"Recalling that he was the remarkable promoter of the sense of understanding between peoples and durable peace between the nations of the world and that he worked all his life for the development of harmony and cooperation between peoples without distinction of color, religion and race,
"It is decided that UNESCO should colloborate in 1981 with the Turkish Government on both intellectual and technical plans for an international colloquium with the aim of acquainting the world with the various aspects of the personality and deeds of Atatürk whose objective was to promote world peace, international understanding and respect for human rights.
In 1981, the centennial of Atatürk's birth, the memory of Atatürk was honored by the United Nations and UNESCO by declaring it The Atatürk Year in the World and adopting the Resolution on the Atatürk Centennial as follows:
"Convinced that personalities who worked for understanding and cooperation between nations and international peace will be examples for future generations,
"Recalling that the hundredth anniversaryof the birth of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, will be celebrated in 1981,
"Knowing that he was an exceptional reformer in all fields relevant to the competence of UNESCO,
Earlier versions of the mod had more of a diplomatic bent, but for various reasons I chose more agricultural gameplay. After all, Turkish cuisine is universally known as the best food in the world which is why everyone keeps trying to claim it's actually theirs.
Also, did RawSasquatch made a Turkey mod in V? I've never played it so I don't remember seeing it in his collection
I see what you tried to do with the Unique Ability requiring farms around campuses and theater squares. This reflects how Turkey was mostly an agricultural and rural society during the era and the leadership invested into the education of rural masses with Köy Enstitüleri etc. That's a very good concept and it really invites a different strategy than just amassing all quarters together.
I only find that, in order to better reflect this "rural development" effort, you can support pastures and plantations in addition to the farms. These are all parts of agricultural activities and I found myself having to remove valuable pastures to make farms to leverage the ability, which would not make sense in the real world. Stockbreeding and plantations were also a big part of rural Anatolia so I think the mod can include that too.
I hope you consider it, cheers!
The maps that I use:
-Saph's Mediterranean Mare Nostrum TSL
-Yet Not Another Maps Pack
-EUROPA (largest possible europe map)
You did it well, the regular army is like the janissaries, but relevant in the late game and stronger, maybe you may need to weaken them a little though im not sure about this, and if we need to put farms next to the campuses, they could gain 0.5 adjacency from the farms because we get more science in the short term, but in the long run, I think it is worse than a +6 campus
I went back and forth much on the unique building and unique building - Turkey has many options for these - but ultimately I decided on the current uniques because I think it suits the design the most.
Esnaf Lokantaları are a neighborhood district building like the food market. Farms or Districts must be built around it to get the listed benefits.
A standard Great General bonus is +5 Combat Strength and +1 Movement. Ordinarily, Düzenli Ordular have 68 Combat Strength (as opposed to the normal 75 for normal infantry) and 2 movement, but with a Great General of appropriate age this increases by 15 combat strength to 83 and 3 move to 5 to reflect the speed of the Great Offensive.
Is the capital Ankara or Istanbul? It's important to be Ankara especially in real life true location maps.
About the Esnaf Lokantası; correct me if I'm wrong but is it in neighbourhood district? And should we build farms around the district to get the bonuses you have mentioned?
Finally, for the Düzenli Ordu; For example, Infantry has 50 CS, for turkey it is 43. With a great general around, how much is its CS? 43x3 or what?
I would make 'KÖY ENSTİTÜLERİ' as a science+culture producing building instead of 'ESNAF LOKANTASI' to be more historically true.
Even you may edit the leader ability as 'LAİKLİK' which gives some disadvantage to faith, but advantage to diplomacy and amenity or smth.
With the aspects that you made, it seemed to me more like a leader persona of his warrior times.
Maybe we may add ''Father of Turks' persona to him and add more about his post-republic traits.
If you are open to such collaboration, I would enjoy to contribute :)
Anyways, thank you for adding our dear Atatürk to the game. Which I was feeling absence of him really much. :)
Nice yüzyıllara, yaşasın Atatürk'ün izindeki Türkiye Cumhuriyeti!
As for why I've been very careful with Atatürk, I just understand why many seem to despise him and will acknowledge that he had his flaws. If I make him come off as evil, I was not meaning to.
"HALK EVLER" should be "HALK EVLERİ", and "ESNAF LOKANTA" should be "ESNAF LOKANTASI" :)
Won't go into much detail but these are noun phrases, not adjective clauses so you need to inflect the second words accordingly. Thanks! :)
It has come to my attention that you tried to be very "sensitive" in your description for those who may not like Ataturk or Turkey. In my opinion, you did not even have to, actually. Why so apologetic? It is not like he is the most evil guy ever - he was objectively pretty progressive and peaceful, considering the era and the circumstances. I am only saying this because you should not worry about a backlash so much. Those who don't like him don't have to download your mod, and those who hate him can download it and try to beat him :) Cheers!
