That said, it crashes if you try to do anything weird, like conquer India as Rome. Unfortunate, but such is life.

makes sense. If any issues. follow the same as gold and silver, but the EDB file is good.
I love people and how they share info. Not trying to be the wiseguy here, but just part of the community. Anyhow, I was really annoyed with not being to mine other metals. Less money than Gold and Silver, but still something to keep things spicy. So, I discovered the desc_sm_resources.txt and edited things like this:
Example: "iron"
by default it was "none", so I changed it to "mineable". Sample:
"subtype": "mineable",
Also, the export_descr_buildings.txt needs to modded. My choices:
mines requires factions { barbarian, carthaginian, eastern, parthia, egyptian, greek, roman, } and resource silver or resource gold or resource marble or resource lead or resource iron or resource amber or resource copper

I simplified the names for my own use... i.e. Khloe, Skylas, Thoysa. Just because I am a true newbie... (Still messing with barbarian engineering and trying to add those lvl 4 and 5 buildings :( )

Details at the bottom. Hope this response helps. No doubt you would have figured this out, but it was a quick fix for me, so a CTRL+H to replace all the "ö" to "o" and "í" to "i", might give you the freedom to... Appreciate the flavor, but this workaround was needed. For me. No judgements....

2nd sorry for the delay but as I said above, loving the campaign, and I am fighting Carthage and Macedons on your German map, at turn 30, eliminated Romans and 303 regions to manage.... lol
Known issue, trying to fix it. Most likely, I think it's something in descr_strat. Or with the character name files.

That's interesting, I think steam comments have issue w/ showing the special characters in those names. Could you give me the names again w/o the special characters + the specific txt files you changed them in? I'd like to reproduce those changes and see if it helps.
No i meant you can still edit the ground_types.tga in photoshop even if it's already generated.

Sorry, work obligations have been taking up most of my modding time so far in Feb. Once things stabilize, work on this should continue progressing.
I prefer RIS and if not MM, as it they are easier to flesh out. If I can overcome the challenge of Indian and Chinese armies, then this map will be fun.
I have tried Pontus and no crashes.
The only thing I can pinpoint w/ any certainty that seemed to be an issue was possible invalid character names, or something of the sort. Which is being addressed by just scrapping anything to do w/ new names and using the files from the Imperator map, since that version is stable.
That should explain the end turn issues hopefully. As for crashing in battles, this mod doesn't change anything to do w/ units. Without crash logs, I really can't begin to speculate on that.
Either way, I wouldn't recommend trying to play this map given the instabilities; at least not until the next update, prolly after the holidays.
If you like how the AI plays on it, that's good I guess, but I didn't modify AI at all.
However, I'm experiencing a lot of crashes when I end turn or before/during a battle.
I believe that you know about the problem and you are doing/ will do something about it, so may I ask you for some info about the crashes and when you intend to try and fix them.
Don't get me wrong, I have zero intentions of trying to let you down.
It was literary what I want to play, bigger vanilla with good AI.
As a grinder I will try to not to give them them much attention and push through them, but I hope that there will be a fix in the future.
The mod it 10 out of 10! Please, don't stop working on it!
@Kirsi Good to hear, it was two months now, thought you maybe abandonded it due to too many errors in code, so was mostly curious. Sorry if I my Q sounded jerkish, it wasn't intended. Thanks for your work anyway. Good luck...
Since I have to rebuild the descr_strat anyway, I've been taking the time to also make a lot of adjustments/fixes, (as I'm documenting medieval/ancient sites in central Asia in more detail than before - leading to seeing a bunch of errors in the current map). This involves correcting/adding some mountains & rivers, and 67 more regions for some of the more empty parts of the map.
Releasing updates in steps would mean another 10GB download every week or so (that isn't save game compatible), which seems a it excessive to me.
If I just pushed the current state of the map, you'd have 400 something settlements without garrisons (since I'm redoing them just in case there was an error w/ them).
No new factions in this thing.

Um, I'm not sure what you mean by 'grid' over India? Do you mean the farmland textures?

No. The way the file structure works, basically all the text files you see in this mod would need to be merged (adding the things that are unique to this map, basically the info for all the regions) with the matching files in the mods you mentioned.
