Thank you so much! I don't care if I would have to wait a bit for it, even if it's something separate. And yes- the more naturalistic tones I adore, yet I sometimes also have moments where I want to feel like it's high noon and I am flying in an airplane. I know, roleplay-ey right?

Hey man! That would be pretty cool wouldn't it? Frustratingly we're a bit restricted in terms of adding super jazzy filters and stuff like that, the game just doesn't support it. However just applying high contrast colours is definitely doable, but maybe in the future as something separate. The purpose of this particular mod is to make things more naturalistic, toned down and a soothing to play :)

one just iddy biddy wish I had for this map mod, if possible- is that the colors looked like the first image, with the text of Global Canvas. None of the map mods feel exactly lively to me-

Thank you man! I don't think there's a way we can get around the infinite tiling at this point but perhaps one day we'll be able to tweak it and gain some control over that aspect of map styling. I imagine it could be something to do with improving performance but I'm not 100% sure!
For now, displaying building blocks / built up areas as a subtle repeating grid provides us with something a little man-made and geometric when close up whilst giving the appearance of subtle infrastructure definition and texture when viewed from afar. I actually use it as an alignment tool in certain situations so it can be quite handy! :)

Absolutely amazing map style! Really puts the default map on a whole another level!

One issue which is purely personal is the infinite scaling of the building blocks filler texture etc. which gets a bit weird when zoomed in! This happens to be more noticeable on the midnight canvas

Other than that very nice style! Congrats!

WOW. This really enhances the game by a mile (and makes playing in the evening far more enjoyable) :steamhappy:
Vesuvius18  [author] 17 Jan, 2024 @ 4:44pm
Thanks dude! I checked out Antwerp and a few areas do appear to fade out when zooming in - I made a quick update for that this evening so they should stay put :P
TKR 17 Jan, 2024 @ 4:51am
looks like swamp update didn't fix my problem. I was talking about wetland=marsh and wetland=saltmarsh it seems; You can see it near Antwerp in the Schelde. Some of it even shows as land when zoomed out and changes to water when you zoom in.
If you are in the official Nimby Rails Discord I can show you exactly what I mean? :)
Vesuvius18  [author] 16 Jan, 2024 @ 1:15pm
Wow that really does look amazing - great job man! I've just updated the mod with that exact colour value - really appreciated! :D

I love it! One critique - the great basin is way too green. I changed shrubland (index 20) to a very pleasant #ad9461 and it looks amazing!

No problem at all! It's integrated really nicely, so useful being able to switch between different map styles on the fly :D
adlet 14 Jan, 2024 @ 12:14pm
Thank you! Apparently I had too many map style options in the menu, removed one, now I can see the checkbox for Global Canvas.
Vesuvius18  [author] 14 Jan, 2024 @ 9:18am
Hey man! Yeah sure, simply click on the 'Map Options' button to open the map overlay options. At the very bottom you'll see your map packs listed out with a checkbox next to each, so it's just a case of unchecking the packs you want to hide and you're good to go! ;)
adlet 13 Jan, 2024 @ 10:40pm
Is there a way to turn it off in the game without unsubscribing?
Vesuvius18  [author] 11 Jan, 2024 @ 1:18pm
Thanks TKR! We have a muddy bog-like take on swamps at the moment but I'll certainly look at breaking in green moss / vegetation and some puddles too ;)
TKR 11 Jan, 2024 @ 3:23am
As I (and many others) stated before, amazing work. Any chance we can get a different texture for swamps though? Right now it kinda looks like a lake. At least to me?
dorando 7 Jan, 2024 @ 2:23pm
This looks amazing! Thank you very much!
Timcool 6 Jan, 2024 @ 2:28pm
Wow!
TKR 6 Jan, 2024 @ 2:02pm
This looks so epic! Nice.
bt-4200 6 Jan, 2024 @ 6:57am
Nicely done!!!Perhaps is the greatest map mod in this workshop!
Chreis 5 Jan, 2024 @ 2:17pm
WOW! great stuff
clemensbziegler 4 Jan, 2024 @ 1:19pm
Its beautiful, thank you very much. :)
Vesuvius18  [author] 4 Jan, 2024 @ 4:40am
Thanks for the observations man! I'll look into fine tuning the below if possible - pretty new to creating map skins so not 100% sure we can actually change the text styles and track textures as part of the same mod package? If so I'll aim to get all the bits below tweaked, even re-tinting the outlines for tunnels and bridges :D
AngryDragon 3 Jan, 2024 @ 11:38pm
In many regards, this is better than the original. It definitely looks great, but it does have a few issues. The map labels are rather hard to read. The dark colouring of built rail kind of blends into the darker tint that you chose for cities. I struggle to distinguish bridge and tunnel segments from at grade on this map. The telltale details that would tell you kind of get lost in the darker tints.
RangerRenze 3 Jan, 2024 @ 2:52pm
Just want to say that I've been using this for a bit now and it's absolutely stunning! really keeps the vibe of the game but in a way nicer colour scheme
Vesuvius18  [author] 2 Jan, 2024 @ 10:27am
Yeah I find it incredible how much more respectful / aware of the environment you become when it comes to route planning - especially when it comes to laying tracks through rockier / wooded areas and beauty spots! :)
Flemily 2 Jan, 2024 @ 3:27am
absolute banger, it really helps aswell with the terrain
BrokenButler 1 Jan, 2024 @ 3:30pm
I have to agree it looks really nice and it's making me consider leaving my own OSM Style behind 🥲
PS: happy to help, I'll tell you about any other things I find as I find them if you don't mind
Tremoniax 1 Jan, 2024 @ 2:51pm
I love the style so much! I have the feeling it gives the map so more depth and a more realistic touch :)
Vesuvius18  [author] 1 Jan, 2024 @ 1:12pm
Thanks for letting me know! Just updated - all industrial sectors now show a slightly different tile and colour tint :)
BrokenButler 1 Jan, 2024 @ 12:37pm
looks great (although landuse = industrial still has no color :D)
Vesuvius18  [author] 1 Jan, 2024 @ 12:33pm
Thanks guys! I've added some very subtle distinction between districts in the latest update :)
BrokenButler 1 Jan, 2024 @ 11:27am
Looks really neat, but I'd personally give industrial areas an actual color as otherwise they look kinda weird imo :)
Toineau 1 Jan, 2024 @ 4:26am
You actually did it, this is a masterpiece
power man 1 Jan, 2024 @ 1:44am
holy cow
Thihalion 1 Jan, 2024 @ 12:21am
Good map style
