Well you see making maps in source can be quite a chore to do. So executing unique stuff can be a pain. Also this is a beta version so it might be subject to change when its finished.

I'm not saying you should just remake Staticbound in a new layout. I've just never had any fun with friends on the other Gm_Hide maps as they all follow a formula that I don't find very fun. But Staticbound is a consistently amazing time and always throws some kind of curve-ball our way no matter how many times we've been through it.

You should make something more unique like Staticbound was. This looks practically identical to the older Gm_Hide maps. Staticbound had a unique setting and would legit hold up as its own horror game.

maybe a lamp that emits light in all directions? idk. but if there's anything i've learned in my 12 years playing gmod, it's that tedious things like that, tend to be a turnoff to the map as a whole. I wanna devote my energy to being scared and the suspense of the map. Not lugging around a clunky prop to see clearly.

ok so there IS a flashlight later. got it. what im saying tho is maybe make is easier to get around without having to carry a prop with a beam of light emitting from it to see. some areas are fine bc there's candles or whatever, but some rooms are too dark to see in without light, and having to position the big clunky light source in the corner of the room so that i can see properly, is a huge pain in the ass

@Six The monster does despawn when it's finished, but it comes back after a short while. The light source is limited, and it is intentional. I want players to find the flashlight later on in the level to really have that progressing feel. It's a rough balance between scary and annoying, because sometimes limitations can become frustrating while sometimes bringing a great horror aspect.

okay so i played a bit and right off the bat i can see the detail put into it. I would suggest allowing the flashlight, or at least some alternate light source that doesn't involve lugging a prop around the map. That tends to get a bit tedious. It's very scary so far tho

You'll definitely know when he spawns. No, it's not immediate, you have to get about a third of the way.

this is actually really promising on paper. just subbed to the map so i haven't tried it yet, but now im excited. does the monster beeline for you immediately after spawning, or does he search for you? and, how do you know when he despawns?

@XephyrCraft how do you go about making these? like what is your process for mapping & making the map logic? I'm interested in trying to make my own small horror map someday but have no idea where to start. I understand mapping in Hammer fine but as far as scripting goes I have no idea lol
