Yes actually I was aware of your intended solution, it was to show you an alternative.
Maybe if you connect that button to the angled panel, and you reduce the horizontal white floor to a smaller area, you could fix the whole unintended situation.

Thank you for your walkthrough. I see what you mean. It seems that I forgot to connect the button to something, however I did notice that you used the cube angle differently than I expected. The angled panel facing down directly across from the button is meant to be the place that you angle the laser into the receiver. Thank you for your criticism.

Hi!
I'm not a fan of angled lasers but this one is cool and easy.
However, I don't see a reason for that button on the other side.
(Also you don't need the angled panel below in my solution)
