In the game this mod lists your Jaggid's Survivor Tweaks as a dependency, but it is not linked to that mod here or configured to show that.

Not to the degree that the speed difference is in the game, @Ycando.
Ycando 18 Jun, 2024 @ 6:26pm
I appreciate the effort and love your mods. Wanted to point out that most men are faster and stronger than most women so this tweak seams a bit unnecessary but to each there own.Thx for all bro

Thank you very much, Jaggid. Your mods are usually great in improving the game experience.

What about implementing a mod that removes undesired traits in game, e.g. by utilizing the medical bed and for instance star credits? Would it be implementable at all?

Because I like words.
Words are what separate us from the animals. Do you want to be an animal?

Why use lot word when few word do trick

Personally, I have stuck with the double space after periods simply because I feel it makes text more quickly readable. People who read quickly do not read individual words, they read chunks of words at one time, the double space at the end of a sentence helps facilitate the eye and brain in doing this.

These days, reading is not a popular pastime though, which means many people do not read that way, because, frankly, they aren't particularly adept readers. Those are the people responsible for the double space falling out of fashion.

I'm old, but I retrained myself to stop applying the double-space. The double-space was something introduced for typewriters and isn't necessary on computing equipment.

I talk in short sentences. Only have 1,000 characters.I make 2 space periods too. Here no space.Hate truncation limits.Spaces count as characters which is hella stupid. So no space.Few like 2 read.Trunc limits forcing ppl to abbv. everything.Make grammar poor.Steam and othrs need 2 stop arbitrary trunc limits. Is soft censorship.Less intrusive fascism.Cannot express deep or complex thoughts.Only simplistic surface thoughts. No room to give examples or anecdotes or even analogies.

Only thing exercised by reading is the mind.Powerful ppl do not want smart ppl who can read/write competently.Easy to control simple 'n ignorant ppl.But yes, I old.Legal snr citzn in 3 mths. This dumbest post ever I write.

@Fenrir, there are other factors that may change speed; health, coffee, shoes, etc.
Fenrir 30 Nov, 2023 @ 11:57am
I'll give my 2 cents on this. I loaded the Pre-Saltu gave version and the issue was still there, so it's an old thing. I also noticed that the speed is even different among different characters of the same gender. I used Ken, Kana, Daniel, and Samantha. Ken was the fastest, Daniel was second, then Samantha, and Kana was last. All of those characters have the same speed multiplier, but got different speeds. definitely something odd.
Conan of Oz 30 Nov, 2023 @ 6:27am
@Feaelin Moilar It is an old "form" - nothing to do with type writers.

It's like two line spaces when starting a new paragraph. Just form, ol' boy.

Jaggid Edje  [author] 29 Nov, 2023 @ 1:24pm
@Feaelin Moilar, it's actually a total mystery as to the why of it. We only know what reasons are not the reason for it. It has nothing to do with height, weight, traits, or skills. The speed difference exists even when all of those are equal between the two.

Males and females do have different run animations, so my guess is that it's related to the actual animations and is not intentional. While one could argue that it's an attempt at realism, the difference is far greater than the reality of that gender difference irl, so I think it's entirely unintended.
Feaelin Moilar 29 Nov, 2023 @ 1:01pm
I'm new to the game, still on my first real playthrough. I'm curious about what the vanilla mechanism is that give male characters an advantage? Do they start with different skills or is it something wired in even deeper into the mechanics?

@reeight "BTW I know you're old; you put 2 spaces after periods ;) (I do the same.) "

Is that what it is... new generation doesn't double space after a period? Who knew? ;)
Jaggid Edje  [author] 27 Nov, 2023 @ 12:17am
Yep, you are right @reeight, it is not a perfect speed match. The speed difference boost that I needed to use was quite literally a matter of trial and error, using different values, and then doing foot races. I took it to the 1st decimal place and still had women beating men on one side, and men beating women on the other.

I picked a 2nd decimal value in between those two 1st decimal values and just went with it, to save time. "Close enough" basically.

