if the mod apply to it, it won't show up (like overcasting)

I did some more testing this morning, and it looks like I was wrong. I did, indeed, just get unlucky and the hell-pit I was fighting just succeeded on the 50/50 dice-roll a dozen times or so and assumed it was because of this mod. So, the mod works perfectly. That's kind of embarrassing, but at least that mystery is solved.

I have yet to actually fight a hell-pit in campaign, but I was throwing it up against a dread saurian for fun and that "Too horrible to die" ability (50% chance to not die when it dies) never miscast for me

Strange. Though it is possible that I just got very very unlucky and the hellpit was soloing me despite the 50% chance for the ability to fail

To anyone else using this mod, do be aware that certain abilities are extremely unbalanced with this. For example, hell pit abominations have an ability that gives them a 50/50 chance to not die when they should die. But since this mod makes miscast unable to happen, hell-pits are just completely immortal
