Oh, and another thing - a question mostly: How were we supposed to know the murder place? I eliminated any rooms that had people in them during the murder, but the ballroom mentioned people leaving an hour before it - so how can we exclude this, or verify the right room which was not mentioned anywhere?
phoebesta 22 Mar @ 10:47am
Couple of issues: First of all, when solving Dr Scarlet's puzzle a set of steps stayed on the carpet, and as a result it would show up when it was not supposed to, and hid when it was supposed to light up. Made an already rather difficult puzzle (I hate trying to stand on specific squares I can't even see while using the game's walking controls) rather maddening. If it helps, it was during the last dance routine, middle pair of footsteps right next to the edge of the carpet. Also, I am not entirely sure, but I think the room photos that were available to me did not entirely correspond to the options I had in the progress room. I wanted to go back and check, but there was no way to do it after clicking "Stay". There was also no way I could see to trigger the exit again, just had to close the game. Nice room overall, I love your rooms and it seems this was your first one, which is very impressive!

Just finished the room, I thought it was really well down, but for some reason it jumped the gun and said I'd solved it when I hadn't put down a location just a killer and a weapon.

my family and i love the clue movie and games and i can def say that this was one of the best ones to date. wish it was able to be randomized or another new one built.

Sorry, I misinterpreted your use of the phrase "in order" in your previous reply. I guess I'll never know exactly why I couldn't complete the first time but apparently it was no fault of your design. It is a beautiful room.
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 22 Apr, 2024 @ 12:53am
There was no order to the puzzles, they just all had to be completed for the cabinets to unlock
donnabeane57 21 Apr, 2024 @ 5:24pm
Played it again and was able to finish. Not sure what was different because the first time I had found all of the weapons, accessories and location pics and this time I still had to go back and do something I missed the first time around.
donnabeane57 21 Apr, 2024 @ 4:40pm
I didn't see any indication of order in the puzzles. I started with the first portrait and followed them around the room but I skipped over some of the clues in the hope of finding more clues about them down the line. So by doing that I lost the chance to finish the room?
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 21 Apr, 2024 @ 1:31pm
Hi. Yes, you have to complete all puzzles in order to put in the solution in the cabinets. You would be able to tell if anything was missing from the detective room.
donnabeane57 21 Apr, 2024 @ 11:36am
Beautifully set up, nicely decorated with a well executed "plot" but I did have a few difficulties. Some were me just missing stuff. A couple of nudges from the walkthrough set me straight but there were a couple things that I thought were a bit too obscure. One was the desk combination. I hadn't noticed much about the subtext because I had a hard time just reading the names in the headings. Even once I knew what I had to look for from the walkthrough, it was difficult for me to make out the dates, some I had to guess based on comparison tot he death date. The other was the red shoes The patterns disappeared so quickly, it was hard to change focus from the shoes to the entire rug, fast enough to observe the patterns Finally, despite having come to the right conclusions, I was unable to complete the game. Since others have done so, maybe I missed something but I was unable to open the cabinets to place the items.
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 9 Apr, 2024 @ 6:44am
The room was inspired by the board game. None of the board game rules or actions applied to the game are in the escape room. To make it an immersive escape experience, no directions are listed in the room itself. The deduction room specifically states that nothing has to be done in that room to escape, and that it’s there for a visual aide. While I’ve watched streams and seen people question where to finalize the room, I’ve also always seen them make the connection in the end. I’m sorry it wasn’t clear for you.
dunbaratu 9 Apr, 2024 @ 6:08am
Well, it's sad to see that the author has a blind spot to see misfeature as correct behavior. (When playing the boardgame clue, the meta aspect of what rules themselves actually are isn't part of the mystery. "You physically make the accusation by opening the envelope" isn't the mystery in that game.)
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 6 Apr, 2024 @ 2:34pm
well, that part is part of the escape room. It doesnt give outright directions because it's part of the overall puzzle. There are hints in the clue room that correlate directly with the items in the desk cabinets that are lit in green light. ie. guillotine for cause of death, globe for location, the goblets for suspect. The identical things are found in both places.
dunbaratu 6 Apr, 2024 @ 9:13am
Good idea for a room, but I had this problem with the UI:

I got to the end and kept thinking, "I know the answer now. So ... How do I physically tell the game my answer?".

Nowhere does the game tell you that's what the 3 white rectangles on the desk cabinets are meant for, or that they are even frobbable things.
jlionbad 30 Mar, 2024 @ 9:10am
How humorous that at the end you see a monopoly car beyond the gate
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 9 Mar, 2024 @ 8:39pm
Iber. The investigation room clearly has those marked out for you. They have Xs on them. Its the conservatory because its the only one remaining never mentioned to be ruled out.
Iber 9 Mar, 2024 @ 8:12pm
Not sure how you are supposed to rule out the locations hall, library, and dining room as possible locations. Clues never mention them or the correct answer, the conservatory. Got it through trial and error.

Really great room! Enjoyable theme, well done clues, didn't lag with three players scattered across the world, all with pretty old non-gaming laptops.

My only two minor gameplay quibbles were: 1) after you do the Scarlet dance recreation, at one point there were two sets of heels, and at another point, when you click on the original heels, the whole puzzle started again and I didn't know how to stop it, and 2) when stacking cigar boxes, I accidentally started on the second rung instead of the bottom and had almost finished the entire thing before noticing (it looked right visually), so restacking it manually was a pain.

