Ai, Use Custom Shipsets!

So the mod isn't up to date and somebody else has uploaded an updated version, but what about the actual collection of compatible shipsets? When is the last time that was updated? I just sifted through to separate pre- and post-bio update, but it doesn't look like it's being kept up with for new shipsets either. I guess that makes sense considering the update of the base mod itself but does that mean nothing more recent is compatible? Or am I misunderstanding and shipsets are compatible by default and that's just a list the author was using or something?

I just got the game on steam and wanted to play mods and this mod look so cool but now I learn it dose not work on latest version of the game, pleas dude update or make a new one, pleas

The mod seems to not working at all in 4.0+.

Soo, info for all: don't use the mod in 4.0+ at the moment.

Please remove my Vengeance ship-set from your list. Your modifications will not work and cause havoc.
The AI is blocked from using the ship-set with purpose. The same applies to:

Kurogane 2.0
Kurosetions Expanded
Vengeance Sections Expanded

The mods are not compatible with your changes.

Yeah it's easy, but there are so many old shipsets, who wants to patch all of them...
You can patch a couple that you need, yes.

you can fix shipsets fairly easily by modifying the graphical_culture.txt to insert the missing code. Its an easy fix. Unfortunately the abandoned shipsets wont be updated so fixing it on your own is the only fix I know of for now.

I created simple instructions on steam for how to do it. I will link it if you're interested

Can confirm that the Patch has broken EVERYTHING about Shipsets.
What i mean by that is that every Shipset that is not updated will not work anymore.
Old Shipsets are marked as Biological Shipset and can not build Ships (i don't have the dlc so maybe thats the reason they not buildable?).

I dont know the addition of bio-ships may have changed things I am getting random ships but not modded ones

Haa, my bad, well that would be a great idea of a mod for allowing emerging empire mid game to use modded shipset like yours, anyway thx for your mod and reply

That's a problem from the other mods, they likely don't take the Shipset from the original empire.
Nothing wrong from the side of my mod.
My mod only changes shipsets at the start of the game, every problem after that is caused by stellaris or other mods.
Load order will change nothing about that.

Hi I have the mod Civil war as well as fatherland which allow rebellion and new AI empire to emerge midgame but everytime they do they don't use any of the modded shipset only the vanilla default corresponding to their species, example humanoid, reptillian etc do I need to put thsi in a specific load order or is it not compatible with the 2 previous mods ?

I tested it and have no problems with it.
Have you any Shipset Mods active?
The Mod needs to have Shipset mods to do anything.
Every compatible Shipset Mod is in the linked collection.

This mod doesn't need to be updated for 3.12 and will work with EVERY coming patch.
Test the mod before asking for updates.

so this is the effin jeffin , gorkin morkin reason ive had to fill my games with custom races all the time? they only ever picked from vanilla!

ive got like 30 custom factions made i use in games purely for the custom shipsets they have lol

im trying to test this with the production revolution mods and if i add this mod it crashes on load to the main menu. Any idea why that would be?

Could this be used to force a custom FE (using an origin mod) to use a specific custom shipset rather than default to the FE set? Or does that not work because of the unique FE ship classes that would need a corresponding model?

I have noticed a strange quirk. When using other portraits, such as the mod "Species of Stellaris - Distant Worlds (3.9.2)" that when you select 50% or 75% for ships being replaced by custom shipsets, that a majority (not all) of the AI vanilla shipsets that get used are the same, they are Mammalian.
Not sure if anything can be done to fix this. If you dont use a mod like Species of Stellaris - Distant Worlds (3.9.2) then this doesnt happen.

Definitely not, the mod only triggers 1 time at the start and then never do anything again.
It also don't overwrite anything.
Maybe you are just very unlucky or another mod does something.

Do you maybe play on the Stellaris Beta Branch?
They have done some new ways there for tech unlocking or something like that.

I looked into it and it's not really possible.
For Ship Designs i can check what mod is installed in a complicated way, but not for backgrounds.

Stellaris Modding is very very limited as far as scripting goes.

I dont know the deep dives of how it works. However, could you do something where the games are just not allowed to go with their first choice and then randomly pick from all available?
