Dark_453 24 Aug, 2017 @ 1:08am
Was this Ever Made Fixed? - If not By chance do you have the Original Textures for the skybox, i could propply fix this my self.
Ravenjrake 29 Jan, 2017 @ 3:42pm
Has this been fixed?
Thanks :)

Any know how remove sun??y disable sun rotation,but sun light all space,i have normal light
plaYer2k  [author] 28 Oct, 2015 @ 4:00pm
Weird. The background in DX11 shows the normal background for me but the DX9 version is all white.

Also yes apparently DX11 skyboxes still dont support certain parameters and thus ignore light and sun settings.
I will publish a bug report soon hoping that keen will fix it til next week.
DanteVento 26 Oct, 2015 @ 9:12pm
Also got full sun in DX11.
jarhead 26 Oct, 2015 @ 10:20am
broken shows nothing but white background in dx11
jarhead 25 Oct, 2015 @ 11:54am
Full light in dx11.
Any fixes yet?
Weak1ings 3 Oct, 2015 @ 1:54pm
Please make us a DX11 version, I've found that when using it in this API the sun is too bright for my tastes...
Speaking of which, it might not be that bad considering others might want a brighter darkness.

I would love to see a new Skybox with 95-100% darkness shadows, a dimmer sun, and no fog.
Thanks for the mod!!!

@Te.name
There is a pitch black skybox already.

@Major Kolton
Yeah there was a fog parameter but its rendered useless now afaik.
Not sure if/when/how something changes again in that regards.

@cakethulu
Yes
Orgalith 20 Dec, 2014 @ 4:26pm
hey, im having a problem with these kinds of skyboxes. I tried this and another darkness skybox and for all of them it didnt make it dark, just have a little white fog and stuff. what's the deal?
cakethulu 5 Dec, 2014 @ 12:14pm
so the solar panels generate the same amount of energy?
CQ2 21 Nov, 2014 @ 9:40am
Fun!
chemicalvamp 20 Oct, 2014 @ 6:43pm
Same here, Hope it's corrected soon.
Chips The Otter 18 Oct, 2014 @ 8:47pm
please fix the background is white
RelicOfABygoneEra 18 Oct, 2014 @ 6:35pm
Same issue here. Space is white with black asteroids.
☆ Monkfish 17 Oct, 2014 @ 3:17pm
Is this skybox broken for anyone? Space is completely white with black asteroids for me. It happened after the last update.
LafTur 11 Oct, 2014 @ 12:24am
For everyone who thinks that the ambient light in a region of space has anything to do with the proximity to a light source...

it's perfectly resonable for it to be pitch-black and still be very close to the sun. Anything other than pitch-black indicates the presence of matter in the area that is REFLECTING and SCATTERING the light from the sun. Remember, your eyes can only see light that enters them. The near sun is spewing light in all directions, but you only see the light that comes directly from it to your eyes. The surrounding area will only look anything but pitch black if there is something to reflect the light from the sun to your eyes.

You mean the blocks above? Yes those are speakers Eikester made for me in order to develop a speaker mod once possible C:
Nioreux 9 Oct, 2014 @ 3:55pm
what are those boxs are the speakers?
plaYer2k  [author] 12 Sep, 2014 @ 2:48pm
Well the issue with altering the suns distance is afaik that it also influences the suns irradiation and thus the solar panels output.

Also like previously said, i am a pretty bad texture artists so it might be better for some other people to try and make a nice stary background.
Neshimi 12 Sep, 2014 @ 9:25am
Is it possible for you to make the sun look further away? Like it's deeper in a dark part of space? It looks a -little- wierd with a lage sun and no light. But this is FANTASTIC. Also, maybe as a different mod download, have faint tiny pinprick stars? Just to break the monotonous black into something visible. Keep it up!
Exemida 10 Sep, 2014 @ 3:57am
Definitely gives it that spooky feel add this to some space horror themed server :3
plaYer2k  [author] 7 Sep, 2014 @ 8:05pm
It is not that i am smart. It is much more that this was not possible 3 patches ago. The devs did add this feature 2 patches ago and thus it just became possible.
V4D4RS F1ST 7 Sep, 2014 @ 7:41pm
ur smart though a ton of guys told me darkness with a sun could not be done lol u did it i might link em to it now
plaYer2k  [author] 7 Sep, 2014 @ 8:46am
Yeah i know, though i am pretty bad with making good looking textures.
Thus this mod is one of the mods that other artists with great skills in Skyboxes (like AedanXaelan) can check out and do for their own awesome skyboxes :)

That said, i guess that i will keep my mod the way it is.
Also editing the sun texture through a mod did not work two versions ago oddly.
And not that i am busy with exams, i might not spend much time with SE anyway :)
Feisty Eliza 7 Sep, 2014 @ 8:35am
@plaYer2K From my own experiments with this, I think you need to actually replace the sun texture to get it to be darker. Also, I really like having mods like this with a needlepoint star skybox (spaced out, tiny, dim stars). It adds ambiance without killing the darkness effect.
V4D4RS F1ST 6 Sep, 2014 @ 11:48pm
i had talked to someone about a map like this glad to see it was done
plaYer2k  [author] 4 Sep, 2014 @ 12:08am
@Balmung
The odd thing with shader modding is, altering shader files and removing their compilation while running the game tabbed out is no problem at all.
Upon changing back into the game, the shaders get recompiled automatically and you can play, so yes i really dont see why shader mods are such a big issue.

@Phoenix
Alright i will look into that :)

@Dr.Dangerous
Looks like i cant get the sun darker for some reason. I altered the sun aswell as changed the transparentmaterials.sbc within the mod folder but that didnt affect the sun for me. So i really dont know how to change it.
However if anyone else could come up with a working fix, let me know :)
Balmung 3 Sep, 2014 @ 11:58pm
@plaYer2k: yes, but as far as i read the Devs said, that Shader Mods are difficult and have no high priority for Modding Support right now. So if Support for Shader Mods came than late.
PhoenixTheSage 3 Sep, 2014 @ 3:25pm
Could we get a version with a basic starfield like the Entropy skybox? Same settings just with something other than pure black? That way we can have an in-between :P
plaYer2k  [author] 3 Sep, 2014 @ 3:08pm
Yeah well, it still is no proper shader modding AND it is linked to a skybox. So we can not load a skybox and a darkness setting next to each other as they still override each other.

That means that you would need each a darkness setting for each skybox. Which is pretty bad imo, but well better than nothing :D

So yeah your tool might be obsolete now, but it had a use for many people for a long time and thats good.
Balmung 3 Sep, 2014 @ 2:33pm
Ok, nice to see that this is possible now, so my SkyBox Tools are completely useless now. :)

A bit sad for me, but good for alle Players AND it works on Servers too. ^^
QWERTY 31 Aug, 2014 @ 5:46pm
Agree with a version more dark but with solar panels. Good work, thx.
plaYer2k  [author] 31 Aug, 2014 @ 5:29pm
Yes it is. Just as dark as it is unless exposed to the sun or any other source of light like spotlights, interior turrets etc.
JohnnyFlacko 31 Aug, 2014 @ 12:46pm
Is it completely dark in an isolated room? (The inside of an asteroid)
Dr.Dangerous 31 Aug, 2014 @ 9:51am
I was thinking that it should be as dim as you can get it. thanks :D
plaYer2k  [author] 31 Aug, 2014 @ 5:43am
Good idea, i will look into it soon :)
Dr.Dangerous 30 Aug, 2014 @ 8:29pm
Im not sure if you can do this, but can you lower the brightness of the sun? that way we can have our solar panels and our darkness.
