I found the incompatible mod! Tweaks Galore breaks it, only took a few hours to find it lol. I appreciate all you've done with this mod and helping me with suggestions on how to get it to work!!

probably not the same issue, i think my issue was related to updating the mod for steam and it somehow being mismatched and just not working.
you can always try and unsubscribe to this mod, load a game, resubscribe and try that.
i seemingly load this mod as one of my last few mods if that helps.

but my previous suggestion about creating a new modlist, and adding little by little as you test is probably my best suggestion i can offer at the moment.

It's possible that you have a mod that breaks compatibility somehow, or even some of the DLC may change the way things work. I only own the base game so it's not something I can really check or compare.

My suggestion to you (and others) would be to start a new map to do some testing with just RIMWORLD CORE plus AAA_NP to make sure the mod even works for you. From there, you can load the same map and save, with more mods to figure out what is causing the issue.
(inversely, you can use your current modlist and disable a few at a time until it works as expected)
I play normally with a longer list of mods, but that was just to show what should be happening or what to expect.

You can always try putting this mod at the bottom of the list too maybe? That and temporarily disabling mods.

testing the patch on the 'unstable - public testing' v1.6 test branch of vanilla Rimworld. confirmed its working :)

Just coming back to the game again after a bit, appreciate your video showing step by step, but i still can't get it to work :( recreated your video steps, and everything. the only difference i can find is you only used this mod, where my list is...long. put it at the top of the load order under the game and dlcs even

My only other bit of advice would be to put this mod as close to the top of your mod lists as possible.
If any other mod changes the way that pens work, of course there can be clashes, and might break the mod.

No idea why Tynan wanted a pen system if he never planned to fully polish it. Until then we have the other system, one which consistently did what you wanted no hassle.

how will this handle grazing? and mods that modify grazing? like i have a mod that makes all chickens completely self sustained as long as they can forage, (breeding an army of chickens to convert into shamblers for base defences hahaha)

create or reuse an area via Zone > Expand Allowed Area, and set the animal to use that area. same as you would restrict a pawn

Also hate the pen system. Anything that takes control away from the players where they once had complete control is not a good thing. The pen system tops the list of bad systems that should never have seen the light of day. Sometimes the simplest system (allowed/not allowed) is the best. It was already as perfect as it could have been. There was no problem to fix. Pens added unwanted tedium and microing that wasn't there before.

God bless you for making this. I was using another mod going back to 1.2/1.3 and it seems to be dead, so finding this makes me very happy, thank you. I keep trying pens from time to time, and I just hate how limiting they are, particularly when it comes to vanilla pens not working with Colony Manager when it comes to restricting animal types to designated slaughtering areas.

Totally agree that pens were not a good update. Would it be possible to split areas between colonist areas and animals areas like how it used to be long, long ago? I tend to have quite a few areas and having them all thrown into the same area pool makes it really unmanageable, especially when I add "pens" via areas.

Looks like nothing has changed with the Pen system between v1.4 and v1.5, so I've just included the v1.5 tag in mod settings. Everything still seems to be working as expected.
If it does break with the full release, let me know and I'll dig through it and figure out what Tynan has changed.

This is an extremely important mod. I think this should be an in game setting. lol Like under customer difficult etc. I don't know why Tynan changed this. The new system I hate it. So again thanks for the mod. I think the single worse change was the new animal system. But I love Rimworld as a whole.

This is the case, yes. It reverts penned animals to a non-penned state. Effectively every animal should now be treated similar to a tamed cat or dog
