- Soldier TF2
But those laws have been hella lightened since then and really do not apply anymore, especially to how content's depicted in this game.
And if you're still unconvinced that this would still be too gory to add as a taunt, then you don't remember when they added the Headcase taunt for Pyro where he's literally showing the Heavy's barbecued head on a silver platter.
In meet the soldier, Valve did work hard to hide the mercs' severed heads from being shown, because they're trying to hide the fact that soldier is talking to severed heads throughout the animation so that the viewer believes he's some kind of actual drill sergeant talking to men. the part where it's revealed that he's been talking to heads is an ironic punchline that the entire animation leads up to. It is absolutely not for censorship purposes, especially given how Meet the Soldier starts with multiple mercenaries being blown up into pieces of bloody meat.
Do you forget that Mercs in this game can be blown into pieces by explosions & The Classic when you kill someone with a fully recharged shot? You can even decapitate them with most of Demoman's Sword/Axe melee weapons.
TF2 was not made for kids to begin with. just like Half-Life and Counter-Strike who wasn't made for kids either.
the whole punchline was that you dont realize he's talking to severed heads until the reveal at the end
Picking the head by random chance and picking the head based on who killed you last are pretty different things, It'd make sense if one wasn't possible and the other was.
Chickenman just said to Guy that its sadly not possible, and my guess is that its probably due to limitations.
it sucks to hear know, but limits exist within every program & game.
