@Xtinction To be fair the phrasing of "Observation is twice as fast as the default game, but research progress is not as fast.", quite literally means that the research speed is "not as fast as in the default game", so there's plenty of reason to get confused, you're not alone xD

That being said, the math explanation after that sort of cleared it up, combined with the comments section, in my case ^^'

im not a modder it was just confusing i didnt know you had to double the research in order to increase the observation. i guess i just didnt put it together is all

@Xtinction: One change doubles the speed of both observation AND research. The other change halves the research bench speed.

The end result of doubling something, and then halving it is that it stays EXACTLY the same. Basic math.

so it decreases observe time but increases research time? im confusedbecause it says "but lowering the efficiency of the research desks themselves to half their normal values." because in the beginning of the description it says "but with normal Research speeds."

As I said, it's not required. Ignore what it 'says'. I have no plans to change how it is right now. The reason for doing it that way is so that the two mods, if they are used together, load in the correct order.

If you don't want to use both mods, just ignore the message. If the message bothers you, complain to Haemimont Games for not having another way to ensure mod load order.

It is not required.
And totally my bad if I have it set as if it is required. I'll look into that.

It might throw an error without it, in the log files, but it won't do any harm.

Is the High Tech Research Desk required? When I enabled the mod, it said it the HTRD mod was missing.
