It's definitely one that I won't forget any time soon, for sure.
AceHangman  [author] 2 Apr, 2017 @ 1:51pm
Yeah, I certainly had a few moments where I wondered what I was seeing. Fortunately, it kept just enough enough cute innocence to keep from creeping me out completely.

I binge-watched Elfen Lied. I don't regret it. But I cannot reccommend it to anyone with a full stomach.

Plus, the german translation is very good. Overall the essence of the Anime is kept really well. And the minigame to deflect bullets with the body is gruesome yet neat. I'm also glad you picked "edit and play" so others can learn from it.

Much appreciated, Versuch's mit demheir.

Yes, the scene from Elfen Lied that it portrays is very violent. It's probably way more violent than something I would have tried to make normally. However, it did give me a good challenge in having to make NPC sprites that died in interesting ways and having to modify animations (like the gunshots) to fit in the world screen as opposed to in battle mode, where they tend to be pretty large).

Modifying one of the Shoot Special animations to look like a scope reticule and then playing around with the movements and timing to make it swirl around and then focus in on the character was a personal high point for me at the time.

That was way better than I expected it to be. Very good and elaborate cutscenes. Didn't know a game like this can be so brutal.

Thank you. It is so nice of you to hear a compliment for a fun little thing I made for a friend. I admit I often berate myself for not being more motivated to complete my other projects, mostly I just help edit and proofread others' RPG Maker works but I am glad if you found a smile or chuckle in there amidst blowing guards' head off and painting the walls red.

This is probably my favorite thing that I have seen. I would love to see more stuff like this for us to check out.

Yes, I have 1/4th of the Bando episode done. Because Bando is kind of a jerk, it lacks the... innocent wonder of Lucy's story. There's a lot more conversation with many Bando-like and not Bando-like dialogue choices. The hard part is making sure that it's actually fun.
Makedounia 8 Dec, 2014 @ 12:45pm
I really enjoyed this. Good job! Are you going to make more?
Eko 7 Dec, 2014 @ 3:14pm
Thank you AceHangman. I had never even heard of this series. Now I've watched it and am amazed, and want more, from both you and the makers of the series. Thanks for enlightening me.

Thank you, HØreck . It is always nice to receive a compliment. I hope it made you smile as much as your comment made me smile. I am aware of how very short and straightforward this little project is and I appreciate that people realize that it is a tribute and fun little diversion to practice my RPG Maker skills on and not a rip-off or attempt to steal other peoples' ideas and creations.

Me gusto mucho, sobretodo los detalles de la serie xD. Un gran trabajo. :D
AceHangman  [author] 9 Oct, 2014 @ 12:38pm
I still like to load this one up and run through it on commercial breaks.

Probably not the right place for this but: I'm still working on the Bando version. I've been having a great time helping many other wonderful people with their own projects and got a bit sidetracked. I've been rewatching the episodes and just shaking my head at this guy... I really really don't like him for the most part. I'll probably make him die a lot. Finished the target range mini game and now to design the chopper scene.
The Dark One  [author] 11 Sep, 2014 @ 9:30am
Workshop downloads for the RPG Maker, you need to subscripe. Then open the maker and go to "manage projects". Now you should find the games and save them to your harddrive ^^
AceHangman  [author] 10 Sep, 2014 @ 11:45pm
The Gamefront Site? Yeah, I believe if you don't sign in, there will be a survey, some silly question or some kind, just choose an answer. That's what I did when I was testing the German version. It should take you to the download page and after 5 seconds start the download automatically. I should probably mention this in the Discussion thread.

I am sorry you're having trouble, I appreciate your willingness to take a look at the project. I know it's really short as it was just a gift I was making for my friend, The Dark One, who introduced me to the series. I hope we can get things sorted out.
What's a lizard 10 Sep, 2014 @ 11:03pm
When I get to the site there is no download button.
AceHangman  [author] 10 Sep, 2014 @ 9:08pm
Hmm, I could only suggest running a search for 'Elfen Lied' on your computer, otherwise if the download link isn't working you might try the Gamefront download, which is linked under Discussions Version 1.1: German. Let me know if the search works or if the the alternate site does. If anyone else has trouble with downloading here I will try a reload from my end.
What's a lizard 10 Sep, 2014 @ 6:45pm
Nope, nowhere. At first I thought there was something wrong with the file, so I deleted it and re- got it. Now it's nowhere to be found.
AceHangman  [author] 10 Sep, 2014 @ 2:57am
I can try. I assume yo have RPG Maker VX Ace? I only downloaded the specific game files, not all the RTP data (this makes a huge difference in file size) so you need the program to run it. Assuming you do have it, does it show up in your Download folder, or wherever you normally put such files?
What's a lizard 9 Sep, 2014 @ 8:52pm
I can't get the game to start up. Can you please help me?
The Dark One  [author] 7 Sep, 2014 @ 1:21am
You can cut the edges too-
AceHangman  [author] 7 Sep, 2014 @ 12:52am
I ended up using PrintScreen key, but that captured my whole desktop, so I had to back up, go into Full Screen game mode, hit the button multiple times (since I got no visual indication that it worked), then sort them from my Dropbox where the screenshots went.
The Dark One  [author] 6 Sep, 2014 @ 11:31pm
I just have a german keyboard. All I need is the "Druck"-key next to F12. With this you can take Windows-screenshots. But thats not saved yet. Open IrfanView or whatever you prefere and paste it in. Next save it as you wish (Steam uses .jpg by default, but I'm not sure if it matters). Now there should be some kind of "change"-button on the workshop-page. Here you should be able to add some. At least that worked for Skyrim.
AceHangman  [author] 6 Sep, 2014 @ 4:17pm
Aaaaand...there! I learned to do something new! Screenshots!
carrieshot ♣™ 6 Sep, 2014 @ 4:10pm
my games has 30 something subscribers but all i did was crop a picture then put it up because i didn't know how since i wanted to put it up
AceHangman  [author] 6 Sep, 2014 @ 4:04pm
No, but my cat probably can. Every time he jumps on the laptop I have to clear out 4 or 5 screenshots.

