifying a text file for keybind and putting it in your Arma root installation folder)

Well "animated recoil coefficient changer" makes recoil less expectable and sligthly stronger/realistic, feels very good to play with but it not being affected by resting enough unfortunately is its main downside. Our mods dont effect it. I asked him if he could include a slider but got no response. :/

With a bit more testing, here's some feedback:

- I still had the issue where rebinding the keybind only works after restarting the mission (with the latest version - the new keybind works, but the old one isn't unbound until you restart the mission);

- when using advanced stances (like shoulder swaps or leaning right), exiting the weapon rest brings you back to the default stance, making it a bit hard to negotiate rests around corners if you use those (ex: you shoulder swap, rest on the corner, then move a bit and exit the rest, all of a sudden you're facing the wall because it resets the stance too).

This isn't criitcism, just trying to help out with identifying potential points that could be tweaked if you have time :D

This mod will definitely ecome a staple for our shooters, snipers and assauters alike :D
Being able to stabilize around a corner is awesome, the only thing missing is the animations for it (but yeah, that would require an insane amount of work).

If I may push another suggestion, maybe it could be interesting to have a smaller version of the icon, or have it fade away after a few seconds?

@Ascent, well this mod aims to stabilize recoil, not make it worse. Doesn't the "animated recoil coefficient changer" make it worse? I don't use it so don't know. Will have to test it yourself

This is amazing, our Sniper team will definitely be using it. Bipods are a precision shooter's worst enemy in this game.

Is there any option to toggle the wind text, though?
It can be a bit redundant when using the ACE wind arrow

I once made a similar mod, but it wasnt compatible with recoil mods my unit plays with, is yours compatible for example with "animated recoil coefficient changer"?

@VBKO - I think I found the issue. You need to restart the mission after setting your keybind to re-initialize it. Now it will work.
