The rifle I'm suggesting would be the M91/24 Carcano Carbine. It is the genuine compact Version of the Italian WW2 classic, which in my eyes would be perfectly fitting the Scout role regarding the concept, calibre and operating mechanism.

A nice switch option to Your also very enjoyable De-Lisle rifle.

Lengthwise it would be comparable to a "Tanker M1". But the M1 is a self-loading rifle, whilst the Carcano is a classic bolt action system, like the De-Lisle. Ian McCullom has a Video on the Carcano Shortie:

Just saying, it would fit quite nice. Carcano is also a nice rifle. Sadfully most workshop stuff only covers Nagant, Springfield or the German stuff..
