One of my favorite mods. But I'm afraid it will become dead. has not been updated since 2024 and could need some overhauling right now. Guess with 1.6 it could be totally outdated.

I actually really like this change. By default, the balancing for VPE is all over the place, and the OP psycasts are dead easy to unlock while random more niche ones are actually locked behind requirements. This keeps it more in line with vanilla, which I love to see.

I know people talk about the lack of support for Insectors and lycanthropes but there is also a lack of support for boarskins from VRE-pigskins, there is also an upcoming anomaly themed race according to recent VE roadmaps

Im not 100% sure i understand it, but are there a way to make then start with the genes, to possible gain the Psycast. but not start with Psycast points unlocked?

What about a mod config to let you chose which psycast genes each xenotype has? This way users don't need to wait for support for new xenos and also can assign psycast genes to other races outside vanilla expanded

I'd like to see insectors supported by this mod, or to have the insector mod incorporate these ideas. Right now they can't unlock any psycasts due to missing genes.

I mean i set the "limit each xenotype to only one psycast gene" to false. they show up rightly with two (or even if it comes from random genes with genetic drift) but only one active others state that they are "overridden by: " the other genes

I think instead of only adding these options, this mod should prevent other abilities from unlocking. An Impid shouldn't learn frostshaper for example. This also makes mod comp with other xenotype mods.

This looks fun. Usually with all the ways to get psycasts I get a colony full of wizards by year 5, so making them rare and unique makes them sound actually fun and exotic

@Chime Well technically an empath just means "a person with the paranormal ability to apprehend the mental or emotional state of another individual." not someone who is loving and nice. Your thinking of empathy.

@kamikaze yes let me, a vampire, just caringly suck out all of your blood real quick. They aren't empaths they just dont like getting their hands dirty. Archon is more appropriate.

@IliterateAshole if you have the gene, you can unlock it regardless of biography, but having the tribal background lets you unlock the path too

This is a good balance mod for VPE, yet it still allows learning psycast of other schools by neurotrainers, even without required xenogenes. Not sure if its intended

@Enk Thats.... literally what the mod is made for.

It limits Psycast only to pawns that have the genes. IMO its a nice balancing changes for VPE.

Why does this mod DISABLE psycasting to learn? It only makes you possible to learn the psycast ONLY if you have that gene? What. I want to be able to learn other psycast classes but still have the gene possible

Suggestion: How about add the Empath gene to Bruxas. Basicly - they are Highmates of a Sanguophages, lousy warriors, great in social and medicine, they need someone to fight for them, and Empath goes with it perfectly.

we are suppose to be able to administer these, right? I've got 3 protector formers, I tell my pawns to use one, but they just walk up to it... stare at it... then walk away.

Not sure if its a mod conflict, but can anyone confirm if the tecnomancer gene is working? I have a genie and he cant learn the tecnomancer skill tree

Thanks for asking Deathstar, just noticed it is this addon that locks it all behind genes. I could turn it off but I do like some psycasts being gated. Exactly like you say, there should be something for baseline colonists. I play mostly with baseline colonists but I might need to switch that up too.

Heya, do you think it'd be possible to allow for a few select psycasting paths to be available to Baseliners? I love the idea of the mod, but at the same time I feel like there should be -some- options available to you prior to researching and investing into genetics heavily. Maybe the elemental ones like Conflagrator or Frostshaper, or the "harmless" ones like Harmonist or Empath?

I don't see a mention of VFE Genie, Waster, and Pigskin under the "Compatibility" section. I suppose it is just because they don't add new xenotypes but modify the already existing ones?

great mod!, with Psycaster Genes Spawner nto being updated yet, is there any other way to give the xenotypes that have a psycaster gene to spawn with a psylink by default?

so far this is working with 1.5 with no massive issues.
Also: does being able to get other psycast powers from other lines via psytrainers intended or not intended?
