i think you either use an old version of the mod, or a different mod causes the issues. I tested it now and it worked. Also looked over the code and didnt find anything. Can you look at the mod description in the modmenu and see if you have the v1.31 installed?

Yeah, Kobolds do have a pretty big weakpoint in that they have to protect their Greater Mines and no good way rapidly deploy between them. I can definitely see that as an issue in multiplayer. They are kind of like a Druid that likes to stack enchantments, but without any travel ritual to defend or area denial/forewarning system to alert.

As for casters, I do tend to put a dragon in every mine that I can afford and basically only spend my gold on casters, drakes and dragon spawn. The freespawn, especially once you have strongholds, are good enough default troops. Aka meatshields.

Diamonds only get spend on White Dragon Spawn, Sapphires only on Prophets, Rubies depends what I am up against as Red Dragon Spawn, Prophets and even Kings do all have valid use cases. Emeralds is whatever as in my opinion both Green Dragon Spawn and Green Casters are pretty weak.

Though Green Kobolds are probably the best starting color with their poison bow and poison resistance.

True that warhammer is not known for its tolerance but rogue traders have been given the permission (from the emperor i think) to be a bit more linient. Thats why i find it a bit of a missed opportunity.

A strait-on fight against a necromancer is impossible, if both players are experienced. Probably even with this mod. My favorite enemy is the early-game abomination that drains life and the cheap Fear-pyramid that alone can hold a settlement.

The stats of the White Dragon Spawn sound good. But in practise, you wont be able to afford them in most games. 200 white gems + 1gem/unit is hard to accomplish if your up against someone who knows what he is doing. Not impossibe, but the odds are against you. Espacially if the map is small

You can't even spam mages because your dragons are often easily killed. High Cultist and Necromancer can start with a spell that oneshots them. Or the dragons decide to suicide themselfes. That happens too. Or you have a bad colour and your dragon is ineffecitve. They are not useless, but in an actual confrontation 1vs1 you will not have the opportunity to vasty increase the spawn-chances of your mages, as your dragons will be hunted down.

And because if occurs in the early/mingame you will not be able to spam mages or white kobold spawn. - There also the fact that your starting colour is random and the gem-colour of the mines too. So you often don't even have access to optimal units or optimal mages. So in practise you dont survive the earlygame and if you do, you dont survive the late game. Because the late game units of many factions are far stronger and easier to produce then counterarmy you make.

Kobolds can’t just switch a city like any other faction, as they build Kobold lairs and upgrade them. Thus a player who knows this, will go hunting those strongholds. And you cant defend all of them at the same time. So as long as the enemy is not aware of your bases or does not commit to killing you, it works out. But this often occurs in the early/midgame. A large map can help, but a bad mine distribution may prove deadly

Maybe it is possible to spam mages and make them into a cost-effective troop. I did not try that, so I can't judge how good this tactic is. But I will probably test it sometime in the future. Same with those white kobold spawn. In singleplayer it probably works better then in multiplayer. Multiplayer is hard.

- Necromancer. Yep, those are kind of a problem for Kobolds. White Dragon Spawn are pretty decent against them though. If you mass a few hundreds they should do a pretty good job. White Dragon Spawn have good armor, a shield, fly, have 7 range and 1-5 damage. Their MR is also pretty good at 6 for troops. But it will definitely be an uphill battle. Red Dragon Spawn might also help. They do have a magical fire breathing burst 1 attack and a hard hitting high initiative halberd. Though they have real trouble with fear auras.

- Rogue Trader. Yeah, there are quite a few bugs. Especially the later chapters. But the first 2-3 chapters are definitely playable and a lot of fun for me. Yeah, not a lot of non-human companions, but that's more of a problem with the setting. 40k isn't that big on tolerance. :D

Haven't really had any problems with either of those. Hoburgers are incredible weak to blizzard. Their mechanical units might be a problem, but you probably can wear them down with things like meteors or just raw attrition.
Warlocks have quite a few units that are immune to your damages, but that is also true the other way around. A lot of elemental shenanigans will just bounce off your kobolds. Fire and Cloud Elementals for example can't damage basic Red or White Kobolds respective.
Demonologist, is pretty strong, though I didn't have that much problems against AI ones yet. Same for High Cultist.

- Kobold casters power level.
Blue: You have recruitable blizzard casters. You are right that frost immune enemies are an issue. But only because just about any non-frost immune ones die to half a dozen blizzard casters with some meatshields. Human hp enemies die to 2-3, which is something you can easily get. Especially if there is a library.
Red: The pyromancer spellbook comes with a nice meteor spell. Not as devastating as blizzard, but a few meteor caster with some Red Dragon Spawn will do pretty well against most things.
White: Some nice electricity spells as well as blunt spells. Though the latter will do friendly fire.
Green: Yeah, the Bile spellbook isn't that great.

That quite a few things to address. First, a disclaimer, I usually play single player and only had a few allies against the ai game. No versus other players. So there might indeed be some issue for multiplayer that I do not experience.

Ok, points in no particular order:

- White Dragon Spawn. They are actually pretty easy to get mid to endgame. You only need a White Kobold Prophet that costs 200 gems and a recruitment location that has Diamonds. Then you can get them at 1 gem per unit. They are one of the best recruitable ranged units in the game and definitely worth getting.

- Kobold spellcasters. I was talking more about the sheer number of spellcasters you can get. In addition to recruitable level 2 casters. 7% base for a Shaman, 3% base for a Sorcerer, +2 per same colored dragon or elder dragon and another +2/3 for Sorcerers/Shamans per Library/Temple. So getting a good number of casters together shouldn't be a problem.

Is Rogue Trader good? I heard is has many bugs and you cant acutally recruit any nonhuman companions except one eldar and a darkeldar.

Actually there is a unit called Red Kobold Musician in my mod-files with the purpose of giving local leadership. But I did not manage to make it feel vanilla. Maybe im gonna add it in the future, if i find a way to draw a good sprite and make the unit feel more natural and fitting.

Then, halve of their casters are useless against unhuman beings. Frost resistance and poison resistances are common among undead, inanimate beings, Warlock summons etc. Fireresistance is also frequent. Of course there are matchups where the kobolds excel. But Hobburgers, Warlocks, Necromancer, High cultist, Demonolgist wipe the floor with kobolds. And your somewhat strong casters are also your whole progess. So if your White Kobold Prophet dies, you lose around 50+Turns of gem income. Assuming you did not invest into other rituals. A Sorcerer has level 3 Spells(i think) but costs 300gems which is an enoumous investment. As such, kobolds do not have reliable and cost-efficent spellcasters.

Honestly, i did not notice that the white dragon spawn has a magic bow. But I still think that it is to hard to get to. To much has to align for it to be a reliable strategy. The map has to be good and the enemy has to be negligent or a good matchup. As such i dont think that the senior is obsolete, quite on the contrary. The existence of this unit reduces the amount of luck you need, to succesfully prevail. I disagree on the part with the casters. Kobold Casters are not good. They have low range and often low damage spells. As such, they only start casting "significant" spells, when 90% of you army is dead. Because they have no range.

Sounds interesting. Probably going to give it a look as soon as Rogue Trader gives me back my time.

Just one thought: The Blue Kobold Senior might not be that useful. White Dragon Spawn are something you want to get anyway and they are very strong ranged magic damage dealer. So ethereal or mundane immune enemies should never be a problem. Especially not with the number of casters you get.

How about instead making the Senior giving local leadership? That would be something really adding to the Kobolds arsenal against fear spams.