Also, thanks for the chuckle first thing this morning. :)

I had to manually remove the dependency, (& the default upgrades) to get it to work for me without your other mod.

I did a few races; seems women are still tiny slightly slower in long races, which may be an advantage to them since if they group is running to attack someone, the men will die first. (Actually I'm ok with slight speed difference due to men being taller on average.)

BTW I know you're old; you put 2 spaces after periods ;) (I do the same.)
Jaggid Edje  [author] 26 Nov, 2023 @ 1:44pm
That and I wanted it to be kind of in my face. I can't miss nor forget it about it with it implimented the way I did it. If I had just done a script to modify the run speed of females automatically behind the scenes, I'm likely to forget all about it. And not remember to remove it right away when that upcoming "fix" that I expect arrives.

I will invariably stop playing Stranded for a while relatively soon again, and I'm getting old, forgetting I did something is actually very likely without an in-my-face indicator.
reeight 26 Nov, 2023 @ 1:36pm
OK, looking at your actual code, I now understand why you went the trait route, & not modifying the global run speed. Though it seems your overwrite the traits rather than "Append to Table", so perhaps some women get more traits outside of just Girl Power?

I wonder if walking speed is based on height? I wonder if a shorter man would walk slower?

The research to add traits is genius idea! Maybe they invented a new exercise to walk faster?
Jaggid Edje  [author] 26 Nov, 2023 @ 1:33pm
That makes total sense, and I'd probably do that for sure, if Humans Run was my mod. But it's not. I don't really have any mods that come close to overlapping with what this one does.

The other reason for an entirely seperate mod is because I am convinced this gender disparity is not intentional. I expect them to fix it in a future game update, at which point I can just disable this mod and remove it from the workshop with 2 mouse clicks. Whereas if it were nested in a mod that did other things it would require me to take the time to remove it piece by piece from the mod.
reeight 26 Nov, 2023 @ 1:09pm
Thanks for your reply!

I do like the idea of enable/disable specific features, but prefer to do it in the Options:Mod Options medu(s), rather than Mod Manager. EG this could just be a check box in Humans Run mod labeled "Women walk/run even with men". But yea for 'mod SEO' separate mods are better for PR, since that would be a hidden-ish checkbox.
Jaggid Edje  [author] 26 Nov, 2023 @ 5:53am
You can safely ignore the missing dependency if you don't want to use the other mod. It's actually only in place to ensure the load order.

I actually do many smaller mods instead of merged, larger mods intentionally. As a mod user, that's my preference. It allows me to enable/disable specific features that I may or may not want in any given playthrough. All-in-one, larger mods don't allow for that.

If I had my druthers, mods like Beyond Stranded and Project-X would be broken up into a dozen different pieces for the various different aspects of what they do for that reason.
reeight 26 Nov, 2023 @ 5:29am
Neat!
Considered merging your walking mods into one? I've got 40 subscriptions as it is, & my poor scroll wheel is wearing out ;)

I can't use this without your other mod anyhow, big red " Missing Dependency ".
Jaggid Edje  [author] 25 Nov, 2023 @ 10:37pm
I pushed an update to this mod, for a different reason, but I also should have resolved your outdated dependency message.
Jaggid Edje  [author] 25 Nov, 2023 @ 10:20pm
@spaladino95, it's looking for a version that I haven't uploaded to the workshop. you can just ignore the message safely.
injto4ka 25 Nov, 2023 @ 10:18pm
LOL
spaladino95 25 Nov, 2023 @ 10:17pm
Keep seeing the message that the dependency Jaggid's Survivor Tweaks is outdated. I've unsubscribed to it and resubscribed, disabled/enabled, rebooted the game and steam. Nothing is updating that mod.
Jaggid Edje  [author] 25 Nov, 2023 @ 9:58pm
ROFL. I cannot (publicly) support that statement.
0utlaw 25 Nov, 2023 @ 9:54pm
Dude if it turns out the female characters might move slower but cook faster in the kitchen this is going to be my favorite developer of all time. :)
