for me
It could LOOK like the default arms, but it would always look like them, even if you wanted to play with Hatsune Miku hands. This used to cause more complaints, so I just go with invisible hands.
To continue the analogy, if you want to make an omelette, you have to break a few eggs. making it so it only worked for single player wouldn't work, as it has nothing to do with the server.
The limitations lie with Source Engine's particle systems. Specifically the inability to spawn particles with reliable indices, which restricts the deletion, and recreation, of ropes which have been spawned in a ring.
If you want fog without issues, try the fog mutation. As to pinpointing, you could always extract the vpk and install it manually so it overwrites anything that could conflict.
what you could do is make a version where the fog only works in singleplayer (local games) using scripts, which will hopefully remove any counteractions since its not client-sided, i dont code or make workshop mods, but if you wish, hopefully you could figure it out, (if no one already made the idea lol).
also, i love eggs in any form, very full of protein, weird addition to your argument but ill fry a sunnyside up egg in your honor, because i want to, not because you wanted me to.
in conclusion, i like this mod, you did good despite the limitations, but its just really annoying how i have to pinpoint and disable several mods for it to somewhat work properly.
This isn't some official valve patch, this is an exploitation of graphical effects(rope particles, lol) that were never meant to do this sort of thing. I'm surprised it works as well as it does, and I had the good grace to list the known issues, go eat an egg
ok understand thanks
These are all standard maps, but I'm subscribed to everything in their collection.
If you install this, and THEN install a character skin, you can see the character skin in third person and cutscenes, and keep the fog in first person, because the fog will overwrite the hands of the character.
The lack of hands is a compromise. If you're playing as an anime girl, do you want to see coach's hands? I assume most would rather have no hands at all, so that's what I make.
It doesn't conflict with weapon reskins.
It conflicts with survivor reskins because particle effects like this require a unique set of first person hands which reference the particle in their qc file.
That's why @OnlyPVPCaterina - 666's "Just delete the hand models" advice breaks the effect entirely, and only serves to remove the nasty red text telling you the mod conflicts.
These limitations also apply to falling sakura and snow, nothing new.
