Geebanger hit the nail on the head with the diffs in model stylisation.
This looks nothing like a fortnite gun lmao, it fits perfectly
Headshots, as a game mechanic, shouldn't be utilised by any class other than sniper or spy. Pyro, Heavy, Soldier and Engineer are not pick classes, and accurate shot placement is not a trait that their playstyles demand.
To be clear, the issue is that you're encouraging classes built around area denial, splash damage, and autoaim to attempt to go for headshots.
both this weapon and the pump shotgun from fortnite are made to resemble real world weapons such as the remington 870 (in this case its just an 870 with a sight on it). If they both take inspiration from the same source, then no shit they're going to look similar.
However, this is very clearly not a Fortnite-style weapon model. Fortnites guns are characterised by harsh angles and uneven geometry; this model more closely resembles TF2s simpler, more round weapons. Whilst the model itself is certainly quite large, and looks a little odd in the full body promos, in terms of style its ok (the thumbnail probably didn't help in this regard).
The thumbnail is a little bit of poor taste but to spawn most of these responses is petty.
also a more balanced idea would be:
Mini-crit on headshot
30% more accurate
-10 less pellets
-20% slower swith to speed
mini-crit damage should have the same range as the asbassder!
And again, what the modellers made was a generic pump action shotgun , which has been a thing in TF2 since 2007. What, because they chose something from a popular game that's totally generic, it's suddenly unfitting for this game?
And hell, you're going to say this doesn't fit TF2 because they're referencing another game, when this game has promotional weapons from other games with way different aesthetics from TF2? Like how do the superfuturistic weapons we got from Deus Ex: Human Revolution look way more fitting than a pump-action shotgun with wood furnishings?
And yes, this does take inspiration from the Chapter 1 shotgun [images2.minutemediacdn.com], but saying it's the exact same model from another game is a massive reach, as the Big Buck takes a lot of different design approaches compared to the Chapter 1 shotgun.
Who cares if it's inspired by Fortnite anyway? This is probably the least offensive thing in the entire game to take inspiration from. Shotguns of this design have been a thing since the 1800s; this wasn't something that Epic Games themselves created.
Even the fucking thumbnail
Reminder this is the TF2 not Fortnite or Roblox
Regardless what the reasoning may be, Fortnite did use TF2 as a source of inspiration during its development when cementing an artstyle, and that applied to how the weapons in their game were to be designed and styling certain bits of clothing. Even if someone on the workshop's trying to make a cosmetic that looks like its its own thing, there's always some clown making a big stink, because it somehow reminds them of a Fortnite playerskin.
Same players: "TF2 is turning into Fortnite"
TF2 is not a serious game depicting the Cold-War Era of the world and it never was.
