@БарменБарменБар No worries, I guess what I mean by consistency is that would rather the clouds move at a constant rate (with the sun/moon and day/night transition) in order to harmonize the particles instead of one of them doing their own thing.

Timing/harmonizing is pretty important when it comes to particle making too: when trying to sync particle lifetime/emission (typically a constant unchanging rate- the duration/rate in which clouds fade and spawn in/out with the day/night time of the effect, with player movement (a nearly unpredictable changing varible), it resulted in a lot of visual inconsistencies. With so many elements changing during the lifetime of this effect, I decided it would be best to avoid unnecessary gimmicks as it would make an already sorta busy effect noisier.

Thanks again for the feedback ^^

Maybe make it move sideways by itself and vertically like i suggested? I think it would solve the lack of movement when not changing hight too much. Just throwing ideas out here.

@БарменБарменБар That idea came up during my planning stages as well, but unfortunately was scrapped as it would be too glitchy. The clouds would not move consistently with day/night if the player wasn't moving enough or was moving too much. It was a neat idea though and I've seen other unusuals on the workshop execute this mechanic well!

i have a weird idea, can you somehow tie movement of clouds to vertical coordinate position of player? would be neat if they moved accordingly to player falling or rising

Thank you, its just that initially due to their higher contrast they're what my eye is drawn attention to first. So thats more likely the issue imo.

@dondon This was an intentional design choice as the sun/moon were meant to be background items compared to the clouds. These will move faster in the foreground. Still, thank you for the feedback and I appreciate the constructive criticism ^^

The clouds move too fast in contrast with the sun and moon, which move at a more appropriate speed. Try to reduce the speed of the clouds so it matches them.

The way this turned out looks so damn good, was very interested in the creativity behind the original version and was hoping it'd get some kind of makeover like this. We really need some unusuals like this to make it in the game.
DaVinchi 11 Nov, 2023 @ 4:47pm
this looks much better then the first version
@Stigmatism 11 Nov, 2023 @ 2:02pm
im impressed people are able to still make good original unusuals, bravo. :steamthumbsup:

very nice! If I may, I believe the clouds should be slightly slower, not rise so far above the glowing background and shouldn't end as abruptly when it switched from day to night. Otherwise great improvement, I think this really has a nice shot of being added :)

This is a really neat concept. I think it would look a lot more clean if you could contain the clouds inside the rest of the effect a bit better, rather than having them shooting so far upward. It would be nice if more people attempted unusual effects with as much creativity as you have here.