Overall, pretty comparable experience to an actual game level, would definitely recommend!
MurphyLLama 1 Feb, 2024 @ 12:53am
so much fun. You are an amazing room creator! I look forward to anything you make next.
heida.darra 19 Jan, 2024 @ 12:14pm
Excellent escape room!
KATY PERRY 16 Jan, 2024 @ 3:44am
Absolutely wonderful room! You did amazing and it was a lot of fun. I recently did an IRL Escape Room and I feel like you executed the theme better than they, so great job! All puzzles were intuitive & had a good difficulty level.

We never were able to locate Clue 4 & the rope. I think it may be due to a similar problem that Dzwoni had with the rope cigar puzzle. Nothing seemed interactable on the stack anymore and we tried re-inputting "rope." My best guess is that I may have input "rope" into the cigar before correctly solving the box stack?

I [think?] because of the above issue with Clue 4/Rope, the green lighted solution area never opened thus we could never "complete" the room. But we did almost get the right answer after getting Clue 4 (we thought it was Ballroom, but conservatory was our 2nd narrowed down guess)
UNLAWFULLY AWFUL 13 Jan, 2024 @ 11:54am
challenging but fun. recommended!
syndicateGin 12 Jan, 2024 @ 7:59pm
Well done!
Lexiloodle 9 Jan, 2024 @ 11:41am
I love Clue and it made for a really fun room. One of my favorites to date. Puzzles were a great balance of tricky but intuitive. And the motive was a great touch. Thanks for building it!
Goatcraft 8 Jan, 2024 @ 8:40pm
I liked it. The volumes on the voices could be increased a little, the music drowns it out.
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 7 Jan, 2024 @ 8:29pm
@Dzwoni ... The cigar boxes only merge when placed correctly. If you weren't able to remove it, it means you had it right and only needed to move the ones you could pick back up.
Dzwoni Kuzyn 7 Jan, 2024 @ 7:44pm
Cigar boxes:If you put the boxes incorrectly it;s getting stuck, you can't get it out and even after giving the right answer ROPE, the drawer with rope and clue doesnt open. you need to stack the boxes correctly for it to open, which is annoying. I had to restart my run
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 5 Jan, 2024 @ 11:36am
thanks @fyreflier I fixed those things!
Fyreflier 5 Jan, 2024 @ 10:58am
Love me a Cluedo game! I have to agree with @Spike that the pen for the Colonel Mustard clue does just look like a junk item; tagging it in some way as a clue or useful item might help there. Also I have a couple of bugs to report: the stamps work before the letter is revealed so once I did realise to click the pen, the cake was already there so it didn't make much sense and I didn't have to place the murder location for the level to register as complete, just the person and weapon. But overall I loved this!
Narrozz 4 Jan, 2024 @ 2:45pm
very good room, not hard or easy enough and the clues room was very well done
necroma 3 Jan, 2024 @ 5:04pm
really cool thanks

The piano music will end once the high heel puzzle is complete!
Caerigna 25 Dec, 2023 @ 9:15pm
there seems to be 3 sound sets; a general ambiance (set to the music volume), piano music (set to sound volume), and voices (set to sound volume). if you could put the ambiance and music together it would help a great deal. separate out the voices, as currently i can't really hear them over the piano music. :musicwidget:
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 23 Dec, 2023 @ 11:25am
@hleklc528 thanks for the compliment! Glad you enjoyed it. I have a Monopoly room in the works as well!
hleklc528 22 Dec, 2023 @ 6:38pm
This was the most fun room I've played yet! I love Clue, so to combine it with an escape room scratched an itch I didn't know I had :) Great work on this! The only time I needed to use a hint was to know how to enter my guess.
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 23 Nov, 2023 @ 7:51am
@Spike thank you for the feedback. I'll see what I can do about a replay feature on the voiceovers without messing up the aesthetic too much.
Spike 23 Nov, 2023 @ 7:40am
It took us a while to find the Colonel Musturd paper because we thought the pen was just a junk/clutter item. The cigar boxes would sometimes get stuck in the wrong spot when slotted, and trying to get them in the right spot was finicky... I think the zones were too small maybe. The voice acting was hard to hear, and it would have been nice to be able to replay the audio clips from the portraits. Like I said it was a good room and we had a good time playing it. Puzzles were clever. I really like that you added a corkboard to lay out all of the clue sheet.
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 23 Nov, 2023 @ 5:32am
@Spike I'd be happy to hear what areas you think that is?
Spike 22 Nov, 2023 @ 8:49pm
Good room, could use some polishing in certain areas though

Thanks!
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 14 Nov, 2023 @ 5:14pm
interesting...maybe that's a cultural dialect thing? Here, it's bunches of grapes.
zeo1337 14 Nov, 2023 @ 5:12pm
I have never heard of grapes coming in bunches. They come in clusters. I had to use a walkthrough for that.
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 13 Nov, 2023 @ 9:10pm
@chornbuc, but only one of those are on the fruit platter
chornbuc 13 Nov, 2023 @ 4:12pm
Both bananas and grapes come in bunches
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 12 Nov, 2023 @ 3:59pm
It is now set up to support multiplayer! @criswaller1
BrushstrokeOfChaos  [author] 12 Nov, 2023 @ 3:17pm
Let me see if I can get that fixed for you @criswaller1
criswaller1 12 Nov, 2023 @ 3:11pm
Is this meant to be playable in multiplayer? We tried, and only the game host could go through the first unlocked door.