Actually, it's a little complicated, the F12 key that normally does it actually causes RPGMaker to reload the Title screen so I have to take manual screenshots and then maybe load them as artwork. I think I can get a couple of pictures up though. Good idea.
carrieshot ♣™ 6 Sep, 2014 @ 3:39pm
ya and to be able to upload a picture
AceHangman  [author] 6 Sep, 2014 @ 3:35pm
Are you asking if I know how to take screenshots of an RPG Maker game?
carrieshot ♣™ 6 Sep, 2014 @ 1:57pm
i've been wondering if ya know how to take pictures in game on a rpg maker game
The Dark One  [author] 6 Sep, 2014 @ 7:39am
There might be an "Autor" next to my name now, but AceHangman is still the one who made this game.
Enjoy :madoctober:
AceHangman  [author] 6 Sep, 2014 @ 7:12am
Noted in Discussion but repeated here because he deserves lots of credit, a German translation is now available thanks to The Dark One, he's also set up an alternate download site just in case others have trouble with Workshop downloads.

I'm still new to uploading and updating, so feel free to tell me if I've destroyed anything and you feel free to send The Dark One cute emoticons from strangers saying 'Danke.'

AceHangman  [author] 5 Sep, 2014 @ 12:53am
I know that feeling. I'm still in the middle of my first game. Such a grand idea, broad classes, way too much stuff for a first try. Luckily, I was just reading over the forums, friended a guy and he just started talking about anime and linked Elfen Lied about a month ago. I watched it, said, 'Wow, that's messed up.' Watched some more.

Then I figured, as a gift to my new friend, I'll do a little story based on the first part. Got the dialogue, got the beginning, got the part where it ends. Needed one half-naked sprite girl with a helmet and some generic guards (making them die in different ways was a bit tough) but I worked through.

Just start with something you like and go with it. Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Hansel and Gretel. You know the story, give it your own spin. Was their father cruel? Did they overhear that they were gonna be taken to an orphanage because he couldn't pay bills? How will they deal with the witch. Will it have a happy ending or do you have a dark twist?
sacha 4 Sep, 2014 @ 9:34pm
Ok. I want to try to make a game but I don't know what about. I can't think of anything... There's so many people who can come up with stuff and i can't....
AceHangman  [author] 4 Sep, 2014 @ 8:18pm
It most certainly is. Elfen Lied content is in no way my intellectual property and I cannot in any way make money off of it. As long as it is free content and not used for profit I don't believe there will be any problem. Although if they sent me a cease-and-desist or somesuch I would certainly abide by their wishes.

As for other content belonging to others, most RPGMaker users freely allow their creations, scripts, etc. to be shared and used even for monetary projects provided credit and acknowledgement is given to them somewhere in the game. Most list their requirements alongside their creations. As you'll note, I go out of my way to mention that all Elfen Lied characters and content, as well as the story, is not my property.

About all I do 'own' pertaining to this project would be the security guard sprites and their various death throes (also the sniper scope animation at the end), which I will now state are free to be used in anyone's game as long as I get mentioned.
sacha 4 Sep, 2014 @ 8:09pm
It would be cool if you made more. Also is it copyright to make games that are made by other people?
AceHangman  [author] 4 Sep, 2014 @ 8:00pm
Would you like me to? I am currently making one focused on Bandoh, the sociopathic SAT agent, so I am rewatching several episodes in between work and such. I am only up to the target range so far, RPG-wise, which isn't far into his story.
sacha 4 Sep, 2014 @ 5:15pm
Are you gonna make more Elfen Lied games?
AceHangman  [author] 4 Sep, 2014 @ 1:03pm
I used Game Character Hub which came included with RPGMaker in a Humble Bundle.
sacha 4 Sep, 2014 @ 8:43am
How do you make character sprites?
AceHangman  [author] 4 Sep, 2014 @ 6:08am
Well then... um... think of all the guards later on whose lives you managed to save... by being defeated. Revel in your punishm... I mean 'reward'! Which is...cleverly disguised as a 'Game Over.'
Goom 4 Sep, 2014 @ 5:43am
I was clearly being punished. It was a game over after all, wasn't it?
AceHangman  [author] 3 Sep, 2014 @ 6:34pm
Cool. As the author, it's obvious to me what needs to be done, but it takes real players to reveal if something is too hard or if something which is obvious to me isn't necessarily easy for everyone else.
sacha 3 Sep, 2014 @ 5:14pm
Oh, now I get it.
AceHangman  [author] 3 Sep, 2014 @ 5:00pm
Don't dodge the bullets. Block the bullets. If you can figure out the clues as to which guards will fire, move to that side or the center.
sacha 3 Sep, 2014 @ 4:52pm
How am I suppose to dodge the bullets??????????????
AceHangman  [author] 3 Sep, 2014 @ 4:18pm
Punished? Or....'rewarded' with bonus content that no one else got to see because they watched the first episode?
Goom 3 Sep, 2014 @ 8:41am
Did I seriously get punished twice for letting the guards live when killing them wasn't necessary?
