Since I only have this mod installed as a dependency and don’t use it directly, the persistent changelog panel feels a bit intrusive—especially when no related mods have changed in months.
Personally, I prefer checking changelogs on the Workshop page only for mods I actively use. Having this panel always visible in-game doesn’t add value in my case. It would be great if there were an option to hide it completely and persistently (not just collapse).
I understand this is a matter of preference, but I believe it would help keep the UI cleaner for users like me. Thanks for considering it!
For those having issues, I don't mind putting in the work to fix issues, but I'd need more effort put in reporting the issues. Logs, errors, more details.
Just wanted to give you more feedback, since 90% of the times, as you already know, majority of the issues are made by their users and not the opposite.
Keep the awesome work as always.
Cheers.
I understand your concerns though, the message should be more general and not have my Kofi link. 👍
I was worried you were trying to make other modders dependent on you with you being the only one who can post messages that aren't mod related. Cool to see this tool is used as intended and everyone is behaving disciplined and not suffering from MC syndrome, because creating messages in the main menu of many player is some power that some morons would definitely abuse for private conflicts, political messages, scams, spamming etc.
Examples are included in the mod, and a few modders have already used it.
The video in the description features Spongie's character customization as an example.
Thank you for the question.
b) Since you say this mod is just to "provide update info and links for any mod that uses it, not just mine. It’s designed to streamline communication, make support easier, and reduce confusion when mods update or change.", I would like to ask if every mod author that uses your mod is able to insert things like non-mod related messages where they ask for donations? Or is that something only you can do?
I get that it might not seem useful to you personally, but it serves a purpose across all my mods. And while I appreciate Ko-fi support, it doesn't come with custom versions of mods.
@author ignore these folks, the broad (and silent) majority is enjoying ans apreciating your effort and the resulting fruits
Love what you have done, I hope you still have the time to mod going forward and don't take these chucklefucks too seriously. You have done great work and if I was in a position where I had any spare money i'd gladly toss some your way as a dono.
Keep fighting the good fight brother.
Criticism is welcome, but I don’t have to tolerate mischaracterizing and being rude under the guise of ‘just sharing my opinion’. Nor tolerate getting upset when comments are removed or I fire back unkindly.
I’ve shared my perspective, considered concerns, weighed options, if I don’t agree 100% - telling me ‘nu-uh, you’re wrong, and here's why’ over and over isn’t going anywhere.
I understand not liking to be “forced” to have this mod, and I’m sorry but this is a mild inconvenience. The existence of an “advertisement” or “pop up” can rub people the wrong way- but to this degree? To get this worked up over it?
The accessibility and exposure to changelogs and support links make this requirement valid in my view. If you disagree and stop using my mods, that’s fair. But insisting I change it, and that there are no other possible solutions, and no means of compromise, all I can say is:
Well, that’s weird.
I won't be moderating this comment section.
Something to consider.
I would however strongly suggest removing the Kofi link from the main menu as well.
You have your Kofi link in all your mod descriptions on the workshop. People already know where to come to donate to you.
Basically the more "in your face" you make it for people, the more pushback you're going to receive.
As for moderating, I've probably been nuking things too cautiously - but things like that can be a build up. People will come off the handle swinging, then cool off after, and it's kind of tiring seeing who is sharing their viewpoint and who is angling to impose their opinion.
I personally don't believe its good to delete those sorts of things. I feel that should be reserved for actually harmful comments. It hides the true amount of people who disagree, and even though I doubt that's the goal, I think it is an inherently bad thing to do.
I think the part you are referring to I meant seeing this mod in particular. You mentioned before that one of the reasons you keep it as a dependency is that you don't think the people who would like this mod would see/find it if it wasn't a dependency.
The average user isn't going to be donating.
You've been told this multiple times. What about this concept are you struggling with?
Look, think about this from another angle.
Who are the people who are most likely to be interested in your patch notes?
Server admins.
Who is more likely to appreciate the hard work you've put in to your mods?
Server admins.
The average Joe isn't going to be care or be looking for patch notes, nor are they going to appreciate the hard work you've put it.
So at the end of the day you're only pissing off the people who have been your supporters.
Honestly, just remove the dependency for this mod from your other mods and let people CHOOSE.
Then ALL THIS dialogue fades away.
You are your own worst enemy in this Chuck.
Also, just to clarify, what do you mean about seeing mods? The alerts only show changelogs for activated mods. It doesn't show mods that aren't active or aren't installed. Not sure if that you've assumed based on others comments about it being "advertisement" when it's not.
And no, it's not being "a little mean", a lot of people don't argue in good faith or slide in subtle to not subtle jabs. If their comment is just reiterating what someone else said, but in a more smarmy tone - I'm going to delete it.
